Chapter three

ALEXA'S POV.

It was late at night, and luckily for me, this night will be the last I'll spend in this hospital. I so can't wait to go back home in the...in the warm arms of......

I looked at him, as he was focused on whatever he was doing on his phone.

I can't help, but feel like I'm the only one feeling this way toward him. Our afternoon misunderstanding was still clear in my memories.

"You know I can tell you're staring, right?" He hinted without looking at me.

I just sighed. "Of course."

He dropped his phone on the bed where I sat and looked at me. "Look, you've got something to say, say it, but it shouldn't be about my dad, and me."

I nodded. "Yeah, you made that pretty clear."

He paled. "I'm really...."

"I know, and I'm not angry," I assured him.

"But you've got something to say." He observed studying me.

I nodded. "Yeah."

"OK. Shoot." He shrugged.

I let out a shaky breath thanks to the nervousness that suddenly engulfed me, but it won't stop me. "Um, I wanna ask if you...."

The door opening interrupted me. My eyes brightened as I saw Emily. She smiled at me and entered. Behind her was Phoebe who locked the door.

"I see you at last," I uttered in surprise.

She just smiled.

"Shocking you guys came together." Leo pointed out.

Emily looked at him. "Well, she's awake now, isn't she?"

Leo just nodded. "Whatever." Then he stood up.

"You're going out?" I asked, surprised by why he stood up.

He shook his head. "I'll be around. I should leave you and your friends alone. Just let me know when they're gone."

Phoebe just rolled her eyes.

I nodded. "OK."

He smiled and walked out.

God help me, 'cause I so don't like what is going on around me.

My friends here are a problem because they think my husband could be up to no good, and my husband obviously knows what they feel about him. He's not stupid.

There are many spites around me, and it's sickening.

"It's a good thing he left." Emily gloated.

I raised a brow. "Really?"

She shook her head. "Chill. Not the way you think. I wasn't gloating."

I scoffed. "You managed to get my husband out of the room, you know that, right?"

She sighed. "I know, and I apologize, but don't worry. Things will turn out for the better. I was only happy he left because the three of us are alone."

"Yeah. It's been a long since you were hospitalized." Phoebe interjected.

I suddenly felt pity. "I guess."

"Congrats, though." Emily chimed in.

I smiled. "Thanks."

"Of course, we are the godmothers." She went on.

"Can it have two godmothers?" Phoebe asked with furrowed brows.

"Well, my baby will." I declared.

"Good." She commented.

Emily sat where Leo was sitting, while Phoebe took another, and sat down close to the bed.

"Throughout the month I was here, did I miss anything?" I asked.

Emily sighed. "There's nothing to miss. Everything is safe. Nothing serious happened."

I nodded. "And your jobs?"

"It's fine. We're all working hard. Dreams are hard to pursue after all." Phoebe responded.

I nodded again in understanding of what they meant by dreams. I have mine too, but I'm just working hard to fulfill my parent's own which at the main time, my godfather is helping to manage.

He told me I can leave him to manage my company, and go fulfill my own dreams, but I feel guilty just thinking about it. I feel like the only thing I should be doing is taking care of the company.

That was what I went to school for. I can't turn my back on it.

"Thinking of your company?" Emily noticed.

I nodded. "Yeah. I know it's doing fine with my godfather, but....."

"It's not right." She completed. "It's your company. You should be the one handling it."

I sighed.

"Although, for now, you shouldn't, since you're pregnant, and...."

"Pregnancy shouldn't stop her from handling her company.". Emily attacked Phoebe.

Phoebe looked at her. "You of all people should understand, Em." She said raising a brow at her. Emily did the same like they were having some kind of encrypted message. Like they were talking in code.

Emily's eyes widened insinuating that she understood which is beginning to make me confuse. "Oh. Yeah."

Emily looked at me. "Yeah. Phoebe is right. You should leave it at the hands of your godfather for now, til you give birth. You don't want too much stress."

I furrowed my brows at their weird attitude, but couldn't find a word to say, or an explanation to give myself.

"You understand, right?" Phoebe asked.

I nodded absentmindedly. "Y..yeah. I think so, but you guys aren't keeping anything away from me, right?" I asked since I was beginning to feel they were.

They both suddenly shook their head.

"Of course not, Alex," Emily responded.

I nodded still unsure. "OK."

"We just think you should just take a breather for now. I mean, you were handling it before you got married. After giving birth, you can go back to it." Phoebe told me.

I sighed. "Don't even know about that. I don't want a nanny for my child."

They both nodded.

"Yeah, we figured," Emily stated.

"You've always liked doing things by yourself even with all the money you have access to." Phoebe pointed out the obvious.

I just shrugged. "I'm just scared that if I had a nanny to take care of my child, they'll brag about knowing my child more than me."

They nodded again.

"True. Your child might even love the nanny more than you." Emily stated.

I frowned. "I really don't want that."

"We understand," Phoebe said with a smile.

