The command echoed through the room like an undeniable decree, sending an involuntary shiver down Vittoria’s spine.

She didn’t need to open her eyes to recognize that deep, resolute voice, as commanding as the man himself.

Still, with trembling fingers, she slowly lowered her hands from her face.

Her heart raced, wildly out of sync, the moment her eyes locked with Vincenzo’s.

There was something in his steely, unyielding gaze that threw her completely off balance.

“Don’t dawdle,” Vincenzo said, tossing a package onto the bed with deliberate force, his voice restrained but betraying the tension of someone fighting to keep their irritation in check.

“Who do you think you are?” Vittoria snapped, springing from the bed as if each of his words reopened an old wound. “How dare you speak to me like that after everything you’ve put me through?”

“What I put you through?” he echoed, tilting his head slightly, his eyes boring into her as if dissecting her every thought.

Vincenzo’s smile unfurled at her words, slow and almost lazy, spreading from his lips to his eyes with a razor-sharp confidence. There was something insolent in that gesture, something that provoked and commanded all at once.It was the kind of smile that set Vittoria’s blood ablaze—not just with anger. Because, as much as she loathed to admit it, that damned smile pulled her in.It infuriated her with its arrogance, its certainty, the way it read her and prodded her, knowing exactly how to strike without even lifting a finger.“Hate?” Vincenzo questioned, his hands gripping her waist firmly, drawing her closer until no space remained between them. “Interesting,” he drawled, unhurried, as if savoring the taunt. “Let’s see what your body has to say about all that hate.”Without waiting for her reaction, his hands roamed her body with a bold, teasing touch, as if he knew every curve with the intimacy of someone who’d claimed her before yet still craved her like it was the first time.Hi

Tommaso forced a tight smile, trying to mask his unease as his fingers fidgeted across the phone screen.“Tell me what’s going on, Tommaso. Don’t you dare hide anything from me,” Vincenzo ordered, his voice sharp, impatience burning in every line of his face.Vincenzo stood again, this time with more controlled movements. He braced himself against the bed’s edge to keep his balance, forcing his body to adapt despite the weakness still gnawing at him.“Vittoria,” Tommaso muttered, extending the phone toward his cousin, his expression taut. The moment Vincenzo’s eyes landed on the photo, his jaw clenched so tightly it seemed every muscle in his face reacted to the blow.Tension rippled through his body in silent waves, his fingers gripping the phone so tightly that it was as if he wanted to shatter the image with his bare hands.“Where’s my stuff?” he demanded, anger clear in his tone as he referred to his belongings.“What are you planning?” Tommaso asked, eyes locked on him, watching

At the mafia compound, Giuseppe completed another routine check, closely monitoring Vincenzo’s condition. As he finished, he left the room, closed the door behind him, and looked up to find Tommaso in the corridor, still, arms crossed, as if he’d been waiting.“How’s he doing?” Tommaso asked, straight to the point, with the same no-nonsense tone he used daily.“Sedation’s been adjusted,” Giuseppe explained. “But don’t expect him to wake up right away. After five days under, his body will need time to clear the sedatives. He’ll start showing signs of waking in the next few hours.”“Good. Let me know the moment he’s up,” Tommaso ordered, firm, his gaze shifting as he noticed Fabrizio approaching.“It’s not wise to push him with questions, Tommaso,” Giuseppe warned, keeping his tone professional. “In the first hours, disorientation is normal.”“I know that,” Tommaso replied, curt, eyes fixed ahead. “So, how’s she doing?”“She’s better,” Fabrizio answered, directly. “She’s been in her roo

Alfonso’s irritation was palpable, evident in the quickened rhythm of his breath, his chest heaving with force, his jaw clenched so tightly it seemed ready to crack under the strain of his restraint.“What are you doing here, Fabrizio?” Alfonso demanded through gritted teeth, his voice thick with anger, his eyes narrowing sharply.“Looking after my family's interests,” Fabrizio replied, stepping closer to the bed, each move deliberate and purposeful. “How are you, Signora Lucchese?” he asked, offering a polite smile. “Fabrizio Lucchese, I'm cousin…”“I know who you are,” Vittoria cut in, her voice faint but resolute. “What are you doing here?”“Protecting my cousin’s interests,” Fabrizio said, his gaze steady on her. “Vincenzo had to leave urgently,” he added, shifting his eyes to Alfonso, watching every reaction closely. “And considering you’re now a…”“A De Angelis,” Alfonso interrupted, his voice sharp, brimming with unquestionable authority. “That’s the blood running through her v

The surgical lights bore down on Vincenzo’s pale face, sprawled across the table, his skin clammy, lips tinged purple, eyes half-open, staring blankly into the void.“Venous access, now!” Giuseppe commanded, swiftly assessing the extent of the damage.“Pressure’s nearly gone, no pulse in the arm!” the assistant warned, already struggling to find a vein. “He’s in shock, circulation’s collapsing!”“Oxygen mask, one hundred percent, now!” Giuseppe ordered, securing the mask over Vincenzo’s face.Scissors sliced through his skin, tearing apart blood-soaked clothes. The sharp sound of fabric ripping mingled with the metallic clink of forceps, moving swiftly to isolate the visible shrapnel embedded in his body.“Chest distended, trachea deviated!” the assistant reported, pressing hard on Vincenzo’s chest. “Air trapped in the lung, compressing everything—tension pneumothorax confirmed!”“Large-gauge needle!” Giuseppe barked, already preparing the cannula. “Second intercostal space, midclavic
