Carina's POV I woke up with the weight of the revelation still pressing on my chest. Mates? The very idea seemed surreal. I glanced at the empty side of the bed next to me, realizing Nathan had left. That encounter with him, the strange connection we supposedly shared, lingered in my mind. Nathan didn't mark me and honestly, I didn't expect him to.
