Chapter 14

Isabeau's POV

Something about the way Loic says my name sends an uncomfortable shiver through my body.

I quickly turn away from him to hide the heat in my cheeks and try to force my thoughts in another direction.

I instantly notice that the sun has begun its descent, casting long shadows across the landscape. I find myself looking up, a sense of urgency gripping me. The day has slipped away more quickly than I anticipated, and darkness is rapidly approaching.

Turning to Loic, I express my concern. "Loic, we should find a suitable spot to set up camp for the night," I suggest, my voice filled with a hint of weariness. "It's getting dark, and we need to rest. We can continue our journey tomorrow."

Loic nods in agreement, his eyes reflecting a childlike trust in my judgment. "Okay, Isa." He replies, his voice filled with a gentle acquiescence.

Together, we search for a suitable space and luckily enough, we are able to find a clearing near a clear stream. I inspect it for pests and predat
