Naomi

I’d slept from nearly as soon as Karl had left the West territory, we were officially in the north. My whole body sank into the seat relaxing as soon as we crossed that border, I didn’t have another thought as my body put me to sleep. Safety really makes a girl sleepy it seems.

Karl touched my shoulder gently, I had been waking up but the contact still made me jump. I sat up slowly and opened my eyes, we were going along a small dirt road. There were big gates ahead of us laying open.

“We haven’t needed to close them since I became beta” Karl said proudly.

I dramatically looked up at the sky and said. “Moon mother I swear if you’ve sent some egomaniac with a savour complex to rescue me imma be pissed!” I wagged my finger to the sky for emphasis.

Karl’s laughter was more of a cackle than a laugh.

“HaHa very funny.” The dry sarcasm dripped from his voice but his smirk and dimples told me he was enjoying the exchange.

“Is this what its like to have friends” I asked him. He regained his cheery exposure quickly and with a shrug he said.

“Dunno, I’ll let you know when I find some.” I was smirking back at him now.

“HaHa to you.” I replied and then the norths pack house came into view and my mouth hung open in shock. Karl’s finger closed my jaw gently and I could hear him laughing again but my eyes were glued to the house, mansion, maybe estate? Is the better word. The stone itself was beautiful as it wrapped around the sides of the mansion. The brick work alone a masterpiece. There was flowers hanging and weaving all along the wooden porch. The wood gleaned in the early sunshine. Like it was proud to be displayed so beautifully. The windows had vines growing up and around them. Just starting to flower in the spring sun.

I mean this pack had money! MONEEEEEYYYYY....

“You guys are rich rich then.” It wasn’t a question and Karl didn’t bother to answer it.

“I’ll shut that fly trap for you there.” My mind was already light-years ahead as a man stepped onto the front steps and my soul skipped a beat.

Karl

I knew my best friend and alpha like the back of my hand. As soon as he stepped out onto the concrete front porch just under the wooden awning I knew he had felt it to. Naomi’s eyes had flashed gold and I caught the mirror flash in Alecs. But he didn’t move from the porch. I had wondered if Naomi would be one of our mates, that maybe if she is from the lost Alphas bloodline she would probably be Alecs mate rather than a lesser pack members. It looked like I was right, but my Alpha did not seem happy about it.

Naomi wasn’t conventionally wolf like, she had curves upon curves in all the right places. But she didn’t look or behave like a wolf. She was small but not short, like she withdrew herself into the smallest possible size so she could disappear. Given where I found her thats no surprise. Her hair was long and black, but not like the she wolves in the packs. It was uneven and straggly. I thought I’d seen some twigs in there somewhere to. She was so pale, you could mistake her for a vamp and no one would be mad that you had. Malnourished definitely. But she had an inner beauty that I had seen in very brief glimpse when she had laughed unexpectedly. It was under layers and layers of pain but it was there. Anyone who can live with what they had done to her year after year was packing some serious resilience.

Naomi didn’t portray strength though and I knew Alec, he had already calculated in his head the risk to having a weak link directly attached to him and all the ways Naomi could be used to blackmail him or hurt both of them.

I knew the exact second he decided to not accept her and my heart broke for her.

What the fuck am I meant to do now?

I’ve just promised Naomi that no one will ever hurt her again and now we’re metres away from the most painful event a wolf can go thro.

Their mate rejecting them.

Naomi I half woke up, I felt pain from my wrists all the way up my arms spreading across my shoulders and back. I tried to wiggle my foot to feel if I was next to something or on a table. I felt something on my back but I wasn’t lead down on it and my suspicion was confirmed there was something under my foot. So not totally suspended in thin air but close enough for the pain. My foot was more grazing the floor rather than supporting my weight on it. That was all my arms and my wrists that were chained above my head spread either side. “She’s waking!” a demonic child’s voice said. “Mistress?” A voice I recognised to be the witch who had pointed her finger to me at me resounded. “Dose her up again. Let her hang. I need to grieve deeply.” I heard a telecoms sound and realised I couldn’t smell the witch. They have a distinct smell as soon as their magic turns grey to black. It smells like a wolf kill that has been left in the sun, dead blood and bones that’s gone mouldy with maggo

