Chapter 3: Run Away From Devil Spirit

The host rushed towards the girl with everyone's shouts. That girl raised her hand to shield her face and waited for something terrible to happen to her. However, things did not turn out as people thought. The laughter of the four men rang out. Looking back, the host and three other men were holding their stomachs and laughing.

"What just happened?" The girl still hugged her body tightly and asked with a bewildered face.

Everything was arranged by the other four men. They wanted to scare people, not really played Ouija board. Even vows, they made up their own. The phone was placed in a secret corner and was live streaming all the happenings. Four men set up a channel dedicated to teasing others. This time, they decided to go big for once for the sake of popularity. Of course, they succeeded with that.

“Has everyone seen it all? This house is not haunted. It's all our own making,” one man pulled his phone out of a secret corner and told people watching online. Then, he filmed the two girls' still-fazed mirrors and laughed amusedly.

"You guys are too much," a girl, who saw her image was humiliated, became angry and stood up and shouted at the other four men. They laughed and shrugged. They did not care about the feelings of those they threaten. They just need to explode views from social networks.

“But just now, you were really good at moving the planchette around and scrolling through the demon symbols,” said the man holding the phone over the shoulder of his friend, who was in charge of controlling the planchette.

The friend shrugged and said it was no big deal, "It's not me, it's because he moved the planchette", then pointed at another person.

The man frowned and shook his head. These two men in charge of controlling the planchette both stopped moving. However, the host and the man holding the phone didn't care at all. They continued to show off their achievements.

“The sound of knives hitting the wall is really scary. I didn't expect my group to be able to catch the moment like that."

The other two men patted the shoulder of the person holding the phone. The two shook their heads and pretended that it wasn't their work. The three of them looked over at the host but received a shake of his head in surprise. If these things really weren't staged by them, who did them?

“Could it be…” one said hesitantly and looked around the room.

"Badly. There are no ghosts in this world. Don't scare yourself like that," shouted the man holding the phone, and then focused his attention on the people they made fun of.

The two girls were still angry, so they both turned their faces away so the phone wouldn't film them right away. The man smiled scornfully and then remembered the two most silent people ever. He was pretty sure they were too scared to say anything. Therefore, the phone immediately pointed in the direction of Roxanne and the schoolboy but it leaked for a few seconds and then returned to normal. She and he did not care about the scene in which they were secretly filmed. Instead, the two looked at the host at the same time.

The host sensed Roxanne and the young man's strange gazes, so the smile gradually dropped. The host frowned because he didn't know why he felt strange. Suddenly he opened his eyes and slowly turned back. The gazes of Roxanne and the young man were originally not looking at the host but behind him. Ever since the host pretended to be possessed by the artist's ghost, he had felt a cold chill behind him. However, he did not pay too much attention to that but put all his attention on scaring people to get views from social networks.

The host turned back and sighed. There was nothing behind his back. This proved that in this room, only Roxanne and the young man saw the man. The man was dressed in aristocratic clothing and was holding a bloody knife in his hand and the woman's head in the other. His whole body glowed red. Roxanne gulped so as not to utter the word 'devil spirit'.

In the spiritual world, ghosts and demons are two different concepts. Ghosts often stay in the world of the living because they cannot fulfill their last wishes. They still dominate this life. Ghosts rarely appear and only cause objects to move or collide with each other. Demons are an extremely terrifying form of spirit. They carry great hatred and resentment. They are not easy-going like ghosts. They can cause harm to people including life-threatening if people accidentally touch them.

Roxanne finally knew why she felt the chill and the pressure was both strange and familiar. She met a lot of ghosts, but she only met a demon once. In Roxanne's eyes, the demons were all dressed in a blood-red color. That time, Roxanne was lucky to escape or she wasn't sure she would still be standing here. However, she met another demon again. Would luck come to Roxanne a second time? And are those ghosts running away from this man? She discovered that the spirits from earlier were all dressed as servants and maids for a noble family. Maybe the things behind the scenes were more terrifying than Roxanne's group had thought.

“That's the painter…” Roxane said in a low voice and extremely wary of the spirit in front of her.

