Sasha
I try to keep up with him, but my hip is in pain. He is so fast that I can’t even keep up with him. I grab my dress and then jog after him. It’s not how I was raised. I have been told a woman doesn’t run, but right now, the alpha king seems determined to get away from here.
“Wait!” I shout, but when he pauses, I find myself hitting his back. I stagger back and lower my head, my heart is pounding hard, and my chest rises and falls. “I’m sorry,” I quickly apologize before he unleashes his anger on me.
“I’m so sorry… I didn’t…” I stutter, reading his face, but it’s cold, and there’s no emotion.
“What is it, Sasha?” he asks. He knows my name. I find myself loving the way he says it.
“I was wondering about my stuff. I didn’t get to pack." I point towards the house. Waiting for his response, he turns to the man who is standing by the door.
“We already have everything you need,” he says, then dips his head, with a smile on his face.
“Everything?”
“Yes. The omega packed everything for you. Including your things. Your handbag is in the car.” He dips his head again, and I nod.
I don’t have a handbag or personal things. The only things I have are the rags I call clothes and a few pictures of my two little sisters. Nicole and Daniela, my father’s favorite daughters.
“Thank you,” I say to the man who holds the door
“No, it was no problem.”
“If we are done here, I would like to be home by first light,” Cassian says and gets in the car on the other side, and I nod my head. Getting in the car and giving the man holding the door a smile,
“Taylor, I would like to pick up something on the way,” Cassian says. Sitting in his chair. The driver’s name is Taylor. I make notes in my mind. I should thank him for taking my things.
“Yes, your grace,” He responds, then the car starts. I turn on my chair, glancing back at the packhouse. It’s like any normal day. Everyone seems occupied with something, and no one to see me off.
My heart aches. I knew I was never loved, but knowing no one wanted to say goodbye to me, it hurt even more. I can’t believe this is my life. I fell back in my seat and let the tears roll down my cheeks. I cried for the home that never accepted me. A place I can call home, but never truly was.
The pain of knowing I was never truly accepted and probably never will be hit hard, and I break down, letting the sobs out. I cover my mouth with my hand, letting the tears stream down my face.
“Sasha…” Cassian’s voice comes.
“I’m so sorry... I didn’t mean…I am…” I stutter when he hands me a handkerchief. I stare at the hand giving me the handkerchief. It has a scar from the finger, then disappears into his leather jacket. I wonder how far it goes; my hands itch to reach for his finger and trace the scar to see how far it goes.
He lets out a throaty growl. My gaze trails from his hand to his face. There’s a line on his forehead, and his eyebrows are narrowed together. The one on his face looks like it’s an old one, and it makes me wonder what kind of monster would do something like this to someone.
“Don’t fucking look at me like that” he growls, his voice a bit huskier.
“I’m sorry... I am fine,” I say, wiping my face with the back of my hand. He pulls back his hand, putting the handkerchief in his pocket.
“Stop saying sorry. It’s fucking irritating,” He growls, taking out his phone.
“I’m sorry… I just…” I stutter, pausing when he snaps his head towards me. He clenches his jaw tight, his nostrils flaring. His eyes burn with a cold fury that sends shivers down the spine of anyone who dares to look into them.
Oh, great, Sash. You have pissed him off.
“Do I scare you, Sasha?” he suddenly asks me. “Do I disgust you?” He asks me as I swallow hard. I don’t know what to say to that. I don’t find him disgusting, but striking. He looks like a man who has lived through pain, yet he scares me.
I shake my head.
“I’m not a nice man, Sasha. I am not your knight in shining armor,” he says, his words so cold they send a chill down my spine. I hold his gaze, not sure what to say, and my eyes roam all over his face.
