Chapter 5

A bang on the door made Amelia jitter. She was deep in thought of how her life was going to be from them on. She had found her mate for goodness sake. She deserved to be happy.

"Amelia" whoever it was banged the door again, "Open this door, I need to see you"

Amelia shook her head. Was it wise to oep the door to her room at such a late hour.

Who was it anyway?

Amelia stood up to check. She walked to the door and then closed one eye to peer though the doorhole through the other.

"Maxwell" she sighed.

She pressed on the door knobe and opened the door immediately. Her mate was here.

"Amelia. How are you doing?" He slurred his words. He looked half awake and yet deeply asleep. Was he drunk?

"Amelia, I've missed you so much"

"I've missed you too" she smiled. It was surprising to see how fast Maxwell had changed ever since the judgment from the alpha. He was acting like a different man––– a different werewolf actually.

"Come sit" she dragged him gently toward the bed.

Amelia had made sure to clean her room, spray fresheners of sweetened flavor and possibly in hidden places. She wanted her room to smell nicely for him.

She made an effort to bath and appt makeup to her face too. All the other girls she had met always wore on makeup for their mate's, she deserved to do so too.

"Where did you do?"

She pulled him to the side with more pillows. It was a soft queen size bed covered in lavender colored bedsheets. It wasn't her favorite color but she had to make do with what she saw.

"What did you eat?" She cleared her throat, "did you have a drink?"

Maxwell lauged. He nodded his head with his half sleepy eyes.

"Of course I drank. I visited the bar I knew you from. Is that so bad?"

If that comment was meant to upset her, Amelia vowed that it wouldnt. She was more than prepared to get more hateful comments from anyone. She had a mate now.

"It's alright.. I'm just so glad you enjoyed yourself. It's good to see that you had fun"

She pulled away from him but Maxwell caught her by the arm.

He staggered to her hand and then pulled her to him, "Where do you think you're going, my mate?"

Oh nice. Now, he had recognized she was his mate. That was going to make things easier.

"Yes, my love. I'm here. I want to hear water for you. You seem like you've had a lot to drink and at this point, I believe you need sleep."

Maxwell smacked his lips. He smiled again and then leaned closer to her face, "Alright, I'll be waiting, my beautiful mate"

Amelia didn't wait a second after. She couldn't wait to go as she pulled away as fast as she could. One push and she was already at the door frame of the restroom.

She turned on the heater and prepared a towel for him.

"Take it easy girl, he's your mate afterall" she rubbed on her chest gently. It didn't help that his mouth oozed of booze either. For how long could she take it?

"Alright, it's ready" she turned to find Maxwell already staring at her. His eyes were already closing but she called his attention.

"Amelia, did anyone ever tell you that you are beautiful?"

She blushed. He wasn't so bad when he was drunk if he kept saying things like that.

"No"

She strolled to him, sat beside him and gently caressed his knees.

"But thank you for that wonderful compliment. It feels great hearing it from you especially since you always caused me pain."

Maxwell pouted. He apologized .

"You know I wanted to sound cool in front of my friends. I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you"

She nodded. "Thank you"

One look at the door to the bathroom and she was reminded of what she had initially planned to say, "Maxwell, your water is hot by the way. You should take your bath. A warm, hot and long bath. While that is being done, I'll go make you some hangover soup"

Maxwell said nothing. He had a bright smile plastered on his face.

"Did you hear me?" Amelia asked. Maxwell nooded, "I did but I don't want you calling me Maxwell, call me 'mate' or ',love' or anything romantic"

Amelia cringed.

When Maxwell start acting all lovey dovey? He pulled her hair a few nights ago, why was he acting like they had been lovers from the start?

"I'd need little time to adjust please, no offense. I am just not comfortable with all of this"

Maxwell nodded. "I understand, I'm sure I had been to harsh on you anyway"

She sighed. Thankfully, he understood that what he done had a large effect on her.

"It's alright. I'll leave to have your bath. Let me bring the hang over soup"

Maxwell nooded. His eyes followed her while she stood up and walked to the door.

He nipped on his lower lip when she was already heading out.

"I'll miss you. Be back soon. I need to talk to you about something"

Amelia got out of his door quickly. His acting nice and super cute towards her made her feel awkward. Maybe it was because she had always seen in the light of a beast, she couldn't tell.

She shook her head profusely for some seconds before she eventually stopped.

"I should get used to it. Maxwell has a nice side to himself. I just couldn't see it."

She tried to convince herself on the way to the kitchen but it wasn't working.

"I'll just focus on the hang over soup then"

Working in a bar as a waitress had it's perks. She could make soups, she could mix concoctions for a hangover and she could make good Noodles as breakfast or maybe dinner.

All those, she learnt from her work at the bar. Who knew it would come in handy while she had a mate?

The soup was hot enough and poured into a bowel when she decided it was time to take it to Maxwell.

Maxwell also had a surprise for her too.
