Se connecterAuthor's POV Dominic had been pacing the war room aimlessly. He hated not doing anything but all his commanders had ensured that he was inside. He had too many thoughts running around in his head and that was the last thing he needed. He was watching the battle and it wasn't happening like it should have. They weren't losing the way they should have. It was as if they knew the attacks before it came. They saw his soldiers trickling out of the hidden spots before even a sound was made. His mind was troubled when his phone buzzed in his pocket. Immediately, he opened it in fear that it was news from Sage. What if something went wrong there as well. Sweat trickled down his forehead but the message wasn't from them. It was from an unknown number that he had seen before. He opened it with zero hesitation. A huge part of him wanted to know what was happening even if he wouldn't like it. Remember the betrayal I told you about? Well this is a result of it. I will breach all your bases, o
Author's POV That announcement meant things had just gotten worse. It left three other bases to be breached. Once that happened, the palace would be overrun and so would the kingdom. When Dominic closed his eyes, he could imagine the failure. He rushed to the war room where most of the generals, commanders and majors were waiting. They had already begun to map out a plan. On the table there was the standard plan of attack and defense spread. They all turned towards him when he entered but didn't stop their plot. Dominic stopped in front of them. He looked down at the plans. Red markers sat all over it, the strategic points. It was the strongest hold. If any enemy breached that then it meant they were destined to lose anyway. “I want to do something different" he looked at the cameras and the packed army that the opponent had. “We've always reserved our best five hundred for the fourth and final base but I need them to advance as soon as the third is breached" The whole table fel
Author’s POVSage felt the phone in her pocket vibrate. She dug into it and took it out, heart racing as she did so. A part of her wanted to ignore the message, it wasn’t worth it but she had already come this far. She wouldn’t back out now, this was for her people. She opened the message and read it to herself. Almost successfulThat was the cue, there was nothing else to be said. Slowly, she sat up on the bed and closed her eyes, catching her breath for a minute. There was one more thing to do to ensure the success was complete. Despite it’s consequences, there was no turning back now. She stood up from the bed.She looked at Tristan, the one on guard to watch her. She had heard Dominic give the instructions. He w as engrossed in conversation with queen Gabrielle. They were the two people tasked to keep an eye on her, everyone else was tense and in their minds. She went to the door and slowly opened it, her palms were sweaty with nerves. It wasn’t until the door closed behind her t
Author’s POVDominic froze in his spot. He felt his body tighten with alarm. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He immediately contacted Keisha through the link, he wanted to know what was happening, “Why are the lights off? Is it something to do with the electricity? He asked. He waited a moment but there was no response. Already the temple had begun to fill with whispers, questions being asked. Nobody understood why the lights were off. Dominic began to walk towards the entrance when suddenly there was a small display that lightened the hall a little. It was behind them at the alter and all eyes were immediately there. Dominic turned around to see what was happening. “This is the official announcement for the long awaited” a deep phony voice broke out in the temple, echoing as it sent shivers down everyone’s spines. “All those who choose correctly will be spared and all those who refuse to cooperate will bear the consequences” a brief pause. “This is the take over of the century, mig
Author’s POVTwo months later The day of the weddingSage stared at her reflection in the mirror. She couldn’t believe it.it didn’t matter how long she stared at the white royal dress, the way it draped over her. Her curves were obvious in the dress, including the baby bump that had gotten larger. She was indeed standing in her wedding gown, on the day of her wedding. She closed her eyes, letting the cool air of the fan calm her thoughts. Her hands were on the frilly satin material, she folded and unfolded it several times. Her eyes darted from Bella to the other maids who were getting her ready. She couldn’t sit still, even when she tried to.It wasn’t just the wedding, it was more. When she looked at the time on the clock, she knew what it was ticking for. As soon as she said the words, the vows were completed - everything would change. It was her mother closing the door behind her that took Sage out of her thoughts. She sat up and looked at her. Her mother wore a dark green suit
Author’s POVThe silence in the room was heavy with tension. The elders rubbed their hands restlessly as they stared at their files. Only a few remained that hadn’t checked it. Their hearts pounded so loud that everyone in the room could hear it and it wouldn’t be surprising if the people outside could as well. Dominic didn’t need to say another word, he simply waited. He knew they would do as asked, they wouldn’t wait for him to make another announcement. He would patiently wait for them to say what needed to be said. He relaxed against the head rest of the seat and dropped his hands on the table – a statement they all understood perfectly. Elder Eldric was the first council member to stand up. He had his hands tucked behind him and unable to meet anyone’s eyes. Dominic didn’t care for the shame that he felt. It was enough that he wasn’t doing it in front of the whole kingdom, he would have been shamed forever. He stepped back from the table and out of the chair. The next elder tha
Author's POV Dominic froze, unable to say a word, not yet. He didn't know what to say and it saddened him that she thought she had to pay him. He moved back, disengaging from the hug. He hardened his eyes, hoping she didn't see the crack she had caused. “You do not have to do anything except list
Dominic’s POV “One more thing!” I said, stopping Keisha in his tracks. He turned back to me. “No one must find out about this. For now.” I added. He acknowledged with a nod, “Yes your majesty!” I buried my head back in the stack of files on my desk. One of the files at the other end of the tab
Sage's POVI hadn't left the room the whole day after. It was due to his instructions, because something told me that if I didn't do as he asked, he would be angry. The last thing I wanted to do was cause his anger after all I had done these past few days. My eyes went to the window, where I had s
