"Hi," Faye started, ignoring Jordan's statement, "I'd introduce myself, but you already know who I am."

"And I'm Ryuu, by the way," Ryuu added, giving them a short wave.

"We're not a threat to you. Ruby led us here because we can help."

"Is that what *you* said to her?" Jordan glared.

"No! It was a big handsome man!"

"Ruby, be quiet," Kate hushed.

"I won't say this again—" he coughed violently, blood splattering from his mouth.

"Jordan!"

"Daddy!" Kate and Ruby chorused as they held onto him.

Faye tilted her head as she studied him, paying attention to the sound and movement and feel of Jordan's blood. His blood was mostly poison at this point. The only reason he stayed alive this long was because of his wolf.

A small smile tugged on Faye's lips, "It's fine. I can work from this distance."

Her golden eyes glowed—so brightly, they turned almost pale white. Suddenly, Jordan's and Kate's skin regained its colour, and their bony figures began to fill out with flesh.

  • The Lycan's Weapon   33. Trial Of Trust

"I think..." Ryuu started as he and Faye stood in the middle of a tight-knit neighbourhood, "I'd prefer training with Emris to this any day."The 'trial of trust' was a method used to determine the innocence and fate of the guilty through the public's opinion. Faye and Ryuu were released into a controlled area of the pack lands—unguarded for seven days. Pack members were allowed to interact with them, but not harm them. The goal of the trial? They must gain trust and be accepted. "You're my best friend, Faye. But did you have to drag me with you?"Faye glared at him. "Throw your fit at the elders, dummy. They're the ones who insisted on you joining."Ryuu let out a deep sigh. "First, I'm locked in my room, and now I'm forced to go outside.""Something's weird," Faye said, glancing around. There were Lycans present on the street, going about their business, most glaring their way—but she could sense death, illness and devastation."Those rude old men meant to send us to our death," s

*"You're an angel, Haemera,"* Therion's voice echoed once again, and Faye sighed shakily. She looked in the mirror, her soulless eyes staring back at her—a complete mess. For a split second, she thought to laugh at how pathetic she looked and felt, but she couldn't. It would only trigger the cycle of condemnation and fear. Weakling, a mistake, an abomination, a monster. Their words had conditioned her to hide and pretend—thinking she had no choice but to bargain her way into a happy life. She wiped the tears from her face, and her gaze shifted. "That's it," she stood to her feet, walked out of her room, and strolled right into their presence with a blank expression on her face. *They can try, but I'm the only one who can protect myself,* she mused. "Put me on trial."Their eyes were on her; the room had gone quiet in her presence. "What?" Emris asked. A smirk grew on Hugh's lips. "Very well, then.""NO!" Emris countered, shooting to his feet. "She won't be going through any tr

The sun seeped through Faye's curtains the next morning in a bright and warm glow. She had just taken a long bath to wash the past week off and clear her thoughts, but it didn't work. Staring at her reflection in the mirror, her blue jeans and white top complimenting her frame, and her silver hair damp, she recalled the image she saw last night. She tore her gaze away from her reflection, the recollection of her silver hair soaked in blood clouding her thoughts like pop-up ads. She quickly ran to the door to escape her room, maybe head to the Conservatory or the Library- anywhere to take her mind off everything even for a second. She reached for the handle and twisted, but it didn't budge. She frowned, rattling the knob slightly. Locked. Her face paled as a million things ran through her head, the loudest a memory from her life in the Aster house. Door locked, uncertain of the day or time of unbearable torture, scared and alone. Her lips parted to call for help, but no sound came

Faye found herself in a room that seemed to stretch for miles and miles without an end. There were gorgeous candles to brighten the room, but the light on the candles were not fire, they were stars. She looked up at the ceiling, and she couldn't see the moon or the stars, but a vast darkness. "Where...am I?" She breathed, her heart drumming against her chest. "Emris?!" "Well isn't that cute?" The star goddess appeared out of thin air, provoking a gasp from Faye, "But you are both so frustrating. Well, especially Emris."Faye swallowed, "Who are you? And where am I?"The star goddess grinned, "To everyone else, I'm the goddess of the stars. But to you, my dear Haemera, I'm Nymirra."Faye's eyes narrowed as she observed Nymirra's appearance, and they went wide, "Who...are you?""Silly!" Nymirra giggled, floating off the ground and playfully flying around Faye, "I just told you, keep up.""Do you want to kill me?" Faye questioned, nervously gripping on her dress, "Because I'm Haemera

"What do you mean by that, Young Alpha?" Michael's voice tore through the silence of the stunned crowd. "You're all aware of the attack that took place weeks ago involving my aunt, uncle and the two Werewolves. But, there's one thing we couldn't let leave the room. My uncle died that day."Michael blinked, looking between Vincent who shrugged, and Emris who held a straight expression. "But Faye brought him back to life."The crowd burst into murmurs and shared displeased glances. "Surely, you don't expect us to believe this?" Michael scoffed, then turned to Nick. "Alpha, do you now see your pack as a joke? Have we reduced the sacred moon bonding night to a night of poorly written entertainment?""Do well to listen, Michael." Nick smiled, a stern look in his eyes. "They aren't finished.""I mean no disrespect Alpha, but this is beyond ridiculous. And it is impossible. If indeed the prophesied doom was amongst us and happened to be the Young Alpha's mate, why would she abandon her pe
