Chapter 4

Penulis: Sweetie Moore
Under Blair’s satisfied gaze, I tossed the agreement into the trash.

Blair frowned and looked shocked. Then, she immediately became calm again.

She turned around and glanced at Sam, who was scrutinizing the painting near the entrance.

Before Sam looked over, Blair quickly planted a kiss on my cheek.

She slid her finger against my palm and said softly, “Liam, Sam’s still around. Let’s not fight. Otherwise, he’ll be laughing at us.”

After that, she quickly distanced herself from me and walked toward the entrance.

“Sam, aren’t you tired of standing? Come in and have a seat.”

I found that hilarious.

Even though we were a married couple, we acted as though we were having an affair. She was trying to comfort me by sneaking a kiss.

Blair dragged both Sam and me onto the couch and made us some tea.

Sam held the cup and felt it was a little hot, so he blew on it to cool it down. He said anxiously, “Liam, did you paint that painting at the entrance? It looks really good!”

I did not even want to look at him. I stared intently at the divorce agreement that Blair was using as a coaster.

If she had glanced at that paper, she would have known the reason why I packed my suitcase.

“Liam, I heard from Blair that you’re a great lawyer. Can you give me some words of advice?”

Seeing that I was not responding, Sam pursed his lips and carefully asked again.

Blair frowned slightly and glanced at me.

I knew that she was unhappy with my reaction. However, I was basically mute. I had no voice to respond with, even if I wanted to.

“Liam, I’ve always looked up to you as my role model. I want to be just like you one day!”

Sam looked innocent. He looked as though it had taken him a lot of courage to say that.

I looked up and saw a hint of mischief in his eyes.

I suddenly had a bad feeling.

Blair’s frown deepened as she was about to speak.

However, before she could say anything, Sam took a sip of the hot tea and gasped. It seemed like he had burned his mouth, and he teared up.

He wiped his tears with the back of his hand and smiled at Blair.

“Blair, I think Liam doesn’t look too happy. I don’t think he likes me being here, so I’ll just go…”

After that, he stood up abruptly and accidentally spilled the teapot by bumping into it.

Immediately, the hot tea poured everywhere.

The tea splashed onto me. A lot of it got onto my hands. My hands were burned red.

I grunted as cold sweat beaded on my forehead.

“Sam, are you alright?”

Blair threw herself at Sam. She carefully examined him.

I stared intently at Blair’s frantic gestures.

I suddenly wanted to laugh at myself.

She had never cared about me this much.

Blair glanced at me instinctively and met my eyes.

She trembled and immediately let go of Sam.

She looked down and saw my burnt hands. My hands were sore and red.

Her eyes widened in shock and fear. She grabbed my wrists tightly and said anxiously, “Liam, you’re hurt! Why didn’t you tell me?

“I’ll take you to the hospital now…”

I immediately flung her hands away.

I took out my phone from my pocket with difficulty and started typing despite the pain.

I passed my phone to her. There were a few words on the screen.

[Don’t act as if you care. Thanks to you, I’m mute now.]

If that was the case, it would be hilarious. “Liam, I removed my makeup. Let’s go!”Melody walked over. She was dressed in white with a bare face and looked youthful and beautiful. I let down my guard and smiled. “Alright, let’s go.” Blair stared at me in disbelief. She roared, “Liam, stop right there!” Her voice was trembling. She no longer looked like her usual calm self. It was as if she was possessed. She grabbed my hand tightly with tears in her eyes. She pleaded, “Liam, I was wrong.” I was shocked. Blair, who was arrogant and aloof, was admitting her mistakes. She looked down and grabbed my shirt tightly, as if I was her last hope. “Liam, don’t leave me, alright?“I heard you were in this city, so I made an excuse to Sam to come here because I wanted to see you. I also want to make you jealous. “After you left, everything I see reminds me of you. You’re gentle and caring toward me. I see your smile every time I close my eyes, and I keep hearing your voi

