From the school, Laureen and Zendaya headed straight to Zach’s office. Zach’s brows knit together the moment he saw his daughter’s tear-stained face.

"What’s going on, Laureen?"

Laureen guided Zendaya to the sofa and gave her some water before facing Zach. "There was an incident at the academy. Cyan was there, but instead of settling things, she scolded Zendaya even though she wasn't at fault. That’s why she’s crying. It’s a good thing your daughter called me, so I picked her up and brought her here," Laureen explained smoothly.

Zach’s fists tightened as he watched his daughter, whose eyes were swollen from crying.

"Daddy... Aunt Cyan also hurt Aunt Laureen!"

Laureen’s eyes widened as she shook her head in a mock attempt to dismiss it, but Zach’s gaze immediately moved to the faint mark on the woman’s cheek.

"Where is Cyan?" he asked, his voice dropping to a dangerous chill.

Laureen let out a theatrical sigh. "I don't know. My priority was getting Zendaya away from her, Zach. I was afraid of what else she might do."

Zach's jaw tightened in anger. "I’m taking Zendaya home. Come with us. I’ll drop you off at your place."

Laureen offered a secret, triumphant smirk. "Okay. But Zach, please, you have to stay calm when you get back to the mansion. Even if you're angry, Cyan is still a woman. You mustn't hurt her, okay?"

Zach took a deep breath before nodding curtly.

"Promise me, Zach," she urged when he didn't verbally respond.

"Fine. I promise," he said, before leading them out of the office.

Cyan returned to the mansion with a heavy heart. She went straight to the room she shared with Zach—the same room that had once belonged to Zach and Chloe. Once inside, she could no longer hold back the tears. The weight of her situation was crushing her. She was exhausted, reaching a point where she wanted to escape and run away, just as she had ten years ago.

She didn't know how long she sat there, lost in her grief. Eventually, her gaze drifted to the framed photo of Zach and Chloe on the bedside table. She picked it up slowly, studying their faces. They looked truly happy then.

"Why is it so hard to walk in your shoes, Chloe? Is this my punishment for leaving you behind back then?" she whispered to the empty room.

As she reached out to touch her sister’s smiling face, the photo was suddenly ripped from her hands. She looked up to find Zach standing over her, his eyes narrowed to slits.

"Zach," she breathed.

She had been so drowned in emotion that she hadn't even heard him enter.

He glanced at the photo he had snatched before slamming it back onto the bedside table. "I told you never to touch my personal things. Are you so damn stupid that you can't understand simple instructions or you just love defying me to get my attention?" He spat.

Cyan wiped her cheeks and stood up. "I'm sorry," she said quietly, attempting to brush past him, but he grabbed her arm with a punishing grip.

"Where do you think you're going? We aren't finished talking yet!"

She winced at the pressure. "You're hurting me, Zach."

"Of course you will really get hurt today! You caused a scene at Zendaya’s academy!"

Cyan met his gaze, seeing the fire of rage burning in his eyes. "You scolded my daughter in front of everyone? What kind of guardian are you? Is this how your parents raised you?"

She didn't flinch. "I did what was right, Zach. This time, it was Zendaya’s fault. What did you expect me to do? Coddle her while she treats people poorly? And for the record, I didn't 'scold' her. I told her what she needed to hear. All of this is happening because you aren't raising her with any discipline!"

"Stop lying, damn it! You always think you know best! What do you know about raising a child? I’ve been raising my daughter for years with Chloe while you were busy walking almost naked on a runway! Don't you dare lecture me on how to be a parent, Cyan. You're my wife on paper only. You have no rights here!"

Cyan looked at him, feeling a bone-deep weariness. Their arguments were always a broken record. "Why don't you ask your daughter what actually happened?"

Zach let out a sarcastic laugh. "We already spoke, Cyan. You attacked her even though she did nothing. And you weren't satisfied with that—you had to slap and humiliate Laureen in public too?"

Cyan frowned. Hearing those words, it was clear that the two of them had conspired to paint her as the villain. But she wouldn't back down. "She started it. I only defended myself."

Zach’s eyes thinned. How could Laureen hurt her when the woman barely knew how to raise her voice? "Liar! I know Laureen. She isn't violent. She’s done nothing but try to be a mother to Zendaya—something you’ve utterly failed at."

This time, it was Cyan who laughed bitterly. How could she be a mother to a child when they never gave her the chance?

"It seems Laureen hasn't just brainwashed Zendaya. She’s got you too, Zach."

Fury overflowed in Zach’s expression. "Stop trying to taint Laureen’s name, Cyan. No matter what lies you tell me, she is a good woman. And no matter how many times you try to tear her down, I will never look at you the way you want to. I won't love you the way I loved Chloe—and I especially won't love you the way I love Laureen now."

His words hit her like a physical blow, sharper than a sword. For two years, she had done everything to be a good wife and a mother figure, but her worth was never recognized.

She realized then that she had been playing the fool. No matter what she did, Laureen would always be the heroine in their eyes.

Maybe this was her karma for falling in love with her sister’s husband. She was finally facing the truth: no amount of effort would change her status in this house. She might be in love, but she wasn't stupid. Why had she allowed this family to treat her like trash for so long?

"Then let's end this fúcked up relationship, Zach. I want a divorce!”

