CHAPTER 6: LET GO OF THE MOON

last update Tanggal publikasi: 2026-04-27 23:56:01

MENODORA'S POV

“No… that's impossible,” one of the council members says, but right before their very eyes, it is already happening.

The first sight that catches my attention is the sight of my fingers, because extending from where my nails should be are now lethal-looking claws, long and sleek.

“Beautiful…so beautiful” I think, turning my paws to admire them. My fur is stark white, almost silver under the glint of the moon. My senses are now almost four times the regular intensity for an average wolf, the sound of every heartbeat comes to me with clarity, so does the smell of the flicker of fear…it's almost too much for me, all at once.

“Stop her! You can't let her shift!” The Alpha roars, rage pouring from him in waves, his voice a deafening inhuman cry shattering the silence of the night. It is too late to stop though, the change in me is happening even faster than I can control.

My head jolts backwards, reeled in by an invisible violent force of the moon, my eyes…silver and red… burn with the intensity of something unnatural, not belonging to the Moon.

“I…,” my voice echoes with strange layering, like two different voices are speaking through me. “I…,” I try again, but it's still the same so I give up, continuing what I mean to say. “I did not do any of this.” But no one is listening enough to give me an answer, their gaze shifting to the ground beneath the execution circle.

The symbols under my feet, believed to be sacred and unbreakable, are now cracking open like fragile glass. A faint spark of molten lightening starts at the edge of what should be my fingertips, traveling inward and turning into an uncontrolled wildfire in my blood.

Above us, the moon trembles again, a shimmering reflection on the black velvet canvas of the night. A ripple moves through the sky causing a distortion in the crimson light, touched by an unseen hand.

“END IT NOW!” The council leader shrieks, losing his composure completely. The executioner takes a swing at me, his silver blade rising to make true his aim, but somehow I am already anticipating his moves.

Without thinking too much, I pivot from the left side where he aims for, moving to the right instead. This throws the executioner off, his body slamming into a tree at the edge of the clearing with a sickening crack.

I'm too stunned for words, my eyes traveling to my hands in awe.

“How…?” I whisper under my breathe. “How did that happen?”

Just then, hot needle like pain pierces through the back of my right eye, shattering into a thousand shards of blinding white agony, turning the crowd into a chaotic blur of faces, before I am pulled into another vision.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The scene is almost similar to the previous vision, the screams of women ringing clear in my ears, the fury overwhelming my senses.
One voice in particular stands out to me, sharp and desperate.
“They plan to erase us…”
Another voice rises to answer, as strong as the first one.
“Then we will burn before we bow!”
Power explodes and I am pulled out of the vision immediately.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My breath hitches and catches in my throat like a snagged thread, the vision snapping and and the world around me spinning, my knees finding the ground again.

“No…” I try to call out, but the air in my throat feels shafty like sand, reducing my voice to a frantic and dry hiss.

“No…make it stop…please…” I beg, but the memories keep clawing at the inside of my head. I know they're not my memories but they live inside of me.

"Contain her!” The council leader growls, the panic in his voice is very evident now. “She must not be allowed to get out of the circle."

“Contain her?" The words sound like shafts against my ears, and my whole system stills.

“No," just one word, but it carries so much power and depth that even I don't understand just yet. Slowly, the air stops moving, turning thick and heavy-laden like the breath of an ancient tomb. The wind howling through the trees dies down and the little droplets of snow stop with a suffocating stillness that whispers of eerie things to come.

“I will not be put to death…executed wrongfully…for something I have no hand in.”

The Alpha steps into the circle, his aura flaring with dominance that should have crushed me under the weight of it, but in my present form, it is barely a whisper against my fur.

“That is not your choice to make"

For the first time in my life, I smile. A cold creeping smile stretches slowly across my face like a droplets of ink spreading in fine fabric.

“I may not have had a choice before, but I do now."

With those words, I turn in the direction of the woods and take to my heels. I run like my life depends on it…I mean, frankly speaking, my life does depends on how fast I get away from them.

The forest completely swallows me, bfancdhes tearing at my skin as I sprint blindly through the canopy of trees, my body finds it difficult to keep up with the electric surge of energy coursing through my bloodstream.

Behind me, howls tear through the quiet of the night, the pack closing in on me.

“She's just within reach, chase harder!" I hear someone say

“Don't let her get past the border," another is yelling.

My breath comes out in ragged staccato bursts, each inhale ignites a slow-spreading wildfire between my ribs, burning in my lungs even as I push further and further for the edge of the border.

“Just a little more, please," I plead with my legs even as they threaten to give out from beneath me. I keep running until I feel it, a barely visible line that indicates the border is closer than ever. If I cross that line, I become a rogue, never to be accepted by any pack again…but isn't that the life I have always lived?

“Stop her!" The Alpha's voice thunders behind me, my steps are slowing and they're finally gaining grounds on me.

“One more step," I think, but my foot catches in the loose root trendils of a fallen tree and I fall flat on my face.

I feel like the Alpha knows something and the council why not try to investigate or find the real culprit. they are so bent on painting her as a curse, a murderer. mendora this is not the time to fall down

The fact that even after she got to shift , they were still bent on executing her only suggested that they just want to eradicate her on no grounds. Very cowardly I say, foolish , even.

