Chapter 1
The sounds of victory could be heard as they rounded off their fights. It had been a long day from training to fighting until victory was theirs. The King of Bakarish stood tall as he watched his men look for their women and the little kids dance for victory was finally theirs to talk about. For years, he'd hidden and watched the people of ICANAR destroy his home and turn his pop into slaves, hitting and flogging till there was nothing left but bones. For the past Nine years, he'd had nothing but hatred for the people of ICANAR and wanted nothing to rip them to shreds and for the first time in Nine years, he finally felt relaxed. His muscles ticked and the blood in his veins ran slowly and sweetly. He heaved a deep breath and released so soothingly. His people's song and laughter was the only thing that filled his ears and when he opened his eyes, he caught something more like someone hiding back behind the heaps of dry twigs and a smile crept to his lips when he saw that golden eyes."Bring her forward, the woman behind the twigs." He commanded. His men walked to the heaps of dry leave and twigs and pulled her out harshly, leaving small bruises on her back and the sides of her arms."Let me go, you barbarians." She yelled, tears falling down her eyes as she was dragged to the center of the square.Women glared at her, men teased to hit her but didn't, she flinched at every pull and soon enough she was on her knees before the new King of the land. She made to stand up, to talk them out of whatever was on their mind. She was going to yell if they made to kill her and although no one would come to her rescue..she would try."Don't!" It was hard and cold, it came with a huge sense of authority and aloofness. She looked up at where the voice came from. The King sneered at her, his eyes glaring daggers and she was sure she would have been dead if glared could kill. She shifted back and he came forward, she moved back again..all the while moving with her knees. She winced when a nail pierced into her skin. Her cry filled the entire silent forest and she shivered with the cold that came with it."What did I ever do to you all? The people of Baka...""Silent!" His voice thundered and she shook. It was so hard, so cold..that some of his men beside him moved back afraid. This was the kind of leader they wanted."I watched your father kill mine, I watch your mother laugh at my mother's corpse. I watch you sit down on the throne and watch like it was some favorite movie." He mumbled, going forward but this time she remained where she was, afraid but still."I watched you kill mine as well. I watched you slit my father's throat and your men stab my mother. I watch it as well you barbarian." She muttered, glaring at him as she spoke. He smiled. She was going to be his perfect amusement and he couldn't wait to break her walls and make her wail her heart out.Sooner she would look like one of those women who wanted nothing but to wish death arrives at their doorstep."You think you're all and big as they call you. Because you win every battle and kill innocent blood. You are nothing, just a piece of shit that will go back to sand when the day comes.""Whack!" The slap came with a heavy force and she fell on the floor. The slap was too hard, too strong that it split her lips and blood oozed."How dare you?" He groaned, grabbing her hair and pulling it back for her to wince in pain."You are nothing. You might have been something before but right now you're no longer a princess but a prisoner, a commoner, a perfect example of tyranny, a good-for-nothing daughter." He spat out.Tears welled up in her eyes. Was it the words or the slap that had got her crying...no one knew? She hiccupped and knelt well as the other hand caressed her cheek that she had been slapped earlier on."Listen, Everyone." He began. His voice was like a sharp shooting bomb and a dangerous bullet to whoever was ready to receive it.His coat swept the ground as he stood tall among his men and people. His handsome face had no scars and no wounds brightened due to the light of the Sun.He looked like one of those handsome paintings the ancient painters had mistaken for a god."We have gone to war and we've conquered back our land. The very same land they took from us for Nine years. For Nine years we've lived in bondage. we've starved so many times. For Nine years we've sat down and reminisced about life while some good-for-nothing children enjoy the good things they belong to our land. They act as if the land is theirs, while it was the same land left for us by our Fathers and fathers that had long gone." He said and smiled when his eyes met hers again and she paused her lips as if she had been wanting to say something."Today we took it back!""Yes, Yes.""We took it back.""They couldn't stand a chance against our King. He slit the throat of the Tyrant and killed the people that tormented us. He killed our killers and he'll live a happy life. Long live the King!" The first man yelled, and the others soon joined him."Long live the King.""And then he stopped with his hand gestures and he sighed."From this day forward, I King take Princess La Reine as my Slave."TBCChapter 22 Nothing ~Reine"Milady!" Ulia barged into the room, with a silk in hand."Hmm." I looked up from the embroidery I had been making. It was the only thing I could think of doing right now."Look! The King gave you a silk for the Art of Craft! Milady! I told you the King has a soft spot for you! Everyone is talking about it." Ulia twirled around with the silk in her hand. She pulled the pin down and the beautiful dress came into view.'Unique.' That was the only word I had for the dress.Royalty.This was one of the finest silks in the land.A fabric only worn by the noblest of them all.The King barely wears it and mostly for important meetings. Why would the King give me one of these? Was this another form of punishment? What was his game?He made me a Lady after declaring me a slave and now he dresses me up?"Drop it on the chair, Ulia, and come see my new embroidery?" I said and Ulia frowns."Do you not like it? I can hav
