Yasmine’s POV

I hum softly, hair tied in a loose bun with stray strands framing my face. With one last stroke, I step back from the canvas.

The Wildflower Collection.

The painting glows with freedom and wild beauty. My chest swells with pride. Weeks of sleepless nights, coffee-fueled mornings, and aching fingers and finally, it’s done.

I peel off my apron, stained with splashes of color, and hang it on the rack. In the restroom, I let my hair tumble loose, long waves falling down my back. A swipe of peach lipstick, moisturizer on my hands, and I look a little less like a sleep-deprived artist and more like a woman who deserves to breathe again.

Tonight, I’ll surprise Nathan. Two weeks apart is long enough.

Grabbing my tote, I lock up the studio and step into the vibrant hum of New York. My phone buzzes as I dial Matthew my best friend, my agent, the shameless CEO of Bohemian Galleries.

“Yasmine, my girl!” his cheerful voice booms.

I chuckle. “Hey, Matt. Just wanted to tell you I’m done. The Wildflower Collection is complete.”

“Wow, that’s fantastic! Drinks tonight, my treat.”

I shake my head, smiling. “Not tonight. I’m going to see Nathan. It’s been a while, and I don’t want him feeling neglected. Tomorrow we can shop, okay?”

“Fine, fine. But after weeks of hard work, you deserve more than champagne. Go get laid, babe.”

“Matt!” Heat rushes to my cheeks. “You’re impossible.”

Laughing, I spot a taxi and wave it down. “I’ll call you later.”

“Bye, troublemaker.”

I slide into the cab. “Madison Avenue, please.”

***********

The apartment door clicks open after I punch in the code. My arms ache from the grocery bags, but my heart beats fast with excitement. I drop the bags on the counter and call out:

“Nathan? I’m here!”

No answer.

Frowning, I head toward the bedroom and freeze.

A blonde woman in a terry robe sits at the vanity, mascara wand in hand. She blinks at me like I’m the intruder.

“Who are you?” she asks.

I laugh, sharp and cold. “Funny. I was about to ask you the same thing.”

She tilts her head, lips curling. “Nathan, baby? Come here!”

My stomach twists.

And then he appears head poking out of the bathroom, toothbrush between his teeth, that same crooked smile I once adored.

“Coming! What’s up, Cassandra

” His words die when his gaze locks on me. His face drains of color. “Yasmine? Baby? What are you....”

“Don’t you dare,” I snap, my voice trembling with fury.

Cassie swivels to him. “Wait. Who the hell is she?”

“She’s...”

“I’m his fiancee,” I cut in, my eyes burning. “Or I was. Apparently, he forgot to mention that part while screwing you.”

Cassie’s jaw drops. “Fiancee? You told me you were single!”

I laugh bitterly. “Oh, Nathan. A year with her, an engagement with me… You must be exhausted juggling your lies.”

Nathan steps closer, hands out like I’m some wild animal he needs to soothe. “Yas, please. It was a mistake. I swear, it meant nothing.”

“A mistake?” My voice cracks. “Is that what you call this?”

I turn to Cassie. “Hear that? He says you’re the mistake. How long has this been going on?”

Her face flushes red. She stands, yanking clothes off the floor and muttering curses. “Unbelievable. I wasted a year on you.”

Nathan flinches. “Cassie, don’t ”

“Don’t what?” she spits, jamming her legs into jeans. “You’re a liar. And you ” She points at me. “I’m sorry. You deserve better than this trash.”

She storms out, heels clacking like gunshots. The door slams, leaving silence thick enough to choke on.

Nathan rakes a hand through his damp hair. “Yas, listen. We can fix this. The wedding’s in two months. Don’t throw everything away because of one stupid fuck"

“Don’t you dare put this on me.” My hands shake as I drag a suitcase from the wardrobe. Clothes fly into it, one after another. “You cheated. You lied. You broke us.”

“Stop! You’re overreacting...”

I whirl on him, eyes stinging with unshed tears. “Overreacting? Do you want me to clap politely while you screw around behind my back? Should I just smile and bake a damn wedding cake?”

“Yas....”

“No.” I slam the suitcase shut. “I’m done. This condo is the only thing tying us together, and I’ll call the realtor tomorrow. I’m staying with Matt tonight.”

His face twists, anger flashing. “Fine! Do whatever you want!”

I drag the suitcase toward the door, heart shattering with every step.

“Exactly,” I spit, yanking the door open. “I will.”

The slam echoes down the hallway.

My chest heaves, hot tears burning but I don’t look back.

Because this time, I’m not the one losing. He is.

