SLOANE.

"Are you out of your mind?! Why would you agree to such a thing?" I yelled and he shot me a deadly glare, I heard his gaze unyielding.

"It was the only way," He claimed.

"Who the fuck are they going to wed?" I demanded even though I already knew.

"I only have one daughter, and she's right in front of me" He replied, I chuckled in anger and picked up the expensive china vase at the side of his room, I hurled the vase and it crashed on the wall at the other side of the room shattering into pieces.

"Control yourself, Sloane, this isn't the time for childish tantrums" He scolded and I glowered at him, the urge to strangle him overwhelmed me and I blinked, snapping out of that thought.

Although I still kept it at the back of my mind.

"Who am I getting married to?" I asked ignoring the tight sensation in my throat, the Sokolovs only have one son and it's that bastard unless there is something else perhaps a cousin-

"Chase Sokolov, he consented to the union" He replied and that was all I needed to hear, I stormed out of the room ignoring my father calling after me, if he gets another cardiac arrest I pray he dies this time.

Fucking traitor.

I never expected this from him, he hates the Russians just as much as I hate them.

Why did he agree to this?

I'm supposed to be the one to take over after his death so why would he want to ship me off with the slightest opportunity he got, is he planning to make Javier take over?

I will kill him and Javier if that's the case, I won't be used to calling a truce and I'm not chaining myself to an animal like Chase.

My phone vibrated in my pocket as I climbed down the stairs, I searched the pocket of my jacket bringing out my phone.

Javier had sent a text with the location of the Paradise hotel, and he was smart enough to add a blueprint of the building.

My lips stretched into a smirk.

All the anger was pumping me up to act and this is just what I needed. I made a quick stop at my armory before leaving, I got on my bike and drove to the location instantly. It was a bit further than I thought.

I stopped in front of a cafe a few blocks away from the Paradise Hotel, the fancy massive building lights up the street in a way that draws all the attention to the hotel.

I took off my jacket and wore a facemask, I strode towards the hotel keeping my strides slow and calculated, the traveling bag in my left hand weighed a ton but I had all the necessary things I needed inside. The guard outside the gate was discussing and they paused when they saw me.

"I was told this hotel provides the best services, can I book a room?" I asked, faking a Russian accent and they exchanged looks.

"We are sorry Miss, the hotel is fully booked" One of them replied gruffly, the other gave me a one over and I regret not wearing something expensive, they probably think I won't be able to afford the hotel.

I sighed and brought out my wallet taking the black card out. I waved it at them, "Now will you open the door and stop judging people based on their appearances" I raised my eyebrows as they bowed.

And that was how I got in, I entered the lobby and pretended to be waiting for my turn with the receptionist. I looked around counting the number of security guards, one by the elevator another in front of the door to the stairs and that was my target. Elevators may have cameras.

I walked past the queue and bumped into a man typing on his phone, he apologized and I bowed, keeping my mouth shut as I walked towards the stairs with the room card in my hand.

Too bad the guy was too busy to notice me slipping the room card out of his pocket.

I waved the card at the guard and he stepped out of the way but as I walked past him, he stopped me, I froze slowly reaching for the curved blade tucked in my pants.

"Why not use the elevators, Miss?" He asked in a thick Russian accent.

"Ugh no, I prefer the stairs, it's also good for exercise" I replied, keeping my fake Russian accent out, I can't risk him asking me a question I wouldn't be able to answer.

"Have you been checked?" He nodded at the traveling bag and I nodded.

"Of course, now if you will excuse me I had a long day and I need to rest" I dismissed and he stepped out of the way, I shut the door after me and replaced the friendly mask with a scowl.

He's suspicious of me and would probably go and ask if I was checked, in fifteen minutes he would come back for me so I need to move fast.

I unzipped the traveling bag beginning with the devices inside. I climbed up the stairs in haste as I fixed the explosives on the walls.

I was almost at the top when the door at the bottom burst open and I winked as the guard from earlier yelled in Russian pointing at me, I rushed to the door as they chased after me, a gunshot was fired and bullets whizzed past my head.

"Shit!" I stumbled but I balanced my stamina, getting to the door I opened it and found myself on the top floor.

I turned and found a camera, I flipped off whoever was watching, I ran towards the elevator as I saw some men in suits walking around.

I entered the elevator and pressed the bottom floor, unzipping the bag again I took out two Glocks.

Surprisingly when the elevator got down I didn't see anyone so I used the opportunity to make my way towards the exit, adrenaline spiked through me as I approached the men in the entrance. I flexed my fingers on the Glock in my waistband but to my surprise, they let me through.

I walked down the street to where I parked my bike wondering why that was so easy, I guess Chase isn't the big bad wolf everyone thought he was.

I removed the face mask and tossed it away, I reached for the remote in my jacket and pressed the red button.

"One, two, three, four..."

Boom!

The loud explosion shook the ground beneath my feet, and I chuckled before putting on my helmet.

