Mateo's Pov

“ Drop your gun,” I snapped, my voice cold. As I waited for the kids to get upstairs.

My breath hitched, as I stared at her. Why was she holding a gun? Were they planning to kill Serena's children? I didn't break eye contact with her, nor did I shoot, I wasn't gonna do any. K didn't want to kill anyone in this house, not when she has principles.

“ You drop it,” she said. Trying to be calm as her hands were visibly shaking.

I could sense it from her stance. She looked extremely stressed. I stared at her fingers, checking if she even knew how to pull the trigger, but she didn't. So I just smiled it off. I retracted my gun into my back pocket.

“ Leave this house now,” I said. “ I wouldn't say it again. Unless you want to surrender your life to Lucifer.” I said,

These were my signature words. I don't say that unless I actually don't feel like killing the person. And I didn't actually feel like killing her. She might be a great source later on.

She lowered her gun, I watched as she slowly made her way towards me. I didn't react as I also waited for her to get close, watching her as she made her way out of the house.

And the guy at the door, the familiar looking guy, also did the same. Moving out of the house. In the next second he came back in. Staring at me, he said.

“ Mum, I think we should leave.”

And that was when I realized grandma was still standing there. They weren't worth killing anyways. Killing them was just a waste of time.

I quickly hit the stairs. As I moved up the stairs. Each step I took echoed through the whole building. As soon as I got into the hallway, I paused.

There were many doors, so many doors. Where do I start looking for them? Oh Lucifer, why the heck did I even volunteer to do this shit? As soon as I asked myself those questions, my mind retracted back to what she had saidーshe was keeping an eye on my every move. Only Lucifer knows how she manages to do that.

But, I couldn't throw these words away, they were what I knew. She had done it so many good damn fucking times and now? I think I am playing with my freedom if I go against her again.

“ Hey,” I called. “Hello?” I called again. It sounds a bit awkward.

“ Kids come out, I mean no harm!” I yelled.

With each word, I took a step forward. Making my way into the house. I let out a deep breath. Waiting, waiting for them to just come out or even reply to me.

“ Hey!” I yelled.

I couldn't spend more than an hour here, I needed to get back to the mansion so I could deal with that big old guy.

I paused, my eyes caught something. Something sharp, I could feel a sharp gaze on me from all sides, but I didn't know where they were.

Swiftly a door snapped shot behind me, without thinking much about it, I rushed towards the door. As soon as I pushed it open…

“ Now, now, now!” I heard a loud feminine voice, she sounded just like Serena would.

Immediately, I felt a loud bang across my head. The pain shot through me, and for the first time in decades I actually felt my vision blurred. Wow, the hit was hard.

“Urgh!” I let out a loud groan as the pain was more unbearable than I thought.

“ Hey, I am not a bad person!” I yelled as I saw a boy right in front of me. He was holding an iron rod.

I quickly raised my hand to stop him, I wasn't ready for the next hit. I didn't want to die in their hands. In any way possible, if this matter was presented in the court, they wouldn't take my side, the judge would say they were acting in self defense. And I am not ready to die yet.

“ Speak! Who sent you?” He yelled, his voice sharp.

Wow, Serena really trained these kids well, they have action. Unfortunately, they acted weaker when they were overpowered. They are so lovely.

I laughed out loud at his sudden outburst, but I didn't dare keep my gaze away from that iron rod in his hands. I raised my hand, trying to stop him from his neck attack.

“ Hey, I am not a bad person.” I said, I sounded awkward.

I didn't believe what had happened, these children made me laugh. That laugh that had been kept like a silver stone in years, was now something I did freely.

“ Okay,” he said, finally dropping his shield. “ Why are you here then?” He asked.

“ I was sent here by your mum,” I said.

No matter how cold I was in real time, I could not make them sad one bit, or make them have a bad impression. I knew who their mother was. I knew how hard she is to trick.