Yasmine’s chest heaved as Luca forced himself between her thighs, stretching her open with one brutal thrust. She cried out, her palms pressing against his chest, trying to shove him away even as her body clenched around him.“Stop—” she gasped, twisting under him. “I don’t want this.”His mouth curled into a dark smile, his thrusts deep and merciless. “Liar. Your body betrays you, amore. You’re dripping for me.”Her nails dug into his shoulders, desperate to hurt him. “You disgust me, Luca. You’re a murderer.”His eyes flared, anger flashing like lightning. He pulled back only to slam into her again, making her cry out. “Then hate me,” he snarled against her ear. “Hate me while I make you come on my cock.”Her shame burned hotter than her fury, but she couldn’t deny the way her hips arched against him. “I—” She broke off with a moan, biting her lip to stop the sound.“Say it,” he demanded, his hand gripping her chin, forcing her gaze to lock on his. “Say you want me.”She shook her h

Yasmine stayed in her room for the rest of the day, and when it was time for dinner, she told Valentina to bring the food to her room. She felt so angry with herself and betrayed and wondered how she was going to escape his clutches. His confrontation solidified Gianna's accusations, and she wouldn't lie to herself anymore.**********She had fallen asleep after a while due to her dark thoughts and woke up to a dark figure disrobing in the room. After several blinks, she realized it was Luca. He savagely ripped at his clothes as if they had offended him. He yanked his shirt off before flinging it across the room, his fingers fumbled at his buckle, metal clanging not in hesitation but due to the sheer force he was applying to it. After undressing, he was completely naked and stalked towards the bed angrily. She gasped, her brain finally woke up, and she realized why he was there and should have made her escape while he was disrobing. In the blink of an eye, he wrapped his hand around h

She couldn’t believe that Luca was only just a cold-blooded murderer, but the evidence stared her right in the face. Still, something felt wrong. “You have all the evidence you need. These pictures are enough to bring him down. Why don’t you use them?” she demanded. “We can’t build a case against him with pictures alone,” Gianna replied coldly. “We need something bigger. We need to catch him in the act and that’s where you come in.” Yasmine’s voice broke with disbelief. “You can’t do anything about him, and yet you expect me to? Does that even make sense? I’m practically a prisoner!” “It’s either you help us, or you remain in his clutches for the rest of your life,” Gianna retorted angrily. She leaned closer, her tone sharp. “Luca is obsessed with you. He will never let you go. Do you know that soon after he met you, he called off his betrothal to the Bianchi family? You may never see your parents again, because he plans to marry you. So don’t even think of leaving Italy unless he

Valentina selected several Italian food ingredients, both frozen and fresh, before they moved on to the clothes and bags section. Under Lucas’ careful instructions, she picked out a few outfits and handbags. Once they had everything they needed, the group made their way to a small coffee shop within the complex. Choosing a window-side table, they handed all their shopping bags to Santo and the other men before settling in for a cup of coffee. Yasmine ordered a cappuccino, while Valentina opted for a latte. Yasmine scrolled through her I*******m reels for a while, sipping slowly, before excusing herself to the ladies’ restroom. Santo, as always, stationed himself outside the door while she went inside. At the sink, as she washed her hands, another woman approached her. She looked ordinary, passable, no threat on the surface, but Yasmine’s instincts prickled with unease. She deliberately averted her gaze. “Hi, Miss Fernandez,” the woman greeted suddenly, her tone warm. Yasmin looke

Yasmine POV - The next morning. Luca pressed the black platinum card into her hand while she looked up in surprise. “What do you want me to do with this?” she asked as her eyes widened with surprise. “What's else but to spend it?" “But I don’t want this, take it back,” Luca, she refused. “I’m giving you that card because I want you to use it. I set up the account for you. Stop making it a big deal and spend as much as you want. No limit,” he said and without waiting, grabbed his jacket and left me gaping after him. I looked down at the card in my hand with an uneasy feeling. This is a big step in our relationship. Sleeping with him is one thing, but now spending his money… does that make me a mistress? I shook my head and slipped my bag over my shoulder before grabbing my bag and phone before leaving the room. On getting to the sitting room, Valentina was waiting for me with a pleasant smile on her face. “Signorina, good morning,” She said beaming. Dressed in a blue flo

  • The Mafia' s Bride   Chapter 37

Yasmine POV I rested my head on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The sheets cocooned us as we lay entwined, my fingers idly threading through the hairs on his chest. After the shower, he had taken me several more times until exhaustion left me weak and trembling in his arms. “When are we leaving tomorrow?” I asked, meeting his gaze. “As early as morning. Why? Don’t want to leave yet?” he murmured, tilting his head toward me. “The estate is so secluded… can’t we stay a little longer?” I pressed softly. “How about this why don’t you go shopping with Valentina tomorrow? I still have a few matters to take care of here. You can explore the city to your heart’s content.” His tone sharpened slightly. “But make sure you stick with the guards.” “Yes, sir. I will.” I smiled, but his eyes darkened in that way that always made my toes curl. He could be so intense at times, and in moments like this, I felt like the man has an even darker side to him. ******
