Mag-log in**Rowan's POV**
“Is this even necessary?” I growled, looking at the invitation card in my hands with the Whitecrest Pack seal. “Since when do I go to such events?” “We need to mingle with other packs if we want to make alliances with them,” Flynn said, looking at me seriously. “This is important, Alpha. We can’t miss this opportunity.” A scoff escaped my lips. “What opportunity are we going to miss? What does the Crescent Moon Pack lack?” Flynn sighed heavily like he had the weight of the whole world on his shoulders. He was my beta and had been for the past five years since I took over from my retired father. I think he was finally starting to get tired of me. Soon, he might leave just like everyone else. “We may be the richest and strongest pack, but we will soon weaken if our Alpha has no Luna. Most of our pack members haven’t been able to find their mates because we’ve closed ourselves off. We don’t interact with other packs, and we can’t have people who just have chosen mates. We need fated mates too. It’s the goddess’ wish.” I arched an eyebrow. “So, you want me to go to this shitty event to play around just to look for a mate? Dude, I’m twenty-seven. If I had a mate, I would have met her by now.” “Oh really?” Flynn asked. “She would have dropped from the sky?” A growl escaped my lips. “Don’t speak to me that fucking way.” “Sorry, Alpha,” Flynn said, straightening his back, but I knew he wasn’t afraid. He was the only person who could tell me off, and my wolf would tolerate him. “We all just want you to find your fated mate. And most of our pack members are looking forward to meeting theirs too.” I fell silent for a few seconds before saying, “A mate? I’m not interested in such a useless thing.” Flynn inhaled sharply, and I was sure he would give up on me now. “Alpha, please… this is your father’s wish. He knew you got an invitation and accepted it on your behalf. Who knows? You might find our Luna,” Flynn remarked. When he saw that I was still not interested, he added. “He also said if you don’t find your mate, then he will arrange for you to marry Brooke–” “The fuck?” I growled, and Flynn smirked at finally getting my attention. “Why the fuck would I marry Brooke?” “Oh, you know why… she was the late beta’s daughter and since she’s an orphan and your father promised to take care of her, making her your Luna would be the best course of action.” “He should marry her then,” I spat, furrowing my eyebrows. Brooke? Is he kidding me? That she-wolf was irritating and fake as fuck. Why would Dad want to make her my Luna? “He’s serious this time around… he might use something that you’ve always wanted. And you will end up giving in… and choosing Brooke as your mate.” I wrinkled my nose in disgust. “Oh hell no.” “Oh hell yeah… if you don’t want that ending, you've got to go to this event. At least you can say you’re searching.” I frowned deeply. He was right. I needed to placate my old man somehow. But I knew I wouldn’t find my fated mate. That’s because I had already found her, and she’s dead. The day I found her is the day I lost her. I’ve never told anyone… she was a rogue, and was already dying at that time. I didn’t see the need to tell anyone my Luna had died. There’s no way I would find a second chance mate. That kind of miracle never happens in our world. You only get one soulmate for life. “Fine… when is this event again?” I asked, and Flynn grinned from ear to ear. “Why are you so excited? You already have a mate,” I murmured. “I’m happy you’re finally willing to try,” he said. “It’s in a few days. I’ll get a few of the pack members ready.” I sighed when he walked out of my office, excited like a little kid. Well, it won’t hurt to get some air in another pack. Perhaps that fool, Silas, won’t annoy me this time. … That was what I thought, but the moment I laid my eyes on Silas Fenwick, the Alpha of the Whitecrest pack and my former best friend, a murderous growl reverberated in my chest. He approached me with a blonde female clinging to his arm like she was trying to mould herself into him. “You’re late,” he said. “Yeah… the rules don’t apply to me,” I replied cockily, looking around the area. The place was empty, and I could hear some thudding sounds in the distance, signalling that the forest ahead was occupied. “So, what do I have to do?” I asked. “Well, for this game, the one who captures the biggest animal wins, and they will get an anonymous prize,” Silas said. “More like the prize will be decided after the games are over.” I arched an eyebrow. “What happened to granting a wish?” He sneered, and the female beside him laughed. “Well, someone was becoming too delusional, so we changed the rules–” “I wasn’t talking to you,” I cut her off icily, and she flinched, her heart racing. “Come on, Alpha Rowan. Don’t scare my lady… she’s already scared of you thanks to your reputation.” “Ah… you mean the rumour that I fuck women to their deaths?” I scoffed, glancing at the blonde woman. For some reason, she annoyed the fuck out of me. “You have no reason to worry. You wouldn’t even get a chance.” I saw something flash through her eyes before she smiled at me. “Alpha Rowan, since this is your first time coming to such an event, I would like to recommend the areas that have the biggest animals. If you go towards the east side, you’re sure to find something big there.”**Raina's POV** "Your father has been given a room. He will leave for the Whitecrest Pack tomorrow morning," Rowan said when he came to our room at the Alpha's mansion. "He wanted to leave now, but Mom convinced him to stay. It's a bit late, after all." I gave a small smile. "It seems he managed to talk to Mom without us having to intervene," I murmured. "I was worried she would rip his hair out." "She probably thought it wasn't worth it," Rowan said. He took off his clothes before sliding into bed with me. I scooted closer to him before placing my head on his chest, right where his tattoo was located. The tattoo that stated he was mine. He belonged to me. "That or she's still blaming herself," I remarked, caressing Rowan's chest. "Anyway, what matters is that we are all alive." "That's right," Rowan murmured and kissed the top of my head. "I'm glad you now have both your parents. Are you happy?" "I've been happy from the first day I met you," I uttered, looking up