I should be scared of this man. Yet I find myself drawn to him. He is scary, but something draws me to him
SashaMy heart is racing so fast, something pushes against my rib, but I close my eyes, taking a deep breath. He is lying. He must be lying to me.“It’s true, Sasha. Ravenna is his luna.” He adds, and I purse my lips together. I can’t believe his other friend is betraying him. Is this what it means to be king? Constantly being betrayed by those you trust.“Stop lying! Our mating ceremony took place and—”“Then why do you carry his mark, and he doesn’t carry yours?” He asks me, cutting me short, and I take a step back. He is serious about this.“Think, Sasha. You are not dumb. Why do you think he is constantly with her?” He asks me, and I sniffle back, wiping my tears.“Whatever happens in my marriage is my business. So please stay out of it,” I say, about to walk away when he grabs my wrist. Warmth caresses my body like a second skin, and I look up at him. My lips part to say something, but the words don’t come out of my mouth. Why didn’t I see this sooner? Or feel it the first time h
Sasha“Is this what you had in mind, Luna Sasha?” Luna Odessa asked me after she got closer to me. I forced a smile on my lips, giving her an affirmative nod. We met at the last brunch I attended, and among all those Lunas I met that day, she was the only person who seemed to be interested in getting to know me.“It is better. I am just glad that the shelter will have everything it needs,” I say to her, bringing the glass of champagne to my lips. She is a woman in her late fifties and has a son who married an omega.“It’s a good thing what you have done. It’s good these greedy bastards can spend their money on something worth it,” she remarks. I almost choke on my own words; I shift my attention to her. I didn’t expect someone like her to use such language.“Are you okay, sweetheart?” She placed her hand on my shoulder, and I smiled, nodding my head. “I’m sorry. I just…” I pause, my lips turning up into a smirk, and she burst out laughing.“I like you for him, you know? Ever since yo
Sasha“Mine,” he growls, pulling me into him. I pushed him off, but he held me tight. “Let go of me, Your grace!” I push him and he steps back, narrowing his eyes.“I’m not some object with no feelings! I may not be as educated as Ravenna and have a body that is not covered in scars, but I am human! I have feelings, and it hurts!” I yelled, placing a hand on my chest as tears rolled down my cheeks. His eyes are wide, and his lips parted. My chest rises and falls as I take a step back. “Every single time, you insult me, and yet you expect people to respect me. It doesn’t work like that, your grace.”“Cassian,” he corrects.I shake my head. He always wants me to address him like my husband, but he never acts like it.“You are not Cassian to me. You are my king. And that’s all you will ever be to me. You have made that clear.” I wipe my tears with the back of my hand.“A husband would never let his wife go out at night without looking for her. If you cared even in the slightest. You woul
Cassian“Are you not going after her?” Taylor asks me as soon as we get to my chambers. I don’t respond, but I just start changing. I am not going to be chasing after a woman.“You know, you could let her take over some duties, it’s…”“No.” I cut him short. I throw my coat on the chair as I walk to my desk. Her scent hit my nostrils. Last night, replaying in my mind how she was in my arms. This should not have happened. I shouldn’t have let her get close to me, yet everything around me reminds me of her. I have let her get too close to me. This is for the best.I could feel the pain in her chest every time she looked at Ravenna. But I am only doing this for her. If anyone ever got news that she does not have those high standards they set for her, they would rip her apart, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t just stand by, and unfortunately, my wolf wouldn’t just stand by. I would rip out their tongues for speaking against her.“I’m told she is towards the fields with Alaric. Should I ask th
SashaI shouldn’t be with Alaric. This was such a bad idea, yet I kept following him as he led me to the south side of the palace grounds.“Where are you taking me? Cassian will be—”“He can have my head for all I care. He should realize you are human and have feelings,” he growls, leading me up to the stables. I pause, looking at him.“I shouldn’t be out this late,” I step back, and he smiles, shaking his head. “Relax. We are not going horse riding. He jumps on a parapet and gives me his hand.“No”“Come on, Sasha. You are your person. Trust me, I won’t hurt you,” he assures me as I swallow hard. This is a bad idea. Especially with my mate staking a claim on me. He could be out there and ready to strike.“I won’t hurt you. Plus, your two shadows won’t let me.” He gestures with his chin behind me, and I glance over. My two shadows are standing behind me at a distance.I nodded my head and gave him my hand. He pulled me over and we walked down a path leading behind the stables, then do
Sasha“Ariel, wait!” My hand shot out, grabbing her by the arm.“What is it?” she asked, holding the doorknob. Her eyes were full of confusion.I glance around the hallway and realize it is just the two of us.I can’t let Cassian know about this.“Ariel, please. He can’t know.” She knit her brows, her gaze searching.“Sasha”“Please, Ariel, he can’t know. At least not now,” I insisted, holding her hand.“Sasha, this is not a good idea. If your ma--“I immediately covered her mouth with my hand, looking around. She shouldn’t go around throwing that word. Her eyes widened, trying to speak, but my hand was firm over her mouth“Please. Come with me.” I pulled her back into the bedroom, slamming the door behind us.“Listen. I know it’s not. Good idea, but Cassian and I are just getting closer. If he finds out this. He will--“ I pause. Unable to even imagine what this will do.Will he reject me? This was all so confusing. How could I suddenly have a mate when I just gave my heart to another
