The sound softly went with the rhythm of my heart. My eyes fluttered open. Glancing around, I quickly recognized the place. Why was I at Dr. Michael's? Searching the room, it was hard to make out everything, as my eyes were still adjusting.

"Thank God. You're awake," Alek said, his voice softer and filled with concern. He gripped my hand in his.

Finally, I could focus and see things. Alek stared at me. "Hey. I'm okay," I reassured him, squeezing his hand.
