Chapter Two: Confession; The Voice.

Carlos, now awake and dressed after nearly 6 hours, was sitting on a big rock by the coast of the island, holding the dark blue amulet on his neck. Saturday morning had already come.

He was sitting there, pondering wildly in his mind while looking at this, this THING – a silver bullet.

He couldn't hold it for more than a few seconds or else his skin would start to aggravate.

"Who was that man?"

"What is this thing made of?"

"What did he mean by what he said??" Are the questions that kept ringing in his head, over and over again.

He gently looked up at the sky to the morning sun and asked...

"What the fu*k do I do now, huh?" Asking the voice in his head that he oh so trusts, to which it didn't answer.

"I have to find a new place." He stands up firmly and makes his way back. "I can't handle this guy on my own if I don't know what I'm dealing with. For now imma just keep laying low." He managed to reach a logical conclusion despite the lack of aid from his inner voice. Perhaps it was for the best.

Later back at school

It was afternoon in the school gymnasium of the house of the grizzly bears. The blazing mid-day sun shone relentlessly on the fellow students excercising their sweaty, youthful bodies.

"Hiyaa!" came a powerful swing from Evelyn's wooden sword, knocking her opponent's weapon away from his hands. She quickly closed the gap and aimed her sword at his neck.

"I concede..., as expected of Miss Evelyn! You skills are truly a thing to behold." the random white suit surrendered by raising his hands in front of his chest.

"Phew! That was quite the workout!" She reached her hand out to him and helped him up. "Thanks for practicing with me!" She let out a warm, beautiful smile worth a full year of sunshine. Her white mini-skirt swayed to the side from the gentle breeze along with her frosty white hair. She was in her gym clothes, training with her fellow "white suits" for the day.

As usual, Shaggy was right beside her, standing with fresh towels incase 'milady' started to precipitate.

"Wow, Miss Evelyn. You're as impressive as ever. Your strength alone puts most of the polar bears to shame." Shaggy said as he handed her a towel to wipe her face with.

"Well, I don't know about that, Shaggy..." she replied, slightly shunning her face to the right. Evelyn always had a wierd relationship with strength and power, like she was obsessed.

"But, it's true!" He persisted.

"I'm glad you think so, but I still have a long way to go." She smiled. "A long way to go before my power can change this world."

"Power to change the world, you say?" His eyes lit up in admiration.

"I know it seems ridiculous, but that's truly what I want. It's my dream. And I won't let anyone get in my way. Which is exactly why..." she grips the face towel tightly from both ends. "Which is why I can't stand it when Carlos refuses to face me!!!" Ripping the towel into pieces from the sudden burst of anger.

"He likes treating me like a little baby and I wish he'd just take me seriously for once! So annoying!" She continues.

(Fu*k... she hates me so much she can't stand it. I think I just died a little inside.) Carlos thought to himself from above a tree a few inches away from the gymnasium.

Spying on her was no problem for the beast-boy. His superior senses were able to detect their individual heartbeats and minute movements, let alone their conversation.

"I don't really get it, but I'm pretty sure that poor towel was supposed to be me, right?" He cried a bit.

(WHOAAAA!!!)

The beast panicked loudly in his head. Evelyn had just suddenly bent over to pick up the torn pieces and the wind was still blowing. Her weightless skirt was almost 'above the horizon' and ready to be blown off. Both Carlos and Shaggy patiently waited for what felt like centuries, powerfully staring at her behind. It was like a mission.

These perverts were so focused, their eyes looked like they were popping out of their sockets- it was hyper focus!

While on his 'mission', Carlos simply lost balance and smoothly fell off a branch.

"Ah, I'm falling..." he so carelessly thought on his way down. He hit the ground head-first and startled the crap out of everyone.

"Carlos??! And what might you be doing here?!?" You can tell her expression instantly switched from calm to WTF as she assumes a karate battle stance along with the rest of the polar bears.

"Wait, did he just fall on his head? From up THAT tree?" Shaggy exclamated.

"Wait, WAIT!!!"

He placed both hands far out in front of him in response to their greeting, seemingly after getting up from a fall that should've placed him in a coma. "I come in peace! I'm not here to fight you, Evelyn!" He tries to explain.

"Tch!" She hisses. "Then what are you doing here!?"

Her expression screams warning, he knows this is a bad time to confess, but nevertheless he braces himself. "Okay, here goes." gripping his already closed fists even tighter.

"Lik- l-lik-NO! L-lov-no, wait!!! L-l-like y-y-yo..." he tries to communicate.

"Hmm? Like? Like what?" She lowers her guard for a moment.

"Like SH*T!"

"Yeah. You look like sh*t, that's what I've been trying to tell you!" He points at her, breaking down under the pressure of confessing his love as expected. (Sh*t, I can't do this! I'm outta here!) Bolting out head first, he left the scene with embarrassment in his face, which could be seen dripping down from his nose and eyes.