Chapter 21 Perfect~ReineMy whole body itches. It feels like I was thrown into a pool filled with writh grass. What was so important that they couldn't let me bathe first?I stood outside the throne room, scratching every reachable part of my body. The door to the throne room opens, and I step in.Unlike before, the throne room was empty and only the King could be spotted on his chair, looking down at me like he owned the world.Maybe he does."Your Majesty." I bowed, ignoring the part of my body that needed my fingers and nails."Sit." He ordered and I sat on the mat placed on the wooden floor. He said nothing afterwards, as he picked a scroll and began to read.I ignored the urge to roll my eyes and stand up. That would probably get me killed."Have you heard the rumours?" The King said, staring at me."No, I've been at the mine ever since morning, Your Majesty. I have not heard of any rumour." I answered."It's about a certai
Chapter 20 CaseReine~There was a death case at the Palace Courtyard. Maids, guards, everyone was talking about it. Someone died in the courtyard. Someone related to the Ministry of Rites. Some said, it was an assassin who flew pass the Palace huge walls killed him while others said, he was against a powerful family and that got him killed. None of it was my business as I sat on the chair, watching Ulia brush my hair."It will be very crowded outside the Palace today. I suggest you do not visit the Mine today." Ulia said."You've said this for more than ten times today, Ulia. And my answer remains the same. Do not worry, no one knows about me. Not everyone knows how I look and I will go with a veil." I replied and she sighed defeatedly. "I do not want anything to happen to you, Milady. If anyone dare try to harm you... I'll fight them myself, using nothing but a fork and I knife. I'm very good with that." She said and I smiled."Tha
Chapter 19 EnclosedReine~I walked out of the meeting room, arranging my dress as I looked for the King. Maids passed by and greeted me while some looked away and acted like I wasn't there. That wasn't my business. I had a place to be and I had to be quick with it.I was about to head to my room first and get dressed cause I had some alcohol on my skin and garment when I got stopped by the Lady who almost ran into me... calling it an accident."Lady Ursula.""Hmm. Lady Reine." She smiled and fanned herself. "Are you familiarizing yourself with the things of the palace?" She asked."You forget that I was once a princess. No need to do that. I was born with the blood running in my veins." I said with a smile and that seemed to piss her off."You're good with your tongue. I wonder how good you'll be if I cut it off." "Careful there, Lady Ursula. I've had enough of your little tantrums. Don't you know that a little of-" I snapped my finger and
Chapter 18 TemptationReine~He was a killer. The man who killed my father, my mother. My entire family and my people. Well, most of them. But why the hell do I feel sad when I think of making him pay for what he did to my people. The Kings were almost done with their drunken stupor. I walked back into the room and took a seat. The King of Latoli, King Herod smiled at me and stood up."This is the formal Princess of the Kingdom of Icanar, right?" He asked and chuckled. I was beginning to hate this man."Yes. Is she beautiful?" The King asked, sipping his tea."She is." He grinned, ruffling his beard as he stared at me lustfully."You've had a taste of this beautiful princess. Why not let me have mine. She's very beautiful, perhaps we can talk about being allies after you let.." He trailed off, winking at me."Oh please." The King gestured for him to go on. "She's all yours. You can do to her as you please but mind you, she's a feisty one. If
Chapter 17 SituationsReine~I was being dressed up like a doll. Just like the day of the banquet, beautiful beads and golden adornments were placed on my neck, head and different parts I could wear."Do I really have to go, Ulia?" I groaned as she placed another hairpin into my long black hair, rolling the hair up and smiling at her handwork.I had sent they other maids away, telling them she could do better and she wanted to do her best."You don't really have a choice, Milady. Do you?" She asked."You don't have to put it that way, Ulia." I rolled my eyes and she chuckled."You're the finest female in the whole land, Milady. They King won't be able to take his eyes off you. He'll be so enthralled." She clasped her hands together and looked away dreamily."It will do you so much good if you stop dreaming. I do not want to make him enthralled. I do not care whether or not he likes my dress." I said and looked at my reflection in the mirror
