LOGINChapter 2 – Everything They Called Mine
The morning after Selene returned, the Moonstone Pack no longer felt like home.
The servants who used to greet me with warm smiles lowered their heads whenever I walked past. Some hurried away as if they were afraid of being seen talking to me.
Others whispered behind my back.
"She looks so calm."
"I heard she threatened Lady Selene years ago."
"I never thought Luna Aria could be so cruel."
Every word pierced my heart.
I wanted to defend myself.
I wanted to scream that they were wrong.
But I knew it wouldn't matter.
Not anymore.
When I entered the dining hall, Kael, Ronan, and Ezra were already seated.
An empty chair waited for me.
The chair that had always been mine.
I walked toward it.
Just as I reached it, Selene appeared.
She wore a simple white dress and looked pale, almost fragile.
"I'm sorry," she said softly. "I didn't know this was your seat."
Kael immediately stood.
"You can sit here, Selene."
My feet froze.
That was my seat.
The seat beside my mates.
Without a second thought, Kael had given it to her.
Selene looked at me with fake hesitation.
"But what about Aria?"
Ronan answered before I could.
"She can sit over there for now."
He pointed to a chair farther down the table.
Far from them.
Far from where the Luna belonged.
My chest tightened.
Not one of them looked embarrassed.
Not one of them realized how much that small moment hurt.
Silently, I walked to the empty chair and sat down.
The breakfast tasted like ash.
Later that afternoon, the Pack Elders summoned everyone to the council hall.
The room was filled with tension.
Elder Magnus stood in the center.
"We have reached a decision."
I folded my hands tightly.
"What decision?"
"The investigation into Selene's claims has begun."
"I welcome that," I replied. "Because I have nothing to hide."
The elder nodded.
"Until it is complete, everything connected to Luna Aria will be placed under temporary protection."
I frowned.
"What does that mean?"
"It means," another elder answered, "your family's estate will be frozen."
My heart skipped.
"My parents left that to me."
"It is only temporary."
"My personal accounts?"
"Frozen."
"The Luna chambers?"
"They now belong to both ladies."
"My title?"
"Suspended."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
One by one...
Everything my parents had spent their lives building...
Everything I had earned...
Was being taken away.
Not because I was guilty.
But because someone accused me.
Then Elder Magnus looked at Kael.
"There is another matter."
"The White Moon Wolf."
My blood ran cold.
"No."
Not my wolf.
Anything but that.
The White Moon Wolf was a blessing from the Moon Goddess.
Only one wolf like her appeared every several hundred years.
She wasn't just my wolf.
She was part of my soul.
The elder continued.
"Since Selene claims this blessing was originally meant for her, we will perform a ritual."
I shot to my feet.
"That's impossible!"
"It isn't."
"You cannot separate me from my wolf!"
Kael finally spoke.
"If the blessing truly belongs to you..."
"You have nothing to fear."
I stared at him in disbelief.
"You actually believe that?"
He hesitated.
"I..."
"You believe she deserves a chance."
That answer was enough.
That evening I returned to my room.
No.
Not my room anymore.
Half of my dresses were gone.
My jewelry had disappeared.
The portraits of my parents had been taken down.
Instead...
A fresh bouquet of moon roses sat on the table.
Selene's favorite flower.
I laughed bitterly.
Even my room no longer remembered me.
A soft voice echoed inside my mind.
"They're replacing us."
It was my wolf.
Luna.
She sounded weaker than ever.
"I know," I whispered.
"Why are they doing this?"
"I don't know."
"Our mates promised to protect us."
A tear rolled down my cheek.
"They broke that promise."
For several minutes, neither of us spoke.
The silence was painful.
Just before sunset, there was a knock on the door.
Ezra entered alone.
He looked exhausted.
His eyes were filled with guilt.
"Can we talk?"
I nodded.
He walked slowly toward me.
"I know today was difficult."
"Difficult?"
I laughed.
"They stripped away everything my parents left me."
"They're questioning my wolf."
"They're questioning our bond."
"And you're calling it difficult?"
Ezra lowered his head.
"I wanted to stop them."
"But you didn't."
"I couldn't."
"You could have."
Silence.
"I still believe in you."
I looked into his eyes.
"Do you?"
He didn't answer.
That silence shattered the last piece of hope inside me.
"If you believed me," I whispered, "you would have stood beside me."
Ezra reached for my hand.
I stepped back.
"Don't."
He slowly lowered his arm.
"I'm sorry."
Again.
That useless word.
Sorry.
It couldn't return my parents.
It couldn't erase the humiliation.
It couldn't make my mates trust me again.
After Ezra left, I stood by the window and looked at the full moon.
Its silver light covered the entire pack.
Once, I had looked at this moon with happiness.
Tonight...
It felt cold.
Very cold.
I closed my eyes.
"If this is what love becomes..."
"Then maybe it's time to stop holding on."
For the first time since becoming Luna, a single thought settled firmly in my heart.
Maybe... I should leave.
She had taken my place.
They had given it to her willingly.