"Although, quick question." Emily suddenly said.

I furrowed my brows. "OK."

"You've always said Leonard is no problem, but now are you beginning to feel something for him? Like love?"

I raised a brow. Wow. She went straight to the point.

"Um,...." I began. "I...I think so. He hasn't given me a reason not to love him." I confessed.

"Does he feel the same towards you?" Phoebe asked.

I shook my head. "Don't know. I didn't tell you guys this, but he had a girlfriend which I fear he's still hung over."

Their eyes both widened, and they glanced at each other.

"He had a girlfriend?" Phoebe asked in surprise.

I sighed. "That shouldn't be too surprising."

"Did he tell you that?" Emily asked.

I shook my head. "No. I do know that Leonard wants to be done with her because by mistake, I read their chats. She kept disturbing me, but I think Leonard blocked her because I stopped seeing messages from her."

"Wow." Phoebe gasped.

I nodded. "Yeah."

"And you think he still likes her?" Emily asked.

I shrugged. "Don't know. That's just how I feel. I'm probably overthinking it."

She nodded. "Yeah, you are. Probably. If he's done with her, then he doesn't love her anymore."

I equally nodded.

"Sad to say, but I think he already made a decision to completely settle for you." Phoebe made known.

I smiled. "Right?"

She nodded. "Sad to say."

I was happy at the thought. It means he probably likes me that much.

"I think we should go, though, so he doesn't wait too much." Emily considered.

I nodded. "Yeah."

"We'll see when we see, then." Phoebe emitted.

They both stood up.

"Thanks for coming." I appreciated.

They both nodded. I took my phone and called Leonard as they both left the room.

After two rings.

"Are they gone?"

I sighed. Wow. "Yeah, they are."

"Alright. I'll be there." He hung up.

I dropped my phone on the bed and rubbed my head in exasperation.

I'm suddenly tired, and I don't know why.

I lay on the bed covering myself, as the door opened.

"You really didn't go far." I noticed.

He forced a smile. "Why? Were you doubting?"

I mentally shook my head, and looked away from him, though I honestly thought I shook my head.

He walked closer to me and sat on the bed I comfortably lie on facing me. He's right now beginning to make me feel uncomfortable.

He turned my face to look at him. "You look worn out."

I shook my head. "It's nothing."

He placed his left hand on my right-hand side of the bed and leaned closer to me til we were face to face with only our noses distancing it.

My heart skipped a beat for some reason, as he was too close. Our bodies pressed together heatedly against the bed with our breaths coming out heavily.

"You want me to stay here with you?" He asked.

"If you can." I bit my lip. The smell of him was hypnotic without cause, and I was beginning to want to kiss him.

"If I can, or if I wanna?" He asked caressing my hair with his right hand which made sparks ignite within me.

"One of both," I responded, beginning to feel teased.

He slowly nodded, and then, he gently pressed his lips against mine and I was quick to respond. His lips were warm and soft, and they parted slightly giving way for my tongue to slip inside.

I wrapped my hand around his neck while his both hands held my waist, as our lips, and tongues kept moving in sync. I could feel the thud of our combined heartbeat, as we breathed each other in.

A phone ringing made him pull away from the kiss. I suddenly let out a huge breath, although sad about the disturbance.

He rose, giving a little distance, brought his phone out of his pocket, and saw the caller ID.

His frown made me know who was calling, but he just dropped it.

"Won't you...."

"Please." He pleaded.

I just nodded.

"I'll just call him tomorrow. It's late. If it's important, he'll text me." He explained.

I felt really good about the fact that he was even giving me an explanation, and I nodded with a slight smile.

He equally nodded, but then he looked down at me, and I would have thought he was looking at my breasts, but it doesn't look like he is.

My thoughts were confirmed when he placed his left hand on my stomach, rubbing it as he feels my baby bump. I felt a tingling sensation just by that, especially since he hasn't done it since the discovery. It felt good.

I didn't know what was going on in his mind, but he was definitely thinking something, but not saying anything.

"It's growing you know?" I informed him. I noticed that I was already showing earlier today.

He nodded. "I can feel it."

I just smiled.

A huge sigh came out of him, and he looked at me. "You should rest. You should sleep."

I nodded. "Yeah."

He removed his hand and completely rose up off me. "I'll be here when you need me."

He stood up and sat on the chair.

"It doesn't seem comfortable."

He shook his head. "It isn't."

"Can't you lie with me?" I asked expectedly.

"I'll feel uncomfortable."

I raised a brow. "But you don't feel that way as far as I know."

He nodded. "I just fear you might push me off the bed."

My eyes gaped widely. "What? No, I won't."

He just shrugged. "The bed isn't wide enough is what I'm saying. It's lacking space, and you might feel suffocated."

I don't feel suffocated by him. I feel warmth. But then, it's because he cares.

"Don't worry, I'm here." He assured me.

I just smiled. I don't know what to say anymore.