"An eye for an eye," I mumbled and drove off immediately ignoring the screams of civilians passing by. The whole place was in disarray after the explosion and the cops will be here soon.

As I drove past Trinity Cove, I took the turn towards the South when I saw it coming.

A truck was driving at high speed towards me.

Before I could swivel off the road, the truck hit me and I bounced off my bike slamming on the hard ground with full force, a wailing sound escaped my lips as I hit my head and blacked out.

CHASE"I just had to hold you." I pulled back a bit to observe her face. "Where were you going earlier? I asked Natalia."A brief shift flickered across her expression—so quick I almost missed it. "Shopping. Just picked up things.""Shopping." I studied her face looking for the deceit I felt lingering between us. All I saw was Sloane looking up at me with those eyes I had learned to recognize after months of being together. "What did you buy?""Nothing exciting. Just some of my things." She raised her hand to gently cup my cheek. "What’s with that expression on your face?""Like what?""As though you are trying to peer into my thoughts."Because I had to be. Because there was an emotion I couldn’t pinpoint and following all that happened with Kazmir and my father I wasn’t certain who I could trust anymore. This was Sloane. The lady to whom I had revealed my love. The lady I had promoted despite my father’s objections. The lady who stayed by my side when I was injured and helpless.I h

CHASE…The papers lay strewn across my desk while I grabbed the phone. Evidence of my father's cruelty staring back at me in columns and fuzzy images. For an hour I had been staring at them trying to reconcile the man I knew—ruthless detached shrewd—with the monster these records revealed.Sex trafficking. Not. Guns or the usual illegal activities connected to our society. This was another issue altogether. Something that made me feel nauseous despite all I had witnessed. My brother knew about it. He had been capturing it on record. He died before he could take any action.I dialed my fathers number, each ring tightening the grip of anxiety coiling in my chest. He answered the call. "Chase. What was your question?""We need to talk about something." I had cautioned him. Threatened to distance myself from his family but this was before I found certain documents in my brother's files. I kept my voice calm even though anger was simmering beneath every word. "The files related to shipping

Such a heartbreaking incident."The abrupt shift in subject caught me off guard. "He’s fine. Improving.""Alright, alright. That's reassuring." He rubbed the nape of his neck, steering clear of my eyes. ". I still can't grasp why you remain with him, especially after what his family put you through."His voice carried a quality that made my skin prickle. "What do you mean?""Don't act naive around me, Sloane." His face grew stern. "You were abducted, snatched by his brother on the brink of being sold like— merchandise.. Then what? I had to give you to Chase Volkov as if you were a deal to ensure your survival. To keep all of us safe." His tone escalated. ". Now you're standing here acting the devoted spouse protecting the family that ruined your life?""That's not—it wasn't like that—""Wasn't that so?" He stepped forward, his hands tightening into f

SLOANEThe bag sat on the car's passenger seat like an accusation. Crafted from canvas an ordinary gym bag anyone might own.. Inside it held fifty thousand dollars in cash that did not belong to me.I gripped the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles whitening. I had been sitting in this garage for ten minutes with the engine running, persuading myself that I could still perform a U-turn. Go back to the penthouse. Put the money back in the safe before Chase noticed it was gone.Yet I had already crossed the line. The moment I took it out of the safe. Place it into this bag. CHASE "There are things you don't know, " Kazmir said, his eyes suddenly sharp despite the scars on his face. "Your father was involved in affairs that would make your treachery look like an act of kindness. You want to know if he knew about me? Fine. He did. He backed it. He thought the group needed guidance and I was picked to provide it."The words should have shocked me, they should have hurt.. They just connected like puzzle pieces I had been avoiding for far too long." You really believed him? Believed that after getting rid of me he would let you manage everything?" I shook my head. "I thought you were smarter than that...""I believed I lacked any option. Your father clearly cautioned me that if you failed to act right, someone else would..." He leaned forward much as his restraints allowed. "He’s scheming, Chase. Something big.. Whatever it is, you're preventing it."I rose from the chair pulling it over the floor beneath me. Unintentionally my fist connected with Kazmir's

CHASEThe house seemed abandoned the instant I stepped inside. Not silent. Empty, in a manner that provoked a sense of discomfort within me. The maids were absent everywhere."Sloane?" I shouted, I didn’t get a reply. I wandered around the living room looking over the bedroom, the bathroom and the kitchen where Natalia was cooking meals. It appeared she had told the maid to observe as they got ready, for other tasks."Are you aware of Sloane’s whereabouts?" I asked, keeping my voice steady despite a gnawing anxiety coiling within me.Natalia glanced up from slicing vegetables appearing serene.“She left twenty minutes earlier to drop something off.” "Wherre?" I inquired, my eyebrows knitted."She didn’t utter a word, Chase and also she will keep you informed alright? Just avoid following her or anything." Natalia said, gesturing towards me with her hands.“Okay fine.”"She's alright she simply needed to handle an errand she's perfectly fine okay? No need to be concerned. It's been
