The King and the Scarface Luna

Mira's POV

"An Alpha King that cannot control his wolf? Pff! You gotta be kidding me!" Alpha Asher, the Alpha of Diamond Pack, exclaimed in disbelief.

"Come on, Asher. When did I start to be fond of joking?" Alpha Christian of Brownwood Pack asked as if he was trying to knock senses into his head.

Alpha Asher's eyes widened in shock and, after a few seconds, he burst into laughter.

We were all at the function hall of the palace where the important meeting of the seven pack leaders would be held. All the Alphas of the different packs are present with the exception of the Alpha of Blackwood Pack.

They were talking about their lives, interests, and also gossiping about the Alpha King while they waited for him.

I couldn't help but peek discreetly through my lashes at them. I had been interested in their discussions, but I felt hurt when they began to insult the King - our King - whom I had secretly loved for so many years.

"Are you serious about that, Alpha Christian? It would be a big sin if you're lying to us," Alpha Leo, the Alpha of Red Moon Pack, asked warily.

"Christian is right, Leo. My half-brother is a weak creature. That's the reason why we have one witch among the group of palace doctors whose job is just to put his wolf to sleep," Alpha Connor explained in a mocking tone and ate the grapes that had been served on the table.

"A witch?!" one of the Alphas exclaimed in disbelief.

"Yeah. My half-brother didn't hesitate to put the entire Kingdom in danger just to treat his weakness. He couldn't control his wolf to the extent that there is a high possibility he could become feral. He needs to be dethroned as soon as possible. The King is supposed to be the most powerful individual, and he does not deserve the title."

My hands were balled into fists and I was furious at what I'd just heard. Alpha Connor is the half-brother of Alpha King William. Everyone, including the servants, knew how much he envied the King and how badly he crave the position of Alpha King. He had been heavily disappointed at their parents' decision to choose William over him, and that dissapointment had remained always visible in his eyes and the way he talked.

I felt the urge to walk up to him and slap him. But I knew it would only happen inside my head. If I dared to do it in reality, my life would have ended instantly. I sighed at the thought of it.

"We didn't know about this. This is a serious matter," Alpha Roger in the Nightwood Pack said in a worried tone.

As far as I knew, Alpha Roger had witch trafficking business where he sold witches to interested buyers. His reason for doing such a thing is to protect his pack from danger. But the business and profit-making angle of it was difficult to explain with such a reason. Unfortunately, his pack are blind to his true nature because of his gentle aura and kind words. Little did they know that he is worse than most of the other Alphas. In fact, all of the Alphas are highly corrupt, with the exception of Alpha George who is seated quietly, listening to the five Alphas saying all sorts of negative things about the King.

"If that's the case, we need to find another Alpha to sit on his throne," Alpha Leo suggested in concern, and it was visible in his eyes that he wanted the throne for himself.

"You're right, Leo! None of you likes the King, right?" Connor asked, putting both of his hands on the table and staring at each one of the six Alphas.

Five of them nodded in agreement to his statement.

"Hey, George! Are you with me?" He asked the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack. But Alpha George simply ignored him and continued to sit in silence.

The snub seemed to hit his ego, but Connor fought the urge to make a scene.

"Oh! You weren't participating. I forgot that you'll pass your title to your younger brother Jacob," Connor said in a cool tone just to avoid being embarrassed in the presence of the other Alphas.

Alpha George still didn't utter a word. He totally ignored him and everyone else.

Connor cleared his throat and faced the five Alphas.

"We're all on the same page. We don't like the Alpha King and the werewolves in the palace don't either. Let's dethroned him and find someone else to take over the throne. But then, you don't need to worry about searching for the person most deserving of this position. You won't havr a hard time finding another King because I'm here! Alpha Connor is ready to save the Kingdome!" He said in a boastful manner and spread his arms with a wide patronizing smile on his face.

But to his surprise, the five Alphas only burst out laughing.

"Hey! What's funny?!" He growled, cutting off their laughter. His eyes were furious and his brow was creased by a mixture of confusion and anger.

"You are not qualified, Alpha Connor. You don't have pure royal blood; only Alpha King William does. You know that, right?" Alpha Christian said with a playful stare and then laughed again with the other Alphas.

Connor was boiling with rage, but he managed to control himself and simply crossed his arms. He couldn't find words to defend himself because the statement was true. His father was the Alpha King before his half-brother, William, took over the throne, and his mother was an Omega.

I was immediately thrown out of my reverie and my entire body went rigid when finally his eyes landed on me.

"Hey, you! What are you fucking looking at, useless Omega?!"He roared, alerting the others to my presence and making them look in my direction.

I quickly lowered my gaze and stared at my feet. My heart pounded so fast for fear of getting punished. I felt the other servants near me take a step back in order to be farther away from me.

From their actions alone, I knew I was doomed! In fact, he was now coming towards me!

As soon as I saw his pair of shoes just inches away from me, I closed my eyes tightly and tightened my grip on the hem of my clothes.

"Look at me," he ordered.

I couldn't think straight after hearing those words. I didn't know if I would willingly receive whichever punishment awaited me or instead, run for my life.

I knew he would not have any mercy on me because I was just nothing but a servant.

"I said, look at me!" He roared.

I flinched, and slowly I lifted my gaze to stare at his face. Tears started to well up in my eyes the moment I saw him smirk.

"What an ugly Omega," he spat as he stared at the huge scar on my left cheek. "I'll punish you for listening in on our discussion, you useless creature!"

My eyes widened in horror after hearing those words. My knees started to tremble and I feared I would pass out from extreme fear right there and then.

He lifted his right hand and was about to strike me, but he froze when the door to the hallway of the palace swang open.

"STOP!"

I shivered at the sound of the voice and slowly looked in the direction where the voice had come from. I saw the King looking in our direction with emotionless expression on his face.

"Alpha King William..." I whispered with tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Save me..."