I felt very calm and secure with myself. At first, I had some nightmares about my past. In my dreams, I kept asking Blair if I was any less than Sam and woke up crying. However, I had almost forgotten what they looked like. It was another musical festival, and I was the piano accompaniment for Melody. On the stage, we kept exchanging glances. When we did that, the crowd cheered for us. After the song was over, I held Melody’s hand as we bowed. She said she wanted to take off her makeup, so I busied myself on my phone.Someone bumped into me, and I apologized. However, the person grabbed my hand. I turned around and said, “I’m really sorry—Blair?”I looked at Blair, who looked very haggard and tired. My eyes widened in shock. What was she doing here? How was it possible that she was here? Blair looked upset. Her voice was shaking as she asked, “Who’s that woman?“Why didn’t I know that you could play the piano?”I could not believe my ears. I thought I had hear

I snorted. “Sam, where’s my stuff?”I did not care about other things, but I did have a family portrait in my office. I did not want to lose that. Sam sighed and said, “Liam, your voice is aggravating. Can you even attend court like this? I bet you’ll be chased out.” “Sam!” Blair shouted. She slowly walked in and glared at Sam. He immediately quietened down like a terrified child and pouted in anger. Then, Blair turned to look at me. “Liam, there have been a lot of cases at the law firm recently. I’m too busy, so I…”I raised my hand to stop her.“Ms. Reid, I’m here for one reason only, and that is to submit my resignation.” I took out my resignation letter and passed it to Blair. “Oh, by the way, Ms. Reid, have you signed the divorce papers yet?” Blair bit her lower lip as her gaze darted around. I could not tell what she was thinking or feeling from her face. Sam took out the signed divorce papers smugly and threw them at me. He said proudly, “Liam, when

“Baby, you drove me to and from work, and you stayed up all night to help me prepare for the case. You encouraged and comforted me. Was everything fake?“You told me you never did anything like that with Liam, and you did all that just for me.“You said that you’re only with Liam out of habit and only knew love when you met me!”I took a deep breath. My heart was breaking at Sam’s words.I never knew that Blair thought of me that way. It turned out that Blair was capable of caring and loving others. Her coldness toward me was because she never loved me. It seemed funny to me that I believed that if I worked very hard, I would gain her affection one day. I thought she would finally smile at me.“Sam, shut up!” Blair said angrily. Her face darkened. It was the first time I had seen her that angry. Sam was upset, so he teared up. He sobbed and said, “Blair, I’m terrified of the antiseptic smell, yet I’m here in the hospital with you! “But you’re protecting your husband

I instinctively looked at my hands and realized they were both wrapped tightly in bandages. Blair was asleep at the edge of my bed. She seemed extremely tired, as there were bags underneath her eyes. She looked calm and beautiful. However, I felt nothing toward this face that I was once so in love with. Blair sensed my movements and immediately jolted awake. She looked up abruptly and met my gaze. Then, she smiled and exclaimed happily, “Liam, you’re awake!” My heart skipped a beat. She had smiled at me.In the past, it had been so rare to see her smiling at me like that. However, at present, she was smiling happily at me. Why was she doing this?“You…”I wanted to speak, but my voice was hoarse, and it sounded very harsh to the ears. However, compared to how it was before, it was a lot better. I widened my eyes in shock and wanted to say something else. Blair covered my mouth in worry. She said softly, “Liam, the doctor said that your vocal cord is seriously

Blair’s face immediately turned pale. She stared at me in disbelief. It was hilarious. It was the first time I had seen such a shocked expression on Blair’s face. She usually looked confident and calm. I picked up the divorce papers that were soaked with tea and passed them to Blair. I gaped as I really wanted to tell her that I wanted a divorce. But I could only force out a few rasping sounds. I felt a searing pain in my throat and could not say a single word. Blair did not care what I had passed to her. Instead, she stared at my red and swollen hands. It was the first time I had seen such vivid pain in her gaze. I was deluding myself. How was it possible that she cared about me?Instead, she must be blaming me for not taking care of myself. She said softly, “Liam, don’t take it the wrong way, and don’t be angry at me. Let’s go to the hospital first. We can discuss the rest later.” I stubbornly shook my head and pointed at the divorce papers. That brought her att