"Wait-...!"

"He left!!? See, this is what I'm talking about, Shaggy! How humiliating!" Kicking the ground out of frustration, like a kid throwing a tantrum.

"Calm yourself, Miss Evelyn!" He pleaded.

"No way! I'll be heading back now. He's not getting away with it this time!" She said charging after him.

"Wait, Miss Evelyn!" He continued pleading but all he could see then was her trail of dust.

"Move it! Move it! Move it!" Carlos jumps over a bench and blindly bashes through two dark suits, knocking one of them off of their butts.

"Ouch!!"

"Hey, what the fu*k is wrong with you!?! Wait, is that Carlos? Why was he coming from the gym?" Asked Jackson, another popular black suit known for his gangster vibes and bold appearance, most notably his brown-dyed, low mohawk. He grabbed the side of the wooden bench he was sitting on with his thick hands and arranged himself properly.

"Yo, Jackson..." Xavier, the brainy partner of the gangster duo, placed his hands on Jackson's shoulder and pulled a sinister smile, which looked cool because his eyes were covered by his untidy black hair. "Evelyn's gonna show up any minute now. You know she likes heading back to the dorm alone. Let's gang up on her and take her down." His smile stretched even wider.

"You're right, Xavier. If we take her down here, the polar bears will crumble along with her. Grab my bat, we're doing this." Their smiles both synchronized.

They swiftly hid inside the bushes to prepare a sneak attack on Evelyn on her way back.

They were probably right on time because Evelyn showed up seconds later, hastily looking for Carlos.

"Huh? What's that noise? Is someone in the bushes? She pauses and thinks for a quick second.

"Hey Jackson, come out I can see you."

"WHA-!?"

"How did you know?!? he stupidly exposes himself and his position.

"I didn't. I was just trying my luck." She belittled him with a straight face.

"Why, you! I'll teach you to make fun of me! He charged out of the bushes with his bat ready to swing at her.

Evelyn, not even fazed, dodges and topples him over with one kick.

"What!?" He groaned shockingly.

"You're so predictable, man." Letting out a loud, exasperated sigh.

Xavier took the upportunity to try and pin her down from behind.

"You too, Xavier?"

She grabs his cardigan by the chest with both hands and archly swings him onto the ground on his back.

"Ackkk!!!"

He coughed up saliva. It's as if they had forgotten that Evelyn was highly trained in the art of self-defense. But that's not to say these guy were to be underestimated.

Jackson stood up and speedily looped his arms under her armpits. Before she knew it, Xavier had locked her legs in place with his upper body to prevent her from breaking free. Just as Jackson had firmly locked her in place, his partner pulled out a switchblade and swiftly cut her uniform from the bottom up, exposing her lacy bra.

Evelyn, now getting scared, gasped at how she could have let this happen to her.

"You stupid midnight savages...!" She snared at them, desperately.

'Get the fu*k outta my way!'

Out of nowhere, Carlos jumps towards her, snatching her away from them as they both rustle into an open space within some bushes.

"Gotcha!"

The leaves settle down and it doesn't take him too long to notice that her upper body is half naked.

"Whooooa!

What's going on here?!" He panics, creating some distance between her while looking away to the side.

Evelyn carefully opens one eye while slowly lifting her upper body off the ground.

"Carlos? Is that you?"

"Y-yeah...that's right."

"Listen, about before–"

"Did you save me?" She asks impatiently.

(Wait wait wait...

I may be a bit dull BUT, from her perspective, wouldn't it look like–???)

She crossed her arms over her chest, hiding her modest bosom as her eyes filled with sudden terror. Carlos instantly got the message and finally figured it out.

(NO– It looks like I was about to do something naughty to her!!!)

"Wait, Evelyn! Actually what I meant to say was–"

*TEAR DROP*

Evelyn begins to start crying.

Carlos froze out of shock as the tears began to flow.

She then takes off running while covering her open chest.

Another failed attempt.

He crosses his legs and looks down between them.

"It's all over."

With all hope seemingly lost, he picked himself up and left the bushes with his hands pocketed.

His gait was sluggish, which made him appear depressed. In his mind, he was thinking about how he could fix what just happened.

"Hah...." he sighed loudly.

(The Polar Bears House is right there! If only i had the balls to actually go over there and apologise to her...) he thought while passing by their House wall.

He takes over half an hour slowly walking before arriving at a plaza where he meets...EVELYN?

She stood there in front of a fountain fully dressed in her battle-ready uniform, apparently waiting for him to show up.

"Huh? Evelyn?!" His gloomy look quickly faded off upon seeing her. "Were you waiting for me? How did you know I was gonna be her–"

"Fight me."

