Her life that once revolved around just career and love, was now caught in a turning point that she didn't know was possible to happen. Her wedding with Lawrence is just months away, but this occurrence turned that dreamy moment into a blurry and unreachable one.
“We brought the doctor with us, Boss.” Through phone call, one of the bunch of men said.
Georgia didn't know for how long she was unconscious, but she could feel her surrounding now. And honestly, she didn't like what this place feels like–it gives her shivers. There's something that emits a heavy atmosphere in the surrounding, not to mention that it also feels like she’s being absorbed to the dark abyss like a black hole that swallow anything.
With her eyes unstable, her first instinct told her to move. But something is restraining her–no, it’s more like of she is being restrained! Her unstable eyes finally came into life, but what greeted her eyes weakened her knees in fear.
“What… Where am I…? Where is this…?” a hoarse voice emerged from her sweet one as her eyes started to shake. Slowly, she turned her head to the right side, hoping to get an answer, but that attempt left her cheeks in pain when the person from that side forcefully turned her head to the front.
“Don’t do anything useless.” The same person regarded her coldly, a voice as deep as the ocean.
Hence, she was ought to meet the same thing that seemingly turned her stomach upside down–it was a relief that she didn't manage to vomit. Right in front of her is a long table faced horizontally at her, a table that holds different weapons.
As her wide and fearing eyes fixated at those weapons, all of a sudden, she and everyone of them heard footsteps from an expensive shoes that is directed to where they are. The energy from that footsteps is utterly different from the bunch of big people in suits here. With Georgia just alone, this place have many huge people… occupying every corner and the edge of this wide and spacious room.
There's no escaping for her–now, that the one who was called boss is now right in front of her.
“Hmm? This is the doctor?” A tall man, whose shadow was casted over her small body, asked, as if to confirm about something. Contrary to the first voice that Georgia heard, this man… who has the eyes of the dark and grey clouds she saw earlier, has this voice that seemed to only utter a tease and just anything that would get on one's nerves–on Georgia, for instance.
But something in the depth of that voice is one thing that Georgia can't escape from–the fear. While she was already stood frozen, she was succumbed with shock when that man lifted her chin and observed her facial features closely. She had to hold her breath, otherwise, she doesn't know what extent of scary move would get her.
“So, there is a monster under this sheep, huh?” in a low voice that’s enough for her to hear, the man spoke with his hunter-like eyes gazed at her hazel-brown irises. The fear was written all over the face of the woman–and that encouraged him to smirk, eventually taking off his hand.
“You just made a huge mistake, woman.” He uttered. Although, Georgia's eyes were already shaking in fear, she still followed her gazes to him. And for a moment there, a figure of a person occurred in her mind. Now, that she got a closer look of him… there's no mistaking it!
Slowly, her eyes widened in surprise when she had come into an unexpected realization.
“Primo… Bonsignore…” that name escaped from her lips. The man she saw at the screen earlier–that new face on the richest list! However, one thing she didn't know is what comes after carelessly uttering that name. Not only she was being restrained now when a man behind her forcefully got her body on her knees. Georgia winced in pain when she felt her shoulder bone clicking.
“You’re not allowed to say his name, Doc.” The same man who grabbed her cheeks, told her. Georgia's hands are cuffed behind her–leaving her defenseless, like a prey surrounded by fearsome predators.
“What are the details, Manuel?” Georgia lifted her head when she heard Primo spoke again. Perhaps, he meant about the root of her being kidnapped! After all, neither does she know why is this happening to her! All of her life, she didn't have any memories of coming against people like them–!
Wait a second… people like them…? Wait, who exactly are they? As those question cradled her, Georgia slowly began to roam her eyes around–but she could see nothing other than the wall and the men in suit. Again, who… are these people? How are they associated with one of the richest person, Primo? – no! It’s the other way around!
How is Primo, a public figure, associated with them?!
“This is Doctor Georgia Musni, the surgeon assigned to operate the Alpha Uno. Earlier at 10:43am, Doctor Georgia was found entering the same operation room where the Alpha Uno is, which we believed that corroborated with our prior knowledge that Alpha Uno was the only patient to be operated this day, 9th of July.” Manuel narrated. Although there were some things that confused the doctor, there was one thing that fully caught her attention.
“Our hospital is huge and we have at least 22 patients being operated in a day!” As if the fear have subsided, replacing her professionalism, Georgia didn't hesitate to butt in and align the facts.
“You won't speak unless you’re told, Doc.” Manuel casted a chilling glance at her, quickly withdrawing her boldness.
