The Lycan Brother’s Shared Mate
The Lycan Brother’s Shared Mate
Author: Taylor West

One.

Blue

“Another whiskey on the rocks and a virgin white russian for your best customers.” She gives me a wide grin.

I groan as Bree tells me the drink order. I knew exactly who it was for. But calling them my best customers just made me feel ten times worse. I had to tell her the truth.

Booth thirteen, that’s where they chose to sit. Every night for the last five nights they sat in that same booth. Staring at me with their brilliant blue eyes, trying to intimidate me without speaking a single word.

I knew I was their mate. They knew I was too and yet, they just watched. There was no hiding from the Lycan twins of Black Moon. Not anymore. I was screwed.

“Bollocks!” I mutter as I drop the ice in the tray

“Hey it’s fine. What’s got you all riled up?” Bree asks. Her eyebrows raised in concern. I hadn't told her yet. I just couldn't find the right words to explain.

“It’s nothing, I just need to keep busy.” I mutter, and give her a fake smile as I make their drinks. Bree cocks an eyebrow but doesn’t say anything and quickly hurries off in their direction.

I hear them ask her why I don’t bring the drinks. Thankfully she tells them that my role is behind the bar. That the dancers give them something nice to drink and something good to look at.

Looking at my watch, I see that I only have an hour of my shift left. I was so ready to be out of their way.

Every now and then, the Lycan twins would throw a glance at the dancers. Sneering at them in disgust. Only for their gaze to return to me. Even if I couldn’t see them, I could feel them looking at me. Sending a cold shiver running down my spine.

You didn’t have to be different to know that they were powerful. They wafted their entitlement around like they were the best thing since sliced bread. Acting like they owned the place.

Even the unknowing humans stayed out of their way. Somehow recognising that the twins were trouble. And until this week, the twins had never been here. No Lycan had.

The bar was a hot spot for all kinds. It was where vampires found their blood. A place where the alcohol was strong enough for werewolves to become intoxicated. And a place for humans to get their desires fulfilled. But Lycan’s, they never came here, not until this week. And they were here for one thing only. They were here for me.

So far, I had managed to keep out of their way. I wasn’t a dancer so I was stuck behind the bar. Something that right this second, I was grateful for. But it was only a matter of time before they made their move. That’s what the male Lycans always did or so I had heard.

“Do you think you can cover me?” I mutter as my best friend Bree comes to collect the drinks for her client. There was only an hour left, but if I could get away now, I would stand a chance.

“Vita is already on my case. And we finish in an hour. Ignore them.” She nods at the twins sitting in booth thirteen.

“It’s not that simple.”

“How can it not be? They are hot, yes. Would I mind getting caught between them? Most definitely not” She lets out a dirty laugh. “Besides they have eyes for no one else, you should be happy!” She studies me a bit more. “ Is this that mate thing you told me about?”

I nod my head as I look over her shoulder. She wasn’t a wolf like me and she wasn’t a Lycan like the twins. She was human but she knew about our kind. Bree shouldn’t have ever become my best friend, but we hit it off immediately and I have never regretted it.

“Wolves?” She mutters quietly, aware of the many people around us.

“Much worse.”

“Shit Blue! What are you going to do?”

I shrug and look over her shoulder, “They can probably hear exactly what we are saying anyway.”

She clamps her mouth shut. She always forgets about our super hearing.

I catch them watching me. One in a dark suit, with his short blonde hair perfectly in place, stubble on his strong jawline. The other in jeans and a shirt. His blonde hair sticking out everywhere, making it look like he had been electrocuted. The thought of electrocuting a Lycan makes me smile and he smiles back at me.

Fuck, fuck, fuck!

She spins on the spot to look at them. “Leave it with me.”

Bree sways her hips in their direction before I have a chance to stop her. She leans her slender body over their table. Ensuring they got an eyeful of her recent boob job. But they didn’t break eye contact with me. Not once.

They kept their brilliant blue eyes trained on me as if I were their prey while waving Bree away. What the hell were they waiting for? Why hadn’t they made their move?

For the next few minutes, I’m kept busy making drinks. When I look up, the Lycan twins are gone and I breathe a sigh of relief. Lycan’s were bad enough, but the soon to be Alpha twins of Black Moon were something else. Their reputation was the worst in the world, death followed them wherever they went. Yet here they were in the club that I worked in. Ready and waiting to claim me as theirs. Why had they left without doing anything?

“Can I get some service?”

I look up to see one of them. His bright blue eyes shining at me. Flecks of gold scattered among the blue. A hint of a smile on his perfectly shaped lips. He was tall, his suit fitted him perfectly and for just a second, I wondered what was underneath. Instantly, my heart fluttered. I hated my body for giving me away.