**Rita's POV**I know I had decided to hide in my room as Michael talked to Raina, but I couldn't help myself. Jumping out of the window, I walked around the mansion and masked my presence when I got closer to the patio. My heart clenched in pain the moment I saw Michael. He was older, but he hadn't changed much. He was still as handsome as the first day I met him. Severing our mate bond was the hardest thing I had to do in order to protect him and our daughter. I just didn't expect him to get hurt and vent that anger on Raina as if she were the reason I left him. Our daughter didn't deserve any of that. And no matter how many times she says I shouldn't blame myself, it's my fault that she had to endure such mistreatment in her own father's house. I would never stop feeling guilty. But I also know I would still make the same decision all over again. Pace had been tracking me. And it was only a matter of time before he found us. If I hadn't left, Raina and Michael would ha
**Raina's POV** My heart hammered in my chest. 'What should I do?' Rowan asked. 'I can ask the warriors to send him away since you're not ready to meet him.' "Raina, what’s wrong? Your face is pale," Mom asked, and everyone turned to look at me. I smiled awkwardly. "I'm fine, it's just that I've heard that my father is at the pack's border." Mom let out a murderous growl. "That coward. How dare he show himself here? I thought he told you he would wait?" Mom asked, glancing at Rowan. "Yes, that's what we agreed. I'm equally surprised he's shown up before Raina could reach out to him like he promised." "Ask them to send him away," Sebastian said. "We can't force Raina to see him when she's not ready." "No, it's fine. I'll see him," I uttered, and Rowan looked at me, his eyebrows creasing. "Are you sure, Sweet Pea?" He asked worriedly. "You don't have to force yourself if you're not ready." I coiled my hands into fists. "I'm not ready, but I would have had to face him one
**Raina’s POV**“I hope we are on the same page, Jade,” I said, looking at her. “You won’t be joining the battle this time. You have life growing inside you.” Jade sighed, looking out at the trees. We were on a balcony that overlooked a garden and the forest at the Alpha’s mansion. Lydia had invited us to dinner. It was a family dinner to officially welcome my mother into the family, but we invited close friends as well. Jade and Lucia were with me on the balcony, and Flynn, Rowan and the three gammas were somewhere outside, smoking and strategising about the war. That was all we did these days. We didn’t know when Alpha Pace would attack, so we weren’t going to let our guards down. Agatha had come through to see my mother, and while she was here, she raised some barriers at the border, although she wasn’t sure if they could hold against Marcella’s dark magic. Still, we were grateful for the help. Anything that could slow the attackers was welcome. “It’s hard for me to do that,
**Raina's POV**"Hello? Raina? Are you there?" Silas' annoying voice echoed through the phone speaker, and I coiled my hands into fists. His voice was gentle, but he couldn't fool me. I knew what kind of man he was.He was an abuser, a narcissist and a tormentor. The only reason he was speaking like he was talking to a god was because he wanted something.I glanced at Rowan. His jaw was clenched, clearly not happy that I agreed to talk to Silas. But he still held the phone for me and put it on loudspeaker.Leaning in, I placed a soft kiss on his lips, and he relaxed a little, giving me a small smile."Hello? Is anyone there?""Why do you want to speak to me? And how did you know I was back?" I questioned coldly. There was a brief silence on the other end of the phone. After a few seconds, Silas sighed."You really hate me, huh?""Isn't that obvious?" I sneered. "Get to the point.""My sources told me the Nightshade Pack is planning for war, so I assumed Rowan managed to rescue you. I w
**Raina's POV**A week had passed since my mother and I had escaped from the Nightshade Pack.I never thought a world where I woke up and saw my mother could ever exist. The Moon Goddess had blessed me with so many things, I didn't have the right to complain about the small, unfortunate things.Alpha Pace's obsession wasn't worth my trouble. Like Mom said, he should be treated like an annoying pest that we were going to exterminate. The past week, I focused on training with my mother. She taught me how I could use my powers to my full potential. And how I could use my healing magical powers to heal a lot of people at once, not just one person at a time. This could help a lot of our warriors get back on their feet quickly during battle. It took a while for me to master the skill, but in no time, I could channel a lot of my power at once and heal multiple people.Rowan was impressed, but he was still worried since I couldn’t heal myself. If the enemy decided to hurt me in order to finish
**Raina’s POV**“Raina…” Rowan cupped the side of my face, sitting up and pulling me into his arms. I coiled my arms around him, squeezing him to feel his warmth. I needed to make sure he was still alive, and his heartbeat wasn’t just my mind playing games with me. I needed to know that what happe
**Raina’s POV**“There’s my Queen,” Rowan’s voice reached my ears, and I got to my feet after placing my dagger in the thigh holster, which I had asked Jade to help me buy a few days ago. I was wearing a black gown with a thigh-high slit on my right leg for easier movements during the battle. I ch
**Flynn’s POV**##Two days earlier##The days till the fake mating ceremony were getting closer, but I had yet to tell Jade about the vision, or even mustered up the courage to ask her to stay away from the battlefield. I knew she already knew I was hiding something. We were fated mates after all…
**Rowan’s POV**“The fuck?” I growled, and Raina gave me a questioning gaze. I put the phone on speaker. “Say what you just told me again. Your Luna is listening,” I said on the phone. “Oh, hello, Luna. I was just telling the Alpha here that we got some vital information from someone from the Whi
