Grace loved the fact that she was alone for the first time in weeks, alone and free. She did not know what had come over, whether it was the fact she was tired of men trying to control her or she needed space to breathe, but she had easily climbed out of the window! She had taken off her ridiculous shoes and slung them over her shoulder.
Grace ran into the park enjoying the moonlight and fresh air, stopping briefly to look at a fountain. When she walked to the other side of the park and noticed a hospital. Grace walked over there with a smile on her face.
Meanwhile, Xan and Hank were waiting anxiously for Grace to return. After 20 mins, Hank sensed something was wrong.
“Mrs Ling, could you please check the loo to see if Dr Evans is OK?” Hank asked.
Mrs Ling nodded and hurried to the female loo. She came back a couple of minutes later, her face white.
“I am afraid she is not in there!" Mrs Ling said.“Shit! I knew she was upset!”

So, you know what you are doing Li Wei? Go easy on her today, she been through a lot” Xan instructed. “Yes Master, I will give the Lady what she needs!” Li Wei said in a strange tone. “Excellent, Denug and I will be in the meeting if there are any issues!” Xan said as he and Denug walked to Tony’s office. “Do you think it is wise to have Li Wei teach Grace today?” Denug whispered. “Yes, why not?” Xan asked surprised. “Well, you did reject his Sister’s advances!" Denug said seriously. Xan laughed and said "I rejected a lot of women, you know that. I am sure there were no hard feelings. Besides, he would have to have a death wish to hurt a single strand of hair on her head! I think we should be more worried about this meeting, who knows how Tony is going to take the news about events last night!” Denug nodded and they both walked into Tony’s office. ============================================= “Ouch, Li Wei
Grace knew the theory of being in a coma, but that was completely different from being in one. It felt like she was floating in a black sea, where she occasionally heard snippets of people’s voices. Grace had heard her Grandpa’s angry voice asking why she had not woken up yet. She had also heard Xan’s voice asking for to wake up, along with Kitty’s sobbing. Grace tried to concentrate on the voices that brought medical updates. She had heard the Doctor say she could have a bleed on the brain and needed to be moved to a hospital. Another Doctor saying she needed to have emergency surgery to release the pressure and now it was a matter of time for the brain swelling to go down. “We don’t know how much damage has been done, is any until she wakes up. She is off the ventilator, which is a good sign!” The Doctor had said. Grace had mused how much people talk when they think you can’t hear. Grace had heard her Grandpa crying and Hank trying to comfort
Grace opened her eyes and found herself blinking against the harsh light. “It is alright Grace, you are in hospital. Can you hear me?” A friendly Nurse asked. “Yes!" Grace said with a sore throat. “That is very good Grace. Tell me can you feel me doing this on your toes!” A Doctor with grey hair and glasses said as he pricked her toes. “Oww yes, Doctor! Please rest assured all of my nervous systems is fully operational!” Grace moaned. “Ah, I forgot you are a Doctor, Nurse Smith can you please give her a drink. I am Doctor Reed, and we have been looking after you. You came in with substantial injuries including a punctured lung, broken arm and bleeding on the brain. We operated to reduce the pressure and fixed you up!” Doctor Reed explained whilst Grace sipped some water. “Hang on why is my arm not in a cast?” Grace said. “You been in a coma for 3 months Dr Evans!" Nurse Smith said gently. “No, that can’t be
It was a couple of days before she was released and that was under the strict conditions of a health plan. Grace was glad to get back to the mansion but, not as happy as Kitty or Mrs Farthing who would not let her lift a finger!Grace could not help it but she was feeling low. She knew rehabilitation would be a slow process, but this did not stop her from being frustrated.“You doing well Grace, but I don’t need to tell you that you have muscle wastage from been inactive. It will take time, so be patient!” The Physio said three weeks into treatment.“I know, it is just I used to be able to move around and do things!” Grace said“You be able to get back to do things soon enough!” The physio replied as she helped Grace into the wheelchair.“Now remember, a high protein diet to help the Muscles develop!” The Physio reminded her as Kitty came to collect her.“If I have
Grace has pretty much recovered from the beating and coma. It had taken a couple of months of intense rehabilitation, but she was now able to walk and run a substantial distance. This had meant that Grace had restarted her Gang Training. Grace loved the fact that she was now being trained in the use of Guns and Swords. What she did not like was the Dance lessons had also restarted. To be fair, Lucas had softened towards her since the beating. Well, he stopped calling her an uncoordinated Troll, anyway! However, it was with some apprehension that Lucas told her the news. “The Winter Ball is coming up!” Lucas said casually. “Yes, I know. Erin has been teaching me the rules of the Ball and who is attending, It is 3 months away right?” Grace said. “So, has Erin told you what you need to do?” Lucas said, hoping that Erin had broken the news to her. “Well, the American Syndicate is hosting it this year, so I have to be by my Grandpa’s side, gr
Xan watched the screen as he hung up. “Well, how did she take it?” Denug asked from the other side of Xan’s office. “How do you think?” Xan snapped Denug put his hands up in a sign of surrender and said “Look, I won’t pretend I understand what you just did. Surely, it is easier just to tell her?” “Kurt does not want to meet us for coffee and cakes, he is up to something. I can’t risk him finding out where she is at the moment!" Xan explained. Kurt was a genius when it came to technology, there was a slight chance he could trace from Xan’s phone. Kurt had managed to hack the Russian Gangs Network, well that what was presumed, as Kurt was canny enough to cover his electronic tracks. “It might be what he said - he wants to open trade between our Syndicates!" Denug said with a shrug. “Yes, but why now? We have been Syndicate Leaders for over half a decade!” Xan argued. “I suppose along with all spies with been catchin
Two weeks later Xan knew he was in trouble with Grace, big trouble. His visit to Kurt had gone fairly well, they had a draft trade agreement set out. Though as predicted, Kurt had hacked their phones and found nothing of use. The only annoying thing was Nancy; she kept touching him and giving him lustful stares. Xan has made it very clear he was not interested, but she kept trying. The whole situation had made him want Grace more. As soon as he was in the air he had called her, but it kept ringing. “She has blocked you Xan!” Denug said with a sigh. “She has done what?” Xan said shocked. “I warned you Mate, you broke up with her and have not talked to her for two weeks! She is not going to be easy to contact!” Denug said slowly like he was explaining to a small child. “I did not break up with her, we were on a break!” Xan said and Denug had just rolled his eyes. They had not talked about it for the rest of t
“Are you sure Xan? I won’t stand by and let her have her heartbroken again. If she accepts, there is no going back. You understand that?” Tony said firmly. Hank nodded in agreement, he wanted to protect Grace as well. They had both seen the mess Grace was in after the incident with Kurt. “My Chairman does not say these words lightly, he is an honest man!"Denug said bristling at Tony’s tone. “Denug stand down! Tony is perfectly in his right to question any man when it comes to his Granddaughter!” Xan said sharply. He did not want Denug’s loyalty to ruin the most important deal of his life. Denug nodded and looked down. “She is not just any Granddaughter, she is my only Grandchild and Heiress - even if she does not fully understand what that means yet!” Tony said and paused. Kitty had reported last week that Grace had asked for a needle and thread to fix a jumper. Grace never used a quarter of her monthly allowance, she spent more on