She abruptly interrupts him with a surprising phrase.

The atmosphere was immediately saturated with dense awkwardness – mostly for Carlos.

"........"

their speechlessness bred a moment of painful silence. All they could hear was the constant blow of the evening breeze.

"I'm not going to fight you Evelyn. I already said I don't like fighting girls." He said, shunning his face to the side.

Using more force than necessary to stomp her foot, "Fight me!" She exclaimed once more.

"Whoa, Evelyn! Why do you want to fight so badly!?"

"Shut up! I'm going to ask you this once! Earlier in the bushes, did you help those guys attack me or were you saving me from them?" Her question was accompanied by a change in tone.

"If it was the former, then we're going to have to settle the score right now. If it was the latter then...why? Do you really pity me so much that you'd do such a thing?"

"Huh?? Me?? Pity you??? (Gaddamn, why is she asking me this?! Ain't no way am I telling her i did it cuz' I love her! That would be so damn CORNY! I'm playing dumb. I'm not ready for this!!!) He concluded his thought by deciding to wing it.

But the sheer determination in Evelyn's humourless eyes wouldn't take the bait. She was serious – this time it was personal, and he noticed it.

"You might not see me the way I see you, but in my eyes you're my rival! Do you know how humiliating I feel when my only rival looks down on me?!"

"I don't look down on you!"

"Yes, you do! I've trained so hard and I will not allow anyone to pity me, especially you! So fight me!!!"

(Hold on a minute...could this be the reason why she was crying earlier today? Because of this?) He frowns at the realization.

"All right, Evelyn.

Pass me the sword."

Breathing out firmly, she couldn't help but get a tad excited.

"Thanks."

"I really appreciate this." she tossed one of her very REAL swords at him. "Seems my feelings have finally reached you, Carlos."

Catching it with his left hand, "I'm going all out, Evelyn." He stances himself. (Because of my clumsy way of doing things, I unknowingly hurt her feelings. I'm going to pour everything into this one attack!) Internally clearing his resolve with a thought.

The two young, battle-ready students began unsheathing their swords slowly...

"Come at me with all you have."

They both mightily charged forward and took no more than two seconds before aggressively clashing into each other.

*CLASH* they met with sparks generating upon impact.

"I LOVE YOU, EVELYN!"

"HUH?!?!?!?!?!?" Her cheeks were instantly flushed.

"W-w-what are you saying all of a sudden, Carlos!?! Quit messing around!!!"

Taken away by the unexpected confession from her rival, she fully lowered her guard and almost lost the grip of her sword.

Carlos took a deeper step forward and leaned closer to Evelyn to the point of near contact, breathing softly on her face.

"I said I love you, Evelyn! That's why I don't want to fight you! I've been in love with you all this tim–"

"SHUT UP!" she replied bashfully.

They both quited down, panting and inhaling each others breaths as their eyes locked in place.

She looked to the side and drew a sad-like expression on her face.

".....it won't work."

"You know it won't work! It's impossible!"

(Bite her)

Carlos abruptly stopped and briskly took a step back. His expression visibly changed with a frown and earnest eyes as he directed his attention to what he had just heard. It was the voice! The voice he had waited for over a damn long time. Except this time, it's words weren't making sense to him.

Carlos thought for a bit before eventually responding with an acute "What the fuc–"

(Transform, and bite her...NOW) it spoke once again.

"The hell I am!!!" He whispered loudly.

"Uhm..."

"Are you alright?"

Evelyn asked, not knowing she had somehow turned into the third voice speaking.

(If you love her and desire her safety, you will bite her now)

"You're not making any sense! I can't just turn and bite her out of the blue, man!"

(......)

"Hello? Are you still there!!?!"

"FU*K! Not again!!!"

*CLASH*

"Pay attention!" She catches him off guard as their swords clash. "As I thought...YOU WERE JUST MESSING WITH ME WEREN'T YOU, YOU JERK!"

Carlos held on and managed to gently shove her back.

"I'm not going to bite her!

But...!!!

The voice has never been wrong before! What did he mean by her safety?

What would biting her accomplish?

Maybe I can figure this out."

The fight goes on and on as Carlos simultaneously defended against each and every one of her attacks while thinking to himself, further ticking her off.

Just as she was getting ready for a final attack, Carlos removed his blazer upwards and wrapped it around his head after which he slowly rolled down his sleeves. He then threw his sword away and this time around, charged towards Evelyn!

"Finally!!!" She smiled.

She swung her sword at him, only to see him vanish before her very eyes.

Carlos appeared behind her and grabbed her arms from the back. He leaned onto her neck and slowly pressed onto her skin with his teeth, eventually sinking into it.

He actually bit her.

Not knowing the implications of his actions beforehand, he just blindly went with the "voice" in his head - a rather weak-minded choice.