Zach was being held by security guards as Kirk’s car, with Cyan inside, sped away."We’re going to have to take you to the station first, Sir—"One of the guards didn't even get to finish his sentence before Zach slammed his forehead into the man’s face. He seized the moment of shock to wrench one arm free. Moving with lightning speed, he punched another guard. As the third guard tried to step in, Zach landed a swift kick and a punch, then sprinted to his car and floored the accelerator..."Well? Did you get the job done?" Laureen asked Allen when he called her."We have a problem, Ma'am."Laureen sat up straight, her brow furrowing. "What do you mean?""Earlier, while I was heading to Mr. Anderson’s car, I ran into Mr. Samaniego unexpectedly...""And?""I—I wasn't able to carry out the plan.""What?!" Laureen stood up abruptly. "Didn't I tell you I wanted this job to be perfect? What have you done, Allen? Why couldn't you properly execute what I asked of you?!"She ran her hand throu

Zach was about to walk past the man when a thought struck him. If it were just Kirk, he wouldn't care what happened to the man. But what if Cyan was getting in that car?Damn it!Instead of proceeding to the elevator, he turned back toward the man who was tampering with Kirk’s vehicle. What made him look even more suspicious were the black gloves he wore on both hands."What are you doing?" Zach asked coldly. The man looked up, momentarily startled by Zach’s sudden appearance. However, the shock was brief, and he faced Zach with a surge of misplaced confidence. "What’s it to you? This is my car; I’ll do whatever I want with it."Zach let out a sarcastic laugh. "I know the owner of this car, which means you're lying. What are you planning to do to it?" he said, tilting his cap up slightly. The man froze when he saw Zach’s face. Based on the flicker of recognition in his eyes, he clearly knew who Zach was. Before Zach could even react, the man bolted, running away so fast he even left h

"What plane is she taking? We need to sabotage the flight so that Zach never sees her again," Laureen stated, her voice cold and emphatic. She used to think she could drive Cyan away just by subtly insulting her and wounding her pride. She never imagined that by leaving, Cyan would take Zach’s affection along with her.Laureen would never allow anyone else to claim Zach’s devotion. From the moment she first laid eyes on him, she knew that man belonged to her."Isn't that too dangerous, Ma'am? She’s flying with Dimicri Airlines. We know how high their security is; we can't just break into their system."Laureen fell silent for a moment, racking her brain for a solution. A few seconds later, a sinister smirk crossed her face. "Then we won't let her reach the airport. We need to finish her off while she's on her way there, Allen," she said chillingly.Allen was a loyal employee of her family. He did whatever she ordered in exchange for his freedom. He was wanted by the authorities, but b

"So? What's your next move? You said it yourself—you can't even get inside the building now because Cyan had you banned," Tyrone asked after he finished tending to Zach’s minor wounds."That's just the building. There’s no rule saying I can't be outside. I’ll just wait for her there. I’m sure Cyan has to go out eventually.""Don't you think Cyan will find that a bit... creepy?"Zach took a deep breath before shaking his head. "Do I have a choice?"Tyrone let out a heavy sigh of his own. "You’re right. Good luck, dude. I hope you can get Cyan back within those three days."Remembering the deadline his grandfather had imposed, Zach felt a surge of anger, his eyes darkening. That old hag was probably enjoying this punishment.Strictly speaking, it wasn’t even his fault. It wasn't his fault he was born to a poor father. His grandfather's punishment was crossing the line, yet he was powerless to stop it. He felt like a puppet, with his grandfather holding the strings, jerking him in whatev

"What the hell happened, Zach?!" Tyrone exclaimed in shock when Zach arrived at his office after coming from Cyan’s condominium.Zach let out a heavy sigh and sank onto the sofa. Tyrone immediately buzzed his secretary to bring a first aid kit."I’m asking you, Samaniego. I thought you were going there to talk things out properly with your wife? Why did you come back here looking like you went looking for a street fight?" Tyrone asked, his brow furrowed."I did just get into a fight, dude," Zach answered irritably."What the fúck? Who did you scrap with?"Zach snatched the ice pack the secretary handed him and leaned back. "Cyan’s attorney.""Why did you pick a fight with him? My advice earlier was to talk to Cyan calmly, not start a brawl.""That bastard kissed my wife, Saavedra! Did you expect me to just smile and talk to them like nothing happened?" Zach said sarcastically. He was certain that if Tyrone were in his shoes, he would have done the exact same thing. Who would be happy

Zach seemed to snap back to his senses, realizing what he had done. His lips parted as he looked at her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to—""Mean what? To insult me? Don't even bother apologizing, Zach. I don't need it. Do you know what I actually want? I want you out of my life. I don't need you. I don't want you. If you thought we were fine just because I helped you look for Zendaya, well, you thought wrong. Nothing has changed. And to make sure you never come back, I’m asking security to ban you from the premises. Today’s outburst is more than enough reason."Zach’s gaze slowly shifted to Kirk, who now wore a smug, triumphant smirk. So this was his plan all along… to provoke him. Kirk knew that once he exploded and hurt him, he’d have the perfect excuse to banish him from Cyan’s home forever.Damn this fúcktard!Zach lunged at him for the third time, but the security guards held him back firmly.Fúck!"I only came here to talk to you, Cyan. I have something important to say—""I don't
