Chapter 1: Naera Klein

Naera is excited to celebrate her marriage with her husband. It was the 3rd year of their being married to each other. She is an orphan child who longed to have a family of her own, married a guy named Marco Klein, who treated her as if she was a very special girl in the whole world. Her in-laws were quite strict but civil with her even though she knows that they did not favor her. She looked at her husband sideways with a smile on her face.

"I'm very lucky to have you," she whispered and kissed him on the cheeks before leaving the bed to start the day. She needs to prepare his husband's needs, such as his tie, his suit, and his briefcase for work. After that, she went down to the kitchen to make breakfast for them. She is happy to celebrate their wedding anniversary today and she is hoping that he would not forget it again. She went to the fridge to scan what can she make for breakfast and she decided to make bacon and eggs with a cherry tomato. After 15 minutes, her preparation for breakfast is complete. She heard her husband's footsteps come down the stairs and face them.

"Marco, the food is ready! Let's eat," she said happily. Marco is fixing his necktie and looked at his wristwatch to check the time.

"Sorry, Naera. I have so many things to do today and I need to go to the office earlier," he said. Naera's excitement disappeared. Does he remember what today is?

"Is that so." She saw how frustrated his husband fixing his necktie. "Let me do it," she said and walked towards him and fixed the necktie without a problem. She brushed some dirt on his coat before looking at him with a smile. Marco smiled back and kissed her forehead.

"Thank you, Naera. I didn't know what I would do without you," he said. With only those words, Naera again felt happy. Just a simple thank you from him can melt her heart over and over again.

"Marco, do you remember what today is?" she asked. He looks at her and then think for a second but nothing came out of his mind.

"I don't remember. Is it the birthday of my cousin?" he asked and looks at his wristwatch again. She sighed and felt disappointed. He doesn't remember their wedding anniversary.

"It was our-"

"Okay, I'll see you later!" Then he left. She looks down sadly with a sigh. She sat back down on the dining chair to eat the breakfast she prepared. This is not the second time that Marco forgot their anniversary so they will celebrate the next day after knowing about it or on the weekend if he is busy.

She is upset and decided to call her best friend, Yumi to talk her sadness away.

"Girl! You called, is everything okay?" she sighed and sat on the sofa.

"Marco forgot our wedding anniversary again," she said and hug her legs. But then Naera heard a moan on the other line. She was surprised. "Wait, what is... Happening?"

"Oh! Sorry, I am watching a movie. You know, the one that is on TV," Yumi said with a laugh. She smiled and shakes her head.

"Are you sure?" Naera asked making sure. Her friend tends to have fun with other men.

"Yeah. So, you wanted me to... Mn... Punch your husband?"

"Can you do that?"

"Of course, I can! You know you can count on me! We're best friends!"

"Haha! Very funny! It's fine, I just hope that he remembers it." Naera sighed loudly and stands up. "Okay, whatever you're doing with someone, go ahead and do that. Let's talk again."

"I suggest you prepare something for him, later. Maybe something... mind-blowing?" Naera blushed because of her friend's suggestion.

"Th-That's..." She heard a laugh on the other line.

"Girl, I know you're blushing right now. Chill, I'm just messing with you! Just do something like, make his favorite food. For sure he will remember it. Got to go, babe! See you later!"

"Yeah, see you later!" She turns off the phone and put her hands on her face, rubbing them both. Thinking that it might remove the burning sensation. She also shakes her head and sigh. She thought that her best friend make sense. Maybe making dinner will be a good thing to do... Or more. She blushed. Even if they are a married couple, they only do it a couple of times, but she still gets embarrassed.

"Right, let's make his favorite Mac 'n cheese," she muttered and smiled. She started to clean the house and get her work done so that she can prepare dinner later at night. Before leaving their home to buy some ingredients for their dinner, she changed her clothes into something comfortable like a hoodie and pants.

With Naera's best friend's suggestion, she did make her husband's favorite Mac 'n Cheese. She was happy with the outcome of the food she made and she can say it was her best. Also, she ordered a cake the as a dessert. She is wondering when will her husband come home for them to celebrate.

"Naera, I' m home!" She heard. She smiled and immediately welcomed her husband. She was surprised when a bouquet of red roses greeted her. "Do you like it?"

"My gosh, Marco! Is this for me?" she asks with a wide smile on her face. She then looked at her husband and she see him nod.

"Yes, you like red roses, right? It's my apology gift. I almost forgot our anniversary again. Forgive me, my dear!" he said and hug her. She smiles and hug him back. But something struck her, why does he smell like a woman's perfume?

"Marco, why do you smell like... Lilies?" she asked. Marco stiffened and pulled from the hug. She looks at him quite curious. He looks at her with an awkward smile.

"There is a client that got close to me at work. Nothing important. By the way, what is this I can smell? Did you make some Mac 'n cheese?" Marco diverted his wife's attention to something.

"Oh! Yeah, I made some Mac 'n cheese! Let's eat before it gets cold!" He smiles and put his arm on her waist.

"Then, let's not make the food waiting," he said and guide his wife with a fake smile on his face.
