CHAPTER 7

Carina's POV

I woke up with the weight of the revelation still pressing on my chest.

Mates? The very idea seemed surreal. I glanced at the empty side of the bed next to me, realizing Nathan had left. That encounter with him, the strange connection we supposedly shared, lingered in my mind.

Nathan didn't mark me and honestly, I didn't expect him to. I was just a lost and found girl under his roof and being mated was probably a mistake of the Moon Goddess. He was close. Very close marking me. I was very close to being the Luna of WormWood Pack.

But I guess I had my hopes too high. This was Nathan and not just another Alpha. He could have any she wolf for himself and, well, what could I do? Now, I was left hanging in the thought of being rejected or accepted as a mate.

The room, though comfortable, felt like a cage. I needed air, a way to clear my head. Nathan's words from the previous day echoed, reminding me of my father, the legend-turned-liar in the eyes of the BlueWood Pack.