“We made sure that the Alpha Uno should be the only patient that the surgeons should focus on to increase the success of the operation,” Georgia wanted to refute those filthy words, words that only speak underestimation to her fellow surgeons! But she had to keep it on her tongue… if she wanted to survive in this dark place.
“But the exact opposite happened when Alpha Uno ended up dead.” Manuel spoke coldly as he returned to his position. “That’s all, Boss.”
“And who’s responsible for that?” Georgia whose mind tangled with those unbelievable facts, slowly lifted her head in front of her when she heard that low and teasing voice. Well she didn't have to lift her head when Primo bended on his legs to look at her in the eyes.
“You only have one job yet you still failed to save my father, Doc.” That was a slap on the face of Georgia. She wanted to talkback and defend her profession, but Primo’s eyes looked like a tiger’s that could devour her in a moment.
Mouth gaped open, Georgia stared back at him. Everything that happened earlier and their statements were not aligned at all.
“But my operation is a success and my patient is alive.” Although she was already told to only speak when she’s allowed, Georgia still can't help it. Just how come their realities aren't coinciding? She was just accused for a crime that didn't happen in her reality.
What in the actual hell is happening here?
The reality wherein they believed the fault was on the poor doctor shattered in just a snap. Primo flinched, absolutely couldn't believe what he just heard. Or is this woman just trying to feed them lies to postpone the punishment?“Come again?” Primo asked, staring intently at the doctor who took a huge gulp as she received those gazes. Everyone looked at her. While some had the look of disbelief, others just smirked on it, thinking the same way as Primo does–this woman is just playing some tricks, and they are not buying it.“I didn’t have a failure surgery operation ever since I started my career–not to brag. My patient–or your father is alive and is now getting rest. Although, heart rupture could be fatal, we still managed to complete and succeed on the surgery–however, that should not be the reason to state the patient as ‘dead’ prematurely.” Georgia answered, confidently. The tone in her voice is hopeful yet at the same time neutral. Perhaps, it was about how she knew what actua
Frozen on her feet, Georgia stared at Primo with her wide eyes blinking twice. The last thing she knew was she was getting imprisoned, which was the reason she was wailing! But now… she’s in an open place! Damn, she’s even in the same roof with this man!“Have you considered the kiss already? Why are you looking at me like you've just been mesmerized?” how he had the guts to utter those words needs to be studied, seriously. Primo’s grin never left, and his confidence is too overwhelming with his arm on the threshold. As if thunder occurred behind her, Georgia flinched out of irritation. She was supposed to fear this guy, after all, he's the boss of–probably a gangster family. But no! The moment he triggered her yesterday, other than fear, something adds up to it–and it’s how she started to get irritated with his tease! But then again, she knew she is not yet bold enough to refute those teases with the real emotion she’s feeling. Hence, as much as she could, she tried to calm down and
Ever since Georgia’s mischief encounter with Primo and his gang, she never had the chance to have peace anymore–not in this territory could she ever have. Triggering events continued to happen, and the worst of it all was that kiss! “Fucking bastard! I swear to god, that slap is not enough!” Georgia gritted as she dug her nails on her palm. She could still feel it! His lips rubbing on hers! If only god could allow her to change her lips, she wouldn’t hesitate to ask for it immediately! She’s still steaming with fury. Despite being invited for dinner, Georgia never left her room–she doesn’t know what comes next once she steps out. For the meantime, she will have this room as her temporary shelter, there’s nowhere she could run to after all. While Georgia is fuming, Primo is found satisfied with what he had done–the smirk on his face said so. However, that was just for a brief moment because of the problem staring at his face. Although Georgia appeared to be a worthy distractor, Primo
Last night, Primo asked for a personal request from Jennifer over the phone. This is his first time dealing with a woman who got dragged on to their activities–Primo obviously doesn't have any ideas about how he will open her heart to him. Hence, the woman named Jennifer made her appearance–the only woman he could approach regarding this matter.“I don’t have to introduce myself to you, then.” Jennifer replied with the same smile as she heard the careful utterance of her name through Georgia’s mouth. “Hmm, I bet you haven’t eaten yet, have you?” as she took her way toward the pathway leading to the kitchen, Jennifer made a stop half-way for a second as she looked at her.Of course, Primo told her about it–everything she needed to know about her.It may sound like a wild guess, but Georgia knew that she got it from Primo. It was still surprising to see the presence of this renowned woman here–but Georgia ought to take this as a good sign–just because that fiery-appearing person is a wom