  • The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow   CHAPTER 80: THE EASTERN PASSAGE

    MENODORA'S POV“The enemy has remembered you." The words remain suspended in the air, hanging by a single thread even after the Keeper stops talking. Nobody seems to remember how to breathe, the air hanging thick refusing to move past our lips."Everyone out. Now!” Cassian breaks the silence his voice cuts through the chamber with enough force to make me move before I have time to think.“Lupa?” Orvax catches my hand. I squeeze his fingers to tell him I'm fine before crouching to Elira's level."Elira?” I call, placing my hand on her shoulder softly. She doesn't answer, eyes still fixed on the broken piece of silver lying on the floor, totally unaffected by everything happening around her.“Elira?" I try again but still no response."Elira, you need to leave it!” The Keeper gently orders. This seems to get through her because she breaks out of her reverie to look at her."But…but it belongs…to my mother…” she says, her voice breaking several times leaving the final words fractured, s

    MENODORA'S POV Orvax's voice is low, almost inaudible.“Whatever this means, we can continue this discussion when we get somewhere safe.”"But there's no place safer than here right now.”The Keeper is shaking her head like she's in a trance."The eastern passage has only been breached once…” Cassian says in agreement with the Keeper, jaws clenching so hard, I can hear his teeth grinding together.“That's only that you know of. What if it's been breached more than once?" The Keeper muses.Cassian looks up, eyes narrowing into unsure slits."What do you mean by that?” His voice sounds strained, like he's fighting hard against losing control with reality.“I don't know Cassian. Looking at the nature of this breach, whoever this may be knows how to open the eastern ward…the most intricate ward in this Kingdom. What if they know more about this Kingdom than we think they do?”The Keeper finally turns to look at us, a quiet unspoken focus that drains out all the background noise, leaving

    MENODORA’S POVSeveral seconds pass and no one moves or speaks, too stunned into silence by the implications of the Keeper's words. From the corner of my eye, I catch a glimpse of Elira, her chest barely moving in that up and down motion to show if she is breathing or not. I am hardly breathing myself and I am sure that the rest of us are hardly breathing as well. The only sound that can be heard between us is the distant wail of the warning horns bouncing off the stones of the walls lining the garden.A glint of silver catches the light and the reflection of it feels blinding. Turning to see what it is, I glimpse the sight of the pendant still dangling in the hold of Elira's trembling fingers. My eyes are particularly drawn to the crescent eye…the symbol of the Keepers of Memory, the same symbol we had found on the stone tablet and very same pendant that just might have managed to open the passage that should have been impossible to breach.“Elira,” I barely feel the words form on my

    MENODORA'S POVThe chest clicks open and I brace myself for the unexpected, but it never comes…no dramatic explosion, no sudden flash of hot white light…just a quiet click. Inside the chest is a stack of letters, yellowed and dusty from the length of time, beside them is a small pocket sized journal and a piece of dark blue fabric embroidered with silver thread.Elira reaches for the journal with trembling fingers.Flipping open the first page, there is only one sentence.“To future Elira, if you ever find the way back to your destiny…” Elira starts to read aloud. A sharp microscopic hiccup of air escapes her lips, the tiny movement pulls her shoulder tight and her fingers grow tense around the journal. The sight of it feels like a leaden weight settling squarely on my breast bone making each inhale feel like lifting a stone.She turns the page and the handwriting catches my attention. I move closer to trace a finger over it…it is unmistakably feminine and delicate.“Lysandra," the Ke

  • The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow   CHAPTER 76: ELIRA II

    MENODORA'S POV Somewhere beyond the newly opened doorway, an ancient spirit stirred. Something has been patiently waiting for this day and we are about to find out exactly what it is. It may have been nothing more than ten seconds that we stand there peering cautiously down the doorway, but in the silence and the darkness, it feels like several long minutes. The doorway stands open before us, an open invitation to the darkness that waits on the other side. This is no ordinary darkness…something about it feels ancient, like whatever lies beyond it has been holding its breath for centuries and is now being allowed to take a long needed exhale.With shaky fingers still wrapped around the silver pendant, Elira stares into the darkness.“Are you sure about this Elira?" I ask her softly, stepping in closer when she doesn't answer."Did my mother know about this place?” She is picking her words with great difficulty now, eyes not straying from the doorway for a single second. Like a fear th

    MENODORA'S POV Orvax is already sprinting towards the door before the words are out of my lips.“Don't move, just stay here…” I hear him saying but I pay no attention to him, already struggling to get on my feet.“I'm coming with you." “Menodora…" he starts, his hands pausing over the doorknob. “No…don't give me that voice.” I know he only calls me by my name when he considers the situation too serious.“You don't get to tell me to stay behind anymore…not after everything we have been through together.”I see the slight tick in his jaw and the sharp flicker in his eyes. For a moment I think he might consider arguing with me but instead, he lets out a slow puff of air…almost like he is releasing whatever pent up tension he did not realize he had.“The outer wards, someone tried to test them last night and we don't know who did.”I can feel a cold lead weight materialize behind my navel dragging my viscera downwards towards my shoes even as air vanishes from my lungs at the same mome
