I finally gave in to Kaspian’s invitation.

He led me deeper into the Vipers’ den, threading through the grime-riddled slums of Belmont like a serpent returning to its nest. As we walked, the air grew colder, thicker. Windows slammed shut. Shutters creaked as they sealed. Children disappeared behind doors. No one dared look him in the eye.

Kaspian Valmount wasn’t just feared—he was myth, ghost, plague. A warning etched into the bones of this city.

Behind me, the sound of heavy boots followed. Several Viper thugs trailed close, guns holstered but hands twitching. They kept their eyes on me as if I might pull out a grenade and blow their hideout sky-high. But beneath their bravado, I could feel the hesitation. I wasn’t just any visitor.

I was his guest.

And apparently, that meant something.

I kept my mouth shut and my eyes open. I mapped every step like a soldier behind enemy lines. The cracked lamp posts. The half-lit signage. A rusting, arched pipe that curved over a drainage tunnel. I

  • The Mafia Devil's Princess   Playing Doctor

Once I completed the final notes from my shift and secured my small apartment, possibly for the last time, Sebastian was already outside, placing the last box into the back of his SUV. He moved with that same self-assured elegance he always exhibited, even with the new bruises on his face. I stepped out, my hands tucked into the pockets of my cardigan. The late afternoon sun bathed the pavement in a warm orange hue. It was a stunning view, but for some reason, it left my chest feeling constricted.“Seb… do I really have to move?” I asked, biting the inside of my cheek. He turned to face me, brushing his hands together after loading the last item. “The closer you are to me, the better,” he said plainly. “I can protect you better if you’re in the villa.”I shifted my weight on my feet, avoiding his eyes. “I know that… but…”“But what?” His voice dropped a little. Concern flickered in his features. “Do you not want to go back?”“It’s not like that…” My voice trailed off as I lowered my

  • The Mafia Devil's Princess   Unwanted Visitor

I received a phone call from Damian’s secretary today. A call that asked me to have lunch with him. Of course, I rejected the offer and continued straight to work. I had no idea what my ex-husband had in store for me, but I won’t be there to tolerate it. “Doctor, you have a visitor.”I swiveled my chair to the side. “Good morning, Kierra.”My mood soured, “Damian?” Damian entered my clinic. I was on break, and I didn’t have any excuse not to entertain him. “What do you want, Damian?”“A word with you.”“I’ve already had enough of your words, Mara, can you show him the exit?”My clinic secretary bit her lip in confusion. She didn’t know we had bad blood. “A-Are you sure? Isn’t he a client?”“He’s not a client,” I told her with spite. “You can trust me on that.”“Can you give us a minute?” Mara looked at me and I sighed. I then hovered my hand over, permitting her to go away for a while. She closes the door to the clinic, and Damian gives me a hefty smile. “What do you want, Damia

  • The Mafia Devil's Princess   What Went Wrong?

Damian and I walked out of the school with Tobias. Selene marched towards her car while pulling her own son and scolding him like a dog. As Sebastian and I were about to load Tobias into the vehicle, suddenly someone spoke from behind.“Kierra.”My spine snapped into a rod when I heard his voice. Sebastian tilted his head, his eyes brimming with warning as Damian walked up to us— to me. I turned my head to him, and I could feel all the anger in my veins throb again. I hate this man! He took everything from me!“Can we talk?”He must have been out of his mind when he asked me to talk with him, but there ain’t no way in hell that Sebastian was going to agree.I turned my head at the male, who slipped his hands into his pockets. Sebastian pulled me behind him, sizing up Damian— but his eyes were locked into mine, ignoring him. “What do you want from her?”“I have nothing to say to you,” Damian replied in a pent-up tone. “But I have a few words for Kierra.”“She won’t tell you anything

  • The Mafia Devil's Princess   Conference

It wasn’t long until Sebastian found out that Tobi was being bullied. He came home late that night, and I tried to explain everything calmly—the bruises, the bridge, the uniform soaked in blood—but the fury in his eyes never settled. I suggested we switch Tobi to another school, a fresh start maybe, but he refused.“We’re not running away,” he said coldly. “We’ll deal with this.”A parent-teacher conference was arranged a few days later. It was the more civil approach, yes. I appreciated that Sebastian was trying. But that also meant we’d be seeing them—Damian and Selene.Tobi was reluctant the moment he heard the news. He begged me to change Sebastian’s mind, said he didn’t want this to escalate. But I, too, agreed with the conference.Because Selene needed to learn how to put her damn child in place. That boy… Daryl…I know I shouldn’t let hatred fester inside me. I know he’s a kid. But that child played a part in tormenting my daughter before she died.He mocked her. He laughed whe

“You have all the answers that you need, Kierra Evans.”Kaspian smirked at me. “Sebastian is one of the suspects before your father died.”A chill traced down my spine, sharp and sudden. It can’t be…The air felt heavier, like the world had just tilted off its axis.“You… you can’t be serious, right?” I whispered, my voice strangled with disbelief. “There’s no way Sebastian would betray me like this.”“I’ve heard you ran back to that scoundrel,” Kaspian chuckled lowly. “What are you going to do now?”I took a slow, trembling step back. My world—already broken and stitched with string—cracked again beneath my feet.“What… what should I do?”I wasn’t asking him anymore. I was asking myself.“Always trusting the wrong people, aren’t you, Kierra? You’re a trouble magnet.”“Don’t have to tell me twice,” I muttered bitterly, crossing my arms.I was already spiraling, but now… now there was a seed of doubt in my chest that bloomed like poison ivy. I needed to know what was behind that pictur

“Kierra, you’ve been silent the whole time. Is there something that’s bothering you?”I didn’t have the stomach to finish all the food that Sebastian had brought into the apartment. What I found out the other day was chilling. I have so many questions I wanted to ask, but how? I didn’t want to start losing my trust after I had just made up with him. I cannot be too rash anymore.I gave him a pretend smile, “I’ll be meeting with Alessio and Alex today. You really should leave before they pick me up.”Sebastian sighed and crossed his arms, disappointed. I knew he didn’t want to leave. But the apartment was way too small for two people. “You don’t want to tell them that we’re back together?”I rolled my eyes and pushed him out of the door, “Trust me when I tell you that they already know.”Sebastian turned around and smirked, before planting a kiss on my hair. “Well, is there anything else I can help you with?”I thought of it well, “No… not at the moment. I’ll contact you if I do.”A
