Kaida’s POV

“Who is dying?” I asked after reluctantly taking the seat he offered earlier. He had left me no choice.

“My bad. I should not have said that,” he replied.

“Now that you have said it, you have to tell me who is dying.”

“Do not ask me questions, Kaida. Just listen and allow me to ask while you answer,” he said, his tone edged with authority.

Judging by the look on his face, this was about to be the longest question and answer session ever, even though I did not want it.

I hoped that no one was dying and that he had only said it to get my attention. He leaned toward a guard and whispered. I watched him do that.

“Answer the question I asked you earlier,” he ordered.

“I cannot remember. You will have to ask again,” I lied. I could still recall what the question had been about.

“Okay, fine. Have you ever noticed being tailed?” he repeated. I did not know why I wanted him to do that.

“No,” I replied.

I planned to give him straight forward answers and nothing more. That would help

Chapter One Hundred and Twenty OneKaida’s POV“Are you sure you don’t want to step out of the mansion just to...”“I’m fine, Selene,” I chimed.I didn’t know how else to convince her that I was okay. She had been looking out for me ever since she brought me back into the mansion yesterday. After I learnt that Kellan was my greatest enemy, my legs were glued to the ground and I was filled with so much anger, then Selene came to me and gave me the warmest hug.“Can I know why you brought me back here?” I folded my arms before asking her. We both remained seated on the bed in her room.“You can’t leave the mansion now that the pack members think you’re evil. The only place that is safe for you is the mansion.”“The pack members can’t get me here in the mansion, I get that. How about Alpha Kellan?” I put it to her.“There’s nothing about him.”“He’ll kill me like he did to my bloodline. He thinks I’m dangerous,” I told her.“The only way he can do that is if I’m dead.”Those words of her

Chapter One Hundred and TwentyKellan’s POV“I am listening,” I said.I needed an explanation on how the shadowed figure was able to come close to me yesterday after I asked that the pack guards be on the watch. How I was able to stay calm even though I was fuming with so much anger was what I had no idea of. I needed them to give me answers, Beta Tobias included.Left to Beta Tobias, I would still be in the wolf’s clinic by now. I left very early today because I wasn’t interested in spending half or all of my day there.“I just asked a question,” I reminded them. All the guards were on their knees and their heads were bowed. Beta Tobias wasn’t on his knees, not because I exempted him from kneeling, he just didn’t see the need to.I never asked that the guards go down on their knees, they all thought it was the best thing to do at the moment and I hoped they knew that it wouldn’t save them.“Your Highness, I think we have more pressing issues to attend to,” Beta Tobias cleared his thr

Chapter One Hundred and NineteenKaida’s POVI did what I had to do, or more like what I could. Thanks to me, the shadowed figure landed on the floor after I interfered in what was going on between him and Alpha Kellan. He had attacked Alpha Kellan when he least expected it, which was why he had the upper hand. Alpha Kellan was badly bruised and couldn’t stop panting.“Are you okay?” I asked him.“Leave, Kaida. He’ll hurt you,” he managed to say.I didn’t plan to do as he said. He remained standing, but it seemed as though he could fall at any moment. I held on to him and didn’t mind his blood staining me.The pack members were still not done howling, and their eyes were still closed. The shadowed figure had waited for the right time to attack Alpha Kellan.“We need to get out of here. Don’t worry about the pack members. He won’t hurt them because he didn’t come for them,” I told him after glancing at the attacker, who was still groaning in pain.“I’m not a coward.”“Yes, you aren’t.

Chapter One Hundred and EighteenKaida’s POV“I had no idea this seat was reserved for you,” Alpha Kellan whispered. That sounded to me as though he was asking why I was seated next to him. All eyes were on me, and I might have made a mistake listening to Selene. The pack members must have been wondering who I was and why I sat beside their Alpha. I knew I hadn’t responded to what Alpha Kellan said earlier; I was short of words. My heart raced, and I couldn’t help it. I wouldn’t have been surprised if he asked me to leave and go sit with the pack members. I did too much by listening to Selene.I wasn’t paying attention to what was going on, and it had to be because I was struggling to stay calm. Alpha Kellan was back on his feet; it might have been time for him to give another speech.“Hi,” a wolf seated not so far away from me said.I noticed he had been staring at me ever since I showed up. I assumed it was normal and that he would get over it soon, but I was wrong.“Hello,” I respo

Chapter One Hundred and SeventeenKaida’s POVAlpha Kellan had been speaking for minutes now, and he still hadn’t gotten to the part where he would introduce me to everyone as his second chance mate.Everyone listened to him with rapt attention, and I did the same. I remained in one spot and was a little far from him, but close to the people. If he didn’t introduce me to the pack members today, I wouldn’t take offense. If Selene hadn’t mentioned something about it to me, I would never have thought about it.Alpha Luca not being present was such a huge relief. I searched for him and was still searching for him where the Alphas were seated, but he was nowhere to be found.“Why are you here?” Selene inquired. She appeared in front of me from nowhere.“You scared me,” I cooed.“You know I didn’t mean to,” she said.I didn’t expect to see her here since she already mentioned to me that she would be busy with the chefs. She looked at me from head to toe and smiled afterwards.“You look so g

Chapter One Hundred and SixteenKaida’s POV“Isn’t this lovely?”I would give it to the event planner who decorated a part of the woods for tonight’s occasion. He or she did an amazing job, and I could not be more impressed. My outfit might just be the highlight of the night. I looked so good, and I knew because I had looked myself up in the mirror, and Alpha Kellan also could not stop staring at me.The pack members were already present, and euphoria was literally in the air. They all faced the podium, so they had no idea Alpha Kellan and I had already arrived.“Why isn’t he holding my hand?” I asked Aria.“I am guessing he does not want the pack members getting the wrong impression.”Often, it escaped my mind that Alpha Kellan and I were not a thing. I sometimes expected too much from him, and Aria was always more than glad to remind me of my position in his life.He was right beside me, and we were walking at the same pace. He had not complimented my look, and maybe he would not. T
