The Dud

"Hey," I said happily.

"Hey," he replied calmly. 

"Cool car. Where'd you get it from?" I stared at the black sleek exterior in awe. 

"Borrowed it from a friend," he smiled. "Told him it was a special occasion."

I got in and we were on our way. I noticed he was dressed in smart casual and gave myself a figurative pat on the back for the dressing choice. His car smelled of fresh pine which was a pleasant change from the salty smell that my house was subjugated to. The interior was sophisticated and smooth. 

"You have generous friends," I marveled. "I'm not sure I'd let this beast out of my sight if I owned it." Which is impossible to even think I'd ever own something like this. I had gotten my driver's license just after I turned 18. I remember saving for months at my part time (now full time) job for the lessons and the final test. Passed it with flying colours.