And deep inside, I knew this was only the beginning of the suffering they had planned for me.
Arielle stepped through the black doorway.Cassian's hand was still locked around hers.Behind them came Lyra, Elara, Kael, Adrian, and Noah. The Shadow King followed last. The moment they crossed the threshold, the doorway disappeared. There was no explosion. No darkness. No sound.Just silence.Arielle looked around. They were standing in a place that had no sky and no ground. There was only an endless silver horizon stretching in every direction. No stars. No sun.No moon.Nothing that belonged to any world they had ever known.Cassian slowly turned. The doorway is gone.Kael looked behind him.So is the path we came through.Adrian closed his eyes.I can't see anything.Arielle looked at him.Nothing?Nothing.For the first time since Adrian had discovered his power, his face looked peaceful. There are no probabilities here, he whispered.Arielle frowned. Why?Because nothing has happened yet.The words echoed through the strange space. The Beginning and The End had followed them.
The darkness swallowed the light. For several seconds, nobody moved.Nobody breathed. The ruined hall was completely silent. Then the darkness vanished. Not disappeared.Vanished.As if it had never existed.Arielle remained standing in the center of the chamber, staring at the empty space where the gateway had been. Her heart was pounding. The Beginning and The End were still there. Her mother stood between them. And somehow, the presence of those three beings was more frightening than the collapsing worlds.Arielle slowly turned toward them. What did you do?Her mother lowered her eyes.I did what I had to do.Arielle's voice hardened. You brought them here.No.Her mother looked toward The Beginning. They came because they were summoned.By whom? The Beginning smiled.By you.Arielle shook her head.I never summoned anyone. You did the moment you destroyed the Creator. The End stepped forward. When you destroyed the throne, you did more than make yourselves mortal. You broke the fi
The laughter continued. It was not loud. That was what made it terrifying. It seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once, slipping through the cracks between worlds, vibrating beneath the floor beneath their feet, whispering through the air as though reality itself had developed a voice.Arielle stood frozen before the gateway. The light that had erupted from it was beginning to fade. But what remained inside the opening was not darkness. It was something worse.A moving absence.A place where even light seemed to forget how to exist.Cassian immediately moved in front of Arielle.Stay back.Arielle grabbed his arm.Cassian, no.He looked at her.His eyes were no longer filled only with fear. There was recognition there. He had seen that look before. It was the same expression Arielle wore whenever she had already decided to sacrifice herself.Do not even think about it, he said.I am not thinking about anything. That was a lie.Cassian knew it.So did the children.Lyra stepp
The creature stepped through the shattered gateway wearing Cassian’s face. For one terrible second, my mind refused to understand what I was seeing. The same dark hair. The same sharp jaw.The same tall, powerful frame.Even the scar above his eyebrow was identical to the one my husband had carried for years. But the eyes were wrong.Cassian’s eyes had always held a warmth that remained even when he was furious. These eyes were completely black, as though an endless night had replaced everything human inside them. The creature smiled at me.It was Cassian’s smile. That made it worse. My real husband moved in front of me.Don’t look at it, he warned. The creature laughed. She has every reason to look at me. I am the version of you she should fear.Cassian raised his powerless sword. You’re not me.No, the creature replied calmly. I am what remained of the First King’s corruption after the throne was destroyed. When the throne shattered, it needed somewhere to survive. Your likeness was
For the first time in thousands of years, I woke up afraid. Not because an enemy was coming. Not because the universe was collapsing. Not because a prophecy had been spoken.I was afraid because my heart was beating differently.Slowly.Normally.Humanly.I opened my eyes.Sunlight spilled through the curtains of our bedroom. For several seconds, I simply stared at it.There was no golden energy dancing across my fingertips. No ancient power humming beneath my skin.No voice from the universe whispering my name.Nothing.I lifted my hand.I tried to summon my power.Nothing happened.I tried again.Still nothing.A strange laugh escaped me.I was powerless.Truly powerless. And somehow...I felt free. Then I heard a voice behind me.Are you all right?I turned.Cassian was sitting on the edge of the bed.He looked different. Not dramatically. But enough. The silver light that had always surrounded his eyes was gone. His immortality was gone. His supernatural strength was gone.He look
The star remained in the sky.I couldn't look away.Five circles.Four of them belonged to my children. The fifth was something I had never seen before.Cassian stood beside me, his eyes fixed on the symbol. What does it mean?I shook my head.I don't know.Behind us, my mother approached slowly. She had gone pale.Mother? She didn't answer. She simply stared at the sky. Then she whispered:It has begun. What has begun? She looked at me.The next age.My heart tightened.I thought our story was over.My mother gave a small smile.Stories like ours don't end. They transform. Before I could ask another question, the fifth star flashed.A wave of light spread across the sky.Our children came running.Mama! What's happening?I looked at them.I don't know.My first son stared at the star.I can see something. What?A world. My fourth child closed his eyes.I can see it too.Lyra looked at them. What kind of world? My sons exchanged a glance.A world that doesn't exist yet.The ground sud
