CHAPTER 20

It’s eight in the evening. Stars adorned the velvet black sky draped over the entire city. The light breeze of the night played with Terrence’s hair. Terrence leaned against the trunk of his car. The chirping of cicadas served as the background music for his broken soul.

With a bottle of cold beer in his hand, he drank a swig of it. The beer's velvety texture slid down his throat. His palette was overpowered by its harsh and highly carbonated flavor.

Suddenly, he remembered the task he assigned to Cody a few days ago. They became so busy planning for the Second and Third Family’s downfall that he forgot to ask him about the development of their investigation regarding the strange woman’s disappearance.

He took his phone out of his coat and pressed speed dial five. A few rings and Cody picked up the phone.

“Cody the cool IT speaking. Zupp Boss T?” he responded, sounding like an L.A. boy.
