Chapter 17

Della's POV

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

I leap off of Alessandro's lap at the sound of shots. He quickly gets up and takes out a gun from his cabinet.

"Remain here, lock the door when I leave and hide yourself inside my closet." He says in a quiet voice.

I hold his arms tight as tears begin tumbling down my face, "You're not kidding?!"

He wipes away my tears with his thumbs prior to saying, "Shhh, I'll be back in no time amore."

I begin crying and shaking with dread. He gives me a kiss before repeating his previous instruction, "Lock the door immediately I leave and go hide yourself in my closet, please. I'll return to you, I promise you."

I nod my head fearfully. Putting one final peck on my forehead, he leaves and shuts his office door behind him.

When it closes, I run and lock it before racing to his wardrobe and plunking down in the corner.

I carry my knees to my chest and embrace my legs tight while putting my head down.