"That's right," the young man nodded. Roxanne could only see half of his face and marveled at how calm he was in every situation.

Roxanne took a cautious step back and directed her gaze towards the gap connecting the room and the hallway outside. However, her intentions were discovered by someone else. The young man didn't turn around but correctly grabbed Roxanne's arm.

"Do not move. Will make him angry,” he said causing Roxanne to immediately stop her next move and straighten up. She didn't understand why she would listen to him like that.

This statement not only made Roxanne stand still but also scared the others. Even though they couldn't see anything, they knew there was something real here. The two girls immediately ran behind Roxanne and the young man. The four men still tried to be tough even though they couldn't explain what had just happened.

The artist's soul began to move. He slowly raised his head to reveal an angry look and his hands also held the woman's head forward. Her eyes were closed but her mouth was open. A resounding scream from her mouth shook the whole house. Pictures hung on the wall and shelves fell all at once. The other four men finally believed that it was not just one living here.

"Who gave you permission to summon my wife's spirit?" The voice of a man sounded but made others feel like it was echoing from a big hole, both near and far.

“You guys need to stop this joke. No more fun,” the two women shouted.

“We didn't do anything,” the other three men shook their heads and showed innocent and shocked faces.

When they looked over at the host, he was still frozen in place. His face was opposite the woman's head. When the artist's soul spoke, it was also when they see his whole body.

“Ahhhhh!” two girls and three boys screamed at the same time and fell to the ground. They had successfully summoned the spirits of the dead. However, the game was not over.

“Why did you call my wife up without performing a proper ceremony?” When the artist finished speaking, the woman's head opened wide and took hold of the host's face.

The host immediately fell to the ground and the front half of his face disappeared. The rest of them could easily see the blood vessels, bones, and brain inside that half of the head. At this point, everyone ran away together. Roxanne and the young man were the last two runners.

Unexpectedly, the man holding the phone was the first to run. He still did not forget to return to these moments with his thoughts and feelings. He didn't know the danger would come to him first. The stairs were so old that they could not stand the rapid footsteps of seven people. The man holding the phone kicked down so hard that a step of the stairs broke and fell below. He didn't have time to prepare, so he fell too. However, the broken piece of the stairs coincidentally forms a sharp angle and points straight up. It pierced his chest.

The other two men decided to be more concerned with their own lives, so they didn't come back to see how their friend was. Suddenly, a large chandelier fell from the ceiling in front of the two of them. However, the person lying down there was the girl who ran after the man holding the phone.

No one dared to stay here any longer. They quickly ran to the main door. The door, which was originally loose, was now firmly closed. The strength of the two men could not pull it or push it away.

"Don't you dare leave here," said the artist's voice and footsteps behind them. This caused people to hit the door even harder to get out.

"Why didn't you let me run earlier?" Roxanne asked quietly so only the young man could hear.

"Don't you think the order of the dead is the same as the order of the first to flee," the young man said in a low voice, making Roxanne roll her eyes. She thought about it and then realized the problem. He saved her life.

As everyone was getting desperate, Roxanne saw the spirit of a headless woman standing in a different direction and waved at them. She didn't think much and ran straight in that direction. She didn't know why she did it, but her senses told her that the spirit was trying to help them.

The young man saw Roxanne run inside the house and panicked. He wanted to curse but held back and ran after her. The rest of them could only put their trust in the two of them, so they immediately followed. The spirit of the headless woman led Roxanne through a room and then to the dining room where there was a huge table and finally the kitchen. The headless woman stood next to the door and pointed out and then disappeared.

Roxanne took the doorknob with a deep breath and twisted it open. The door opened and a cold wind suddenly blew in. This was the back door of the house. Roxanne was delighted and ran out. She knew that there was always someone running behind her, but she didn't look back. If those people also got out, Roxanne would be happy for them. If not, that was the fate they had to go through.

Roxanne heard screams behind her but she didn't dare look back. She kept running even though she could not determine the direction. Later, Roxanne saw that a row of toilets built for the painter's servants had been abandoned. She decided to hide there.

Roxanne chose the last room and hid in and prayed. However, the footsteps and the artist's voice got closer and closer...