Led by Bravo Uno with Manuel’s help, Primo’s personal security guard, they finally got the entire picture of the event that happened prior to the former boss’ death. Primo felt like the organization was being trampled–just with the fact that the enemies went straight to the boss!Of course, they’re not allowed to go easy on them upon countering their attacks–if it meant exhausting everything they got to crush them, then that path is the most ideal one. After devising their plan, Primo immediately looked for Jennifer to get her insights about Georgia and a particular situation.“The world is indeed so small~” Jennifer spoke as the cold wind brushed through her skin. While her eyes are fixated in a far distance, her weight was carried by a single chair at the balcony in the fifth floor. “The opportunity itself called for me. So sorry, Georgia, but you’re meant to be here.” She uttered as she watched that woman crouching by the seaside to look for the ring that Primo threw away. The wom
Although the action was questionable, Georgia thought of taking advantage of it anyway. What’s important now is she’s finally freed from Primo’s grasp.“I could infer that you really got Primo’s heart, Honey.” In the deafening silence inside the car, Jennifer chose to break the silence. “That was surprising as I don’t really see anything special in you.” Jennifer added as she showed her a smile afterward, leaving Georgia flabbergasted. She kept on smiling, but Georgia could see that there's something beneath it.“I don’t think the boss is that serious about me.” Georgia answered firmly. It just didn’t seem like Primo took her seriously. What happened involving them just all seem like jokes and teases to her. “Well, if you say so.” Jennifer responded. But the smile never leaving her face suggests something different. Her smile definitely signifies that there’s more to it–that she doesn’t want to disclose to her. In the end, Georgia, who’s right beside her, just stared at her intently.
Going back to the day before the rhythm of her life took a strange turn, everybody in the hospital was busy. None of the doctors were taking their time leisurely–they were chasing for the time of the lives of their patients. The clock has just struck at 9:30am. The skies were blue and the ambience wasn’t that much tied-up yet. Covered up in surgical personal protective equipment including the face and hair, a figure of a man sneaked inside the empty reception. He’s tall with an amusing body proportion. He specifically went straight to the cubicle owned by Nurse Lily. He made it look so calm and natural in sneaking that even when a nurse came in, he didn’t even flinch.“Are you looking for something, Doc? I can help.” It was Nurse Logan. He came closer to him to offer help–only to receive intent gazes from him. Nurse Logan was genuinely concerned, so he waited for his response. The vibration of his phone, however, cut the momentum–brushing off his gaze from him. He widened the opening
It feels like a bucket of ice was poured over her body. Her eyes, widened and terrified, were fixated at the monitor while she was seated frozen on her seat. Shown before her eyes is the playing footage of the sickening event that happened on that fateful day.“No… this isn’t true…” her trembling mouth finally has enough strength to speak. She could feel her blood draining out of her body. The paleness and cold added to the tense she’s feeling as her mind tried to decipher the video–although she’s basically spoon-fed with enough information right now.The confusion she had that day that she had chosen to ignore was brought back today. The things she chose to ignore were now coming together to make up an unthinkable picture. So, it wasn’t just a simple confusion she had when she learned that Lawrence was on surgery by the time when it wasn’t in his schedule. The presence she felt in her office when she was looking for him that she chose to ignore in fear that he could be a harmful per
All throughout their banters, Manuel, who’s in the front driving, was just listening to all of it while occasionally stealing glances at them. Boss, this is so unlike you. He doesn’t even know what to react other than to be amused by such a behavior he had witnessed.“Mi Amore? We’re here…” a soft masculine voice suddenly rang on Georgia’s ears. She felt something hard in her head. It was as if she was leaning on a person. Slowly, her consciousness went back from drowsiness. Then she gently rubbed her eyes, careful not to smudge her makeup. “We’ve arrived.”The same voice ensued, prompting her to look up. And her eyes widened from being sleepy when she saw Primo so close to her! He could even feel his breath! With that, she quickly sat straight upon realizing that she had been leaning on his chest!“That seemed like a good sleep, Mi Amore.” Primo remarked that is followed with his grin. Georgia was about to get out of the car, when Primo quickly caught her arm. “I’ll do it for you.” H
Due to the fact that Georgia left the condominium she shared with Lawrence, she had nothing on the roof. Fortunately, she remembered her older brother whose house is currently empty while he’s away working as a pilot. After getting his permission, she went straight there in an instant and stayed for the night–which also meant Raphael tailing behind her. Now, one thing that she’s only worrying about is the party later. “Honestly, you really didn’t have to do this. I can manage myself.” Georgia spoke in a matter of fact. She was making breakfast for both her and Raphael who was patrolling outside.“Ma’am, you’re saying something?” Raphael quickly stood by the door and peeked over at her. Georgia halted from making toasted bread and sighed. She thought he was inside like the last moment she saw him!“Never mind. You tell your boss that I don’t need you.” She said and prepared the coffees. As she was done, she brought the breakfast to the veranda where Raphael had been sightseeing the ne
