Victory

Chapter 1

The sounds of victory could be heard as they rounded off their fights.

It had been a long day from training to fighting until victory was theirs.

The King of Bakarish stood tall as he watched his men look for their women and the little kids dance for victory was finally theirs to talk about.

For years, he'd hidden and watched the people of ICANAR destroy his home and turn his pop into slaves, hitting and flogging till there was nothing left but bones.

For the past Nine years, he'd had nothing but hatred for the people of ICANAR and wanted nothing to rip them to shreds and for the first time in Nine years, he finally felt relaxed.

His muscles ticked and the blood in his veins ran slowly and sweetly.

He heaved a deep breath and released so soothingly.

His people's song and laughter was the only thing that filled his ears and when he opened his eyes, he caught something more like someone hiding back behind the heaps of dry twigs and a smile crept to his lips when he saw that golden eyes.

"Bring her forward, the woman behind the twigs." He commanded.

His men walked to the heaps of dry leave and twigs and pulled her out harshly, leaving small bruises on her back and the sides of her arms.

"Let me go, you barbarians." She yelled, tears falling down her eyes as she was dragged to the center of the square.

Women glared at her, men teased to hit her but didn't, she flinched at every pull and soon enough she was on her knees before the new King of the land.

She made to stand up, to talk them out of whatever was on their mind.

She was going to yell if they made to kill her and although no one would come to her rescue..she would try.

"Don't!" It was hard and cold, it came with a huge sense of authority and aloofness.

She looked up at where the voice came from.

The King sneered at her, his eyes glaring daggers and she was sure she would have been dead if glared could kill.

She shifted back and he came forward, she moved back again..all the while moving with her knees.

She winced when a nail pierced into her skin.

Her cry filled the entire silent forest and she shivered with the cold that came with it.

"What did I ever do to you all? The people of Baka..."

"Silent!" His voice thundered and she shook.

It was so hard, so cold..that some of his men beside him moved back afraid.

This was the kind of leader they wanted.

"I watched your father kill mine, I watch your mother laugh at my mother's corpse. I watch you sit down on the throne and watch like it was some favorite movie." He mumbled, going forward but this time she remained where she was, afraid but still.

"I watched you kill mine as well. I watched you slit my father's throat and your men stab my mother. I watch it as well you barbarian." She muttered, glaring at him as she spoke.

He smiled.

She was going to be his perfect amusement and he couldn't wait to break her walls and make her wail her heart out.

Sooner she would look like one of those women who wanted nothing but to wish death arrives at their doorstep.

"You think you're all and big as they call you. Because you win every battle and kill innocent blood. You are nothing, just a piece of shit that will go back to sand when the day comes."

"Whack!" The slap came with a heavy force and she fell on the floor.

The slap was too hard, too strong that it split her lips and blood oozed.

"How dare you?" He groaned, grabbing her hair and pulling it back for her to wince in pain.

"You are nothing. You might have been something before but right now you're no longer a princess but a prisoner, a commoner, a perfect example of tyranny, a good-for-nothing daughter." He spat out.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

Was it the words or the slap that had got her crying...no one knew?

She hiccupped and knelt well as the other hand caressed her cheek that she had been slapped earlier on.

"Listen, Everyone." He began.

His voice was like a sharp shooting bomb and a dangerous bullet to whoever was ready to receive it.

His coat swept the ground as he stood tall among his men and people.

His handsome face had no scars and no wounds brightened due to the light of the Sun.

He looked like one of those handsome paintings the ancient painters had mistaken for a god.

"We have gone to war and we've conquered back our land. The very same land they took from us for Nine years. For Nine years we've lived in bondage. we've starved so many times. For Nine years we've sat down and reminisced about life while some good-for-nothing children enjoy the good things they belong to our land. They act as if the land is theirs, while it was the same land left for us by our Fathers and fathers that had long gone." He said and smiled when his eyes met hers again and she paused her lips as if she had been wanting to say something.

"Today we took it back!"

"Yes, Yes."

"We took it back."

"They couldn't stand a chance against our King. He slit the throat of the Tyrant and killed the people that tormented us. He killed our killers and he'll live a happy life. Long live the King!" The first man yelled, and the others soon joined him.

"Long live the King."

"And then he stopped with his hand gestures and he sighed.

"From this day forward, I King take Princess La Reine as my Slave."