I would have killed her, but she wasn't an easy target. And when I said she wasn't an easy target, I meant she would have set my own building on fire as soon as she noticed I am planning against her, she is always one step ahead of me.

The silent lengthened for some second, becoming unbearable.

“ I told you mum wasn't lying,”. He said, turning towards the girl behind him.

“ Yeah yeah, you said that. But I still don't believe she would send a guy with a gun.” She said,

“ All the same,” he said, slightly tapping my shoulder.

And I swear, I was stunned. What? These kids were more daring than their mother.

“ He came in at the right time anyways.” He said.

“ Yeah, or else… Sila would have cut off our heads.”

Mateo's Pov As soon as the words left her mouth, she seem to understand the weight of what she'd just said, because I had forgotten how to breathe for a moment. Not only that, it was as if my lungs were not responding to air at all. “ I don't understand,” I said. For all my life, this is the first time my voice would ever tremble. Oh Lucifer, why am I in this dilemma? For the first time ever, my voice had trembled really hard, all for the sake of not wanting to lose my freedom. “ Boss, she means the kids are not responding to treatment.” Mathew said beside me. I swallowed hard, the long loss of breath made me gasp for air the next minute. Although it didn't appear in my face, it was really evident in my pocket . My hands were in my pocket, slightly trembling. I couldn't break the strong facade nor could I let this goddamn nurse do their work lazily. “ Try harder,” I said, my voice cold, letting out a cold sigh. “I want them discharged from here in the next two days.”

Serena's Pov. I jumped to my feet as soon as the guy came to my cell gate, he had a wry smile across his face. And for one moment, I thought he wanted to do something wrong to me, so I just pinned my gaze on him as he hinged forward. A wide smirk tugged across my lips as I prepared to attack him. He might have thought I was a weak faggot. I didn't say anything, I just watched his steps carefully. He paused, grabbing his belt, he let out a deep sigh. “ Time for lunch,” he said. I hissed, the smile disappeared immediately. I had thought of making him a scapegoat. And everyone in this cell would know I wasn't joking here. “ Okay,” I said, rising to my feet. I dusted my clothes. Afterward I made my way out of the cell walls. With each step I took, the cold damp smell filled my nose, and the crazy odor from the guy right In front of me. I looked past him as I slowly made my way into the dining area. Ever since the day I stepped into these walls, each and every one of them kept stari

Mateo's PovI landed on the floor with a thud. A loud oomph escaped my mouth, mysteriously the girl in my hand didn't shout, she was calm. Too calm. The smoke engulfed us till the extent we could not see anything at all. I raised my head to look at the twins and to my utmost shock they were both lying there, unconscious. I am just so dead. I quickly retrieved my phone from my pocket, dialing Mathew's number. And as soon as he picked the call, I yelled. “ Get the ambulance and run down to the attorney's villa immediately!” My voice, loud. I shielded Rose with my body. A low groan escaped my lips. Why did I even volunteer to take her children in? Now I am in a tight spot? I almost lost my life because of an insane decision. I could just stare helplessly as the flames engulfed the building, I watched sadly. But there was something I didn't understand, who is the other person targeting her? Who wanted her dead? My mind raced with multiple questions. Questions I didn't even have an an

Mateo's PovI smirked, retracting my hands into my pocket as I made my way out of the police station. I turned to look at the whole station again. And reminded myself about my success today. I thought it would be hard to crack, but it came off easily. I was so wowed. I turned back heading towards my car. Now, I was certain Serena would not chase my case anymore, in return I took her kids into custody. As soon as I got into the Lamborghini, I drove straight to her home, the familiar home that she lives in to send that useless threat to me every morning. Like I was a toy…As soon as I got to her villa, I got out of my car, raising my head to spare the villa a glance. At last, I got to step foot in this house. “ Stupid attorney,” I mumbled to myself, staring at the white building in front of me. Almost immediately, I slammed the car door. As I make my way towards the brown oak door. It was one of a kind, wow. This lady is richer than I thought. She is living life. I raised my hand r
