Chapter 5 Chapter Five

Author: Kimberlycullen14
Killian had taken his time coming to terms with what I had just said. He hardly showed any emotions, a fact that I had noticed in the brief moment we’ve been here. He was very good at covering up his intentions, hiding his thoughts through calm banter, a smirk and a chuckle here and there. He was good at not relinquishing power, not letting anyone see past his mask.

He was astonishing.

This is the point of no return. I could not take back what I had just said the same way I could not take back the air I had just inhaled. It was done, I had shown myself to him, stood there with the naked truth, nowhere to run, no false pretense, just the truth. My life had never been a bed of roses. I had nothing to my name, I was an odd child growing up. I have no friends. My life is tragic really, but a life is a life and no matter how much I wish upon a star I cannot change the past.

Genesis, you’re getting ahead of yourself.

My thoughts preyed on me, feasting on my fear. But I wouldn’t let them get to me. I still couldn’t read his face, not an echo of his thoughts passed through, he was like a stone wall, unreachable and that made me question everything.

“But do you have a wolf?” he asked, “If you are a Lycan then that means you have a wolf spirit inside you, so there must be a reason why you haven’t connected with yours,” he reasoned.

I must admit he was right, I do have a wolf, I feel her presence as strongly as how I feel the snow beneath my feet right now. She was real, she’s always there.

“Yes, I have my wolf, I can sense her, sometimes I can feel her emotions and when she rarely talks to me, she…”

“Talks?” He looked baffled. That worried me a bit,“ You can hear your wolf, it talks to you?”

“Yes. Doesn’t yours do that?” I chuckled.

“No Genesis, mine does not talk, to us our wolf is like a spirit, another entity within us that we can tap into occasionally, as with other werewolves.”

I felt my heart drop, was I mad I’m sure that I had heard my wolf, she was real as much as I am real, and she speaks to me… did I imagine it?

“No I am real, just different little one, we’re different,” The voice echoed through my head and I felt a strange warmness wrap around me making my fears ebb slowly away.

“Genesis. Your eyes, they just glowed right now,” Killian spoke, his hands cupping my cheeks, his hands felt gentle almost as if he was holding a flower, I wouldn’t mind being a flower. Flowers are beautiful. My mind wandered off again, and I heard the voice in my mind let out a small snicker.

“What about my eyes?”

“They changed…” He let go of my face, and I felt like I had been deprived of the sweetest feeling. I wanted it back. But I had to soldier on.

“Don’t yours when you communicate with your wolf,” I asked tucking the small strand of hair behind my ear, his eyes following my movements intently, tensioned filled the air.

“Yes but not the way yours have, a normal werewolves eyes are blue, Lycans, however, our eyes range from a bright yellow to a deep red depending on dominance,” He said in a matter of fact way, almost as if he was a tutor, as if he had recited these words ten thousand times but still remained enthusiastic. It almost made me smile.

“Then Killian, what’s so different about mine?” He looked at me like I had grown another head, I was fighting back the tears trying hard not to laugh, he looked so sickeningly adorable with the pout he had on.

“Genesis yours were purple,”

“I know,” and his mouth almost fell, and I couldn’t help it, my laugh flooded the forest as I let it all out. I knew deep down that this wasn’t at all funny, yet I laughed, maybe it was everything that has happened to me.

“Why do you find this funny,” he continued, trying to hide a small smile.

“I… I … I don’t find it funny Killian not at all, I’m simply laughing at the situation,”

“You are a very odd one Genesis,”

“So you’ve said Killian, are you going to hand me over to the king now, I heard he has a habit of collecting rare animals,” I teased.

It was no kept secret that the Alpha king had a reputation for keeping exotic creatures. He also had a reputation for being cold. He had wiped out whole clans and packs within his rule, everyone was weary of him, he was a legend in itself, said to have descended from the Goddess herself. He was unstoppable, a story to tell children into scaring them straight.

“You… Genesis I am… Have you never seen the king,” he fumbled, appearing almost shocked.

“I’m a slave, remember,” I said matter-of-factly. My legs were now failing me and I could feel the light pinch of my tensed muscles. I was tired, I had busied myself all night trying to clean everything before everyone awoke, even my eyelids failed me and I couldn’t hold back a yawn.

“You’re tired.” Killian said as he’s hand stroked my hair gently, his large hands making its way from my hair to my check and then to my neck, his thumb rested on my pulse, he must feel my raging heartbeat. I couldn’t help but sigh and lean into his gentle touch. Slowly closing my eyes enjoying the feeling of his presence, he was so close, our knees touched beneath the fabrics of our clothes.

“Come, let me take you back,” his voice now a bit lower, his breathing stronger. It made me shiver with excitement and I moaned out my approval as I felt him pick me up and my head laid on his farm chest. I rapped my arms around his neck to support me.

I was too tired to think about a lot of things, about how I am shamelessly being carried by a man who I had officially met just an hour ago. But I trust him, somehow I could sense that he wouldn’t hurt me.

“Genesis,” He called, “would you run, if given a chance, would you run away?” his voice coming across almost like a whisper.

“As fast as I can,” I replied as I found myself snuggling closer into his shoulder bone, I was breathing him in, his scent pulling me in nice and slow, making my bones turn to jelly.