He snaps his fingers in front of me, breaking my concentration and frowns. “Hello, anybody home?” A smug smile sat on his face.

“Sorry. What can I get you?” I move towards him as he leans himself across the bar. His scent of morning dew made those butterflies in my stomach swarm. Shit! Shit! Shit!

He asks me for a water, but I couldn’t take my eyes off his. Why was he acting so casual? I was waiting for the moment that he would try to grab me and drag me over the bar. Maybe this was too public for them, that’s why they hadn’t made a move.

Finding my mate was a day that I had feared since I had first shifted. But I didn’t just have one mate, I had two. Why did I have to be mated to twins?

I grabbed him a bottle of water and when I turned back, the other one had joined him along with his minty scent. The top button of his shirt was unfastened and I could just see a hint of a tattoo on his chest. His eyes were just as bright too, but there were no gold flecks in his and unlike his brother, he was clean shaven.

The man in the suit was the one who always asked for a virgin white russian. I never understood why, it was basically an iced coffee. Taking the water, he smiles at me and slams a wad of fifties down.

“The water is complimentary.” I stutter, trying to figure out why someone would pay so much for a drink and why he was playing this weird game with me. Were they trying to psyche me out? Was this their plan? Were they going to offer me money in the hope that I would come willingly?

“It’s not for the drink. It’s for you.” His husky voice was like music to my ears. And those butterflies were about to burst from my stomach.

“You're trying to pay me off?” Relief washes over me. They were going to reject me, this was perfect.

“So you do know why we are here!” The other one with the messy hair chimes in. “I have to give her credit. The others have never been able to fight the bond.”

“We're not trying to pay you off.” The first one rolls his eyes at his brother. “Think of it like this; we can provide you with whatever you need.” He scratches over the stubble on his jaw line. His eyes searching mine. “You have strange coloured eyes.”

“Birth defect.” I was used to the comments about my odd coloured eyes. The comments happened so often that my response had become automatic. As he continued to stare at me, I realised that he wasn’t actually asking me why I had different coloured eyes. One was blue, the other green, but I had been the only one in my family like it.

“Interesting.” He mutters. His eyes linger on mine so long that I feel as if he is looking into my soul.

Behind them, I see Bree starting to make her way towards me. Shaking my head at her, she stops and mouths ‘are you okay?’

I nod my head and the twin with messy blonde hair turns to see who I’m looking at. “The human?! She seems quite protective over you. Funny, for a human.” He muses as he turns back to me.

“She’s my best friend!” I snap defensively

He scowls at me and leans in towards his brother, “Brother, I do not like this. She is friends with one of them.”

“Xander, she has been chosen for us.” The one in the suit is still smiling at me.

“It’s fine,” I slide the money back across the bar. “I know you are not impressed that I am a wolf. You can just reject me!” Rejection was down to them. As a female, I had no say in the matter. “Honestly, I would rather not be mated to two people.”

“She’s cocky, telling us what she wants.” Xander glares at me, a growl rumbling from deep inside him.

The one with gold flecks in his eyes smiles at me. “I quite like the fact she is so honest.”  He shoots me a wink and stands. “What do they call you?”

“Blue.”

His eyes go to my natural dark blue hair and he raises an eyebrow. “Tell me your real name.”

“Blue.” I repeat. There was no way I was telling him my real name. I didn’t care that they were soon to be Alpha’s. Until they were, they couldn’t give me an order and no one needed to know what I was really called.

“Well Blue, my name is Jaxon and this is my brother Xander. We will be back tomorrow night. I would like you to consider my proposal and have an answer for us.”

“What proposal?”

He points down at the wad of money. He shoots me another wink before grabbing his brother and walking out.

Bree comes running over the moment they are out the door. “What did they say?”

“I think they are trying to buy me.” I pick up the wad of money, confused.

“Is that a thing? Can they do that?”

“I guess so.” I shove the money in my tip belt. The twins hadn’t made a move like I was expecting. They hadn’t dragged me away. They hadn’t claimed me as their mate. They had just asked questions.

The following day, I called my boss Vita and told her I wasn’t feeling great. That I wouldn’t be in and I would make it up to her.

“Blue, my darling. You and I both know that we wolves do not get sick. Was it the Black Moon twins? I saw how they wouldn’t leave you alone. Lycan's, who would have thought I would have Lyan's in the bar.”

“They are my mates, Vita.”

She splutters and coughs on the end of the line. “They are what?”

“Vita, please don’t make me repeat it.”

“Stay home. I will sort something out. As long as this is what you want?”

“I don’t know what I want. I guess I didn’t think that this day would ever happen.” I whine

“Oh honey, it was bound to happen sooner or later. It always does.”

“They won’t want me as soon as they see the scars and know that I come with baggage.”
