Violetta’s POV

“How may I help you?” The healer asked as I walked into her open door.

“I just need to ask you some things, and I hope you can please tell me the truth.”

She paused as if contemplating what this was about. “Whatever it is, am I the only one you can ask about it?” she asked uninterestedly.

“Well, yeah. I mean, you’re the only one who I know as my mother’s friend in the whole palace, so who do you think I’m going to ask?”

She stared at me, full dread now visible on her face. “I don’t think I’m the right person for you to ask.”

I wasn’t surprised by her words, but I was ready for her. I walked closer, putting on my most pitiful face.

“If my mother, your friend, hears what you just said, do you really think she would be happy about it?”

She went silent, just staring at me with guilt written all over her face. I knew my plan was already working.

“Fine. What is it you want to know?”

“Thank you. Well, like I already established, it’s about my parents.”