I opened my eyes and peaked out at Kilian. His eye’s focused ahead, his mouth in a small scowl, and without thinking I held my hand out to his cheek and felt the prickling feeling of his beard pinch my palm and the heat of warm skin. He gazed down at me, his scowl turning into a smirk as he continued to walk, carrying me effortlessly in his arms.

I couldn’t think straight, between the sleep and his smell I was unprepared. Disarmed and fully out of control, my body had a mind of its own and right now all it wanted to do is be as close as Kilian could let me.

“Remarkable,” I murmured in my incoherent state.

“What is?”

“You are.”

Tilting his head to look at me, his brows furrowed a bit, and I smiled lazily at him. He was beautiful, just his presence alone was marvelous. He smiled, and my heart leapt to my mouth.

“What am I going to do with you, Genesis?” He said almost to himself really as he bent down, and I felt his soft tender lips on my forehead causing a whirlwind of emotions to come flooding through, he felt safe, safer than I have ever felt, and I let myself slowly relinquish command and let sleep over power me. And I just laid there in his arms.

The silence was deafening. I turned in the bed trying to make myself comfortable, holding on to the sweet fog of sleep but it was slowly ebbing away. I grunted and turned to the other side. It definitely wasn't the bed, it was comfortable too comfortable. Or maybe it was the sound of the trees of the sunlight that was practically blinding me. I open my eyes giving up on the hopeless mission to stay asleep my mind simply wouldn't allow me to keep on sleeping. The room was different.I sat on the bed and looked around. The green and gold sheer canopy that draped the sides of the bed blurred my vision but I could see it. The wooden dresser, golden mirror a large mosaic tile-like carpet, are no doubt from the human world or the Pixie clans. The floor was wood; the large oak tree occupying a large portion of the room was in the middle. I look up and I can see the blue sky up above. An enchanted ceiling just like the one in my room in the high eleven towers but the whole room looked differen

The campsites made its way into my view and I smiled. Ler had taken me back. What was even better is that I could see the rows of tents and the figures beneath walking about doing their daily duties, they were still there.Ler’s arrival had caused a few to look up and now a small crowd was gathering in front of us. I saw him through the crowd he stood there next to Grod eyes wide and a smile on his face. Ler landed right in front of them and they came closer.“You’re majesty!” Faran called out urgently as he came closer and almost in an instant was by my side. The rest of the camp had gathered to see me, they stood around whispering and looking. Faran was about to touch me when Grod and his headless form came into view. I felt the cold hands snaking their way onto my waist pulling me off Ler and into his hand. The sudden movement made me hiss out in pain. The feeling of my leg being moved made it difficult for me to focus.Faran looked at my leg, face paling.“Witch!” He shouted to no

I felt cold extremely cold my body trembled. The darkness weighed heavily on my consciousness. I felt my heart flutter thumping rapidly beneath my chest, my mind trying to capture what little my senses could pick up. And everything came into focus. My eyes snapped open but I quickly shut them, the light burning my eyes, once I’d adjusted I opened them again.I saw green, I saw the crystal blue sky and I heard the sound of rushing water. I felt my hair floating around as if being pulled and swayed ever so gently by the river bed, my body lay in the shallow folds of the bank's rocks making my body ache. My lungs burned and I coughed, feeling the water that was trapped within my chest cavity. I tried to stand up but my body failed me and I fell back down and let out a groan. My leg something was wrong with my leg, I could feel the pain, it was strongest there I pulled up my head and struggled to look at it, it was stained with blood a large gash tip running up to the highest point of my a

The moon was full and the night was fresh, for the most part of the night we’d spent in waiting now the thunderous noise of growls, hisses, and snarls made their way across the valley. From our point of view, high above In the distant trees hidden beneath its shadows we could see them clearly. We could smell the blood decay.I could see everything from here, the feeling of the wind rippling through my feathers as my eyes adjusted to the movements down below. When I turn into an owl somehow everything felt clearer I could see everything, I could hear everything. I look down surveying everything, finding out what was there I hadn’t noticed Jeffrey, maybe he had been hiding somewhere.Nevertheless, it was time. I fly back to the tree line spotting Faran in the group of elves almost immediately. He nodded his head and I shift back landing softly on the heavy tree trunk“What did you see?” Faran asked.I leaped down and walked towards the rest of the warriors belowground. Will came out of t

The grounds were ripe with anticipation. There was so much tension in the air. For the past three weeks, we'd strategized and talked and fought on the right course of action. A week ago we found that the vampires and terrors were moving closer to the southern borders, they were heading towards the bear shifter packs, cutting off the second strongest shifters before coming for the Kings land.A group of lion shifters who barely made it out with their lives brought the news with them. We ride on today.I walk towards the camps shifters readying themselves for battle, elves, fae, and seelies readying their armor. I could see the fear in their eyes. They were all afraid. That I could see quite clearly. The tents were full, large wolves walking about, the others were scattered about, some reigning the horses, others having meals, some in a circle just waiting. I spot Faran at a far distance, he walks about almost in an aimless manner looking at everything, stopping occasionally to talk to a