“But you’re aware that I’m busy, right?” Georgia still has more to say regarding the invitation she received. It was already obvious by her profession! To her surprise, the response from the other line left her jaw dropped.“I got your schedules cleared already. You’ll also be having paid absences. I will also get your dress delivered later. You have nothing to worry about. All I need is your presence.” Primo responded calmly. He basically has everything covered already, without even letting her know in the first place!Since when did he do that?! Does she even have more excuses to decline this invitation?!“I don’t accept answers other than your acceptance, Mi Amore. I’ll pick you up before evening by tomorrow. Get your beauty rest for the meantime~” thinking that he paused, Georgia was about to speak. But then, she was quickly beaten to the punch. He still has more to say!“And oh, by the way, don’t be that bothered by Rapha’s presence. He’s your personal bodyguard from now on.” And
“Sweetie… what’s the meaning of this?” Lawrence’ low and soft voice ensued as he looked at Georgia with the face of shock. He was holding the piece of paper she left last night. Georgia looked down on it when she saw the slight tremble in his hand that held it.But she quickly removed her eyes from it. Lawrence felt his world crashing as he saw that reaction. Then, he moved his gaze toward her knuckles… her empty fingers. Just as what he read on the letter, the ring isn’t there anymore.“I’m so sorry, Lawrence. Please, excuse me.” Georgia avoided his gaze and walked past him. The grip on her knuckles was so tight that she could dig her nails on her skin. She walked away with heavy steps, leaving him behind.Lawrence's jaw dropped as his eyes floated blankly out of surprise. However, something caught his attention that cleared his vision. A car from across suddenly rolled down the windshield, revealing the presence of the person he knew who’s wearing shades. Despite the shades, he cou
Did she make the right call? The man she was together with for three years… is it really right for her to cut everything? Georgia took a long sigh as she took a sip on the hot coffee inside the cafe. Actually, leaving a note in his sleep last night just seemed like a really dumb call to her. After all, they’re bound to meet in the hospital.Unless, she would make it obvious to avoid him–which is likely to happen. She doesn’t have enough guts for a confrontation yet.Rather than keeping up and marrying him while ignoring what he did, Georgia chose an action that would give them peace eventually–even if it takes long for peace. She chose a path where both of them would be free, and let fate decide what’s going to happen in her and his life.“Having deep thoughts?” as her gaze floated blankly, a familiar irritating voice suddenly ensued from behind. Her head responded quickly and turned to where the voice came from. There she saw the annoying smile on the face of Primo. As Primo felt ack
The silence in the room has never been this loud ever. Georgia walked through the room painted in pastel color. But the bright lights illuminating couldn’t even lift the weight in her heart. This is the condominium that she and Lawrence lived together in. And now that walked alone in this wide space, the silence didn’t fail to make her feel so alone ever.“I don’t know what to do anymore…” her voice cracked as her knees weakened. With the wall behind, Georgia got the support of her back. She bit her lower lip, trying to resist the urge of crying. “What am I gonna do?...” This time, Georgia finally let her tears roll down her cheeks. She’s stuck with the decisions lying on her hand. What exactly is the right thing for her to do right now? Keep on going through this and marry him and forget what she knew? Or cut her ties with him after confronting him on the face? Just thinking about the series of choices in her mind breaks her already.“Sweetie…” perhaps it was because of her occupied
There was a tinge of hope in Georgia that wanted to suggest that Primo isn’t serious about what he just said before he dropped off the call. However, that tinge of hope went along the abyss of hopelessness when she found him on the ground floor at the hospital through the glass window. That was just a few minutes after their phone call!Georgia quickly elevated toward the ground floor and met him who was about to pick his phone up to call her. She stared at him for a second with her intent gazes before deciding to drag him out of the hospital and brought him to the park nearby with only a few people..“What is this about?” Georgia’s voice was chilling as she spoke. She picked the photos from her lab coat and showed them to him. “How did you know that I’m related to him? How did you know whom to bring these photos to?” then Georgia closed her eyes as she felt her heart beating fast in edging emotions.“Please tell me that you’re just messing with me…” her eyes met his grey ones that w