Alec And just like that.....puff gone in a cloud of weird looking ash. I tried to get to her but it was seconds and my head was still reeling from pausing time. It was like I was split in two and my shadow was catching up to my body, but it wasn’t just my shadow it was me suspended in time. Goddess help me if I ever get stuck. That thought was enough to put me of doing that again. As soon as my hands came back empty something changed inside me. My soul fractured and my body reacted. A primal roar left me, it spread my pain all through our ranks. Then I felt the goddess directing me to look at our bonds, see how they branch of into the separate packs? It wasn’t always this way. She was mentally telling me. We used to have one, one alpha to rule them all. But we became to many for one wolf to handle their collective power. That is until you, my child. Now draw them in. Call them to you as the whole. Break down those pack lines and unite our wolves once more. Together we are str

BeccaOh shit! I looked at Alec and had everything we had learned as kids confirmed as he made a single motion that only I and Karl knew what it meant. A single finger was run across Alec’s neck as he stared at us. I glanced at Karl he had caught on to. The three of us had years of conversation as teens come back to sit right in front of us and point a very ghostly finger at Naomi. We looked at Alec then the ghostly figure. Karl and I turned to each other in absolute shock. The years we had spent doing recon on this woman was quite frankly fucking insane. We knew when she had her first human meal of the day. We had gone that deep down the rabbit hole and a rabbit whole it was. Apparently she had been up to exactly what we had been telling Tom she was up to for years. The level of....oh we fucking knew it!! Light bulbs that were going of between us was insane. We stood there suspended in mere seconds that felt like a lifetime. Years of conversations coming back into the for

NaomiMy Blood was nearly completely covering the candle. It also wasn’t moving normal. The first drops had run down like normal, but now my blood was moving very slow and attaching itself to the other droplets. Making a kind of mesh system around the candle. “That’s so weird.” I had to agree with Becca on this one. The candle got bigger and then smaller it looked like it was breathing. “it’s not able to break the blood, its trying and failing by the looks of it.” Alec said and I nodded. I squeezed my hand forcing more blood to drop down. With that the mesh system had enough. The candle inflated and tried to break the blood mesh a final time before deflating, this was a defeated deflate though. It literally sank into itself like a shrivelled prune. My blood covered it now and its kept getting smaller and smaller. Finally it was a red smear on the table. I bit down on my hand again and continued with the last two candles. We now had 3 red smears and the black candles to go.

Naomi“She already has enough of a god complex!” I moaned to them all. My wolf was eager to get her monster on and thought she was the absolute shit. I knew as soon as Karl said that we needed a monster to fight the monsters, I knew she was going to be like this.“You don’t have to deal with her. I now have the wolf ego Olympics going on and she’s going for gold!” Becca’s head rocked back as she cackled like a witch. That was Becca’s standard laugh but I’d never made the connection till now. “Feeling at home Bec’s?” Alec teased and got a slap across the chest backhanded from her in return. It didn’t stop her laughing. “We all have that. Everyone’s wolf thinks they’re the best.” Karl said. “Right concentrate. Nay do you need anything? Can you shift on command without impending doom?” Alec flashed me a smile. “She tells me yes we can and I think she knows what to do though I don’t know how she would.” I told him trying to relay what was going on in my body to him. “You mu

NaomiAlec had gone not long after we’d gotten back to the pack house and up in our rooms. He said something about going to talk to the patrol wolves for the pack to see if they’d noticed anything and then he’d be back to get me so we could all go see what Karl had found. I’d taken a really long shower and when I came out I found a big bowl of stew and some crusty bread rolls. I sat there in my towel and inhaled the food. I made it onto the bed just in time to fall asleep. But my sleep was anything but peaceful it was filled with my father’s voice warning me. I wasn’t able to see him but I knew it was his voice. I just knew. He was giving me stark warnings of witches being evil and they already had a taste, they want to tap to be back on. It was all very old werewolf coded and I didn’t really get what he was saying apart from the witches are evil. Like yea no shit. Not sure I needed to be told that after what I’ve heard about them now. I got dressed and just as the top was pul
