Chapter 3 - The Marriage Issue

Damien opened the door to his father's ward and entered the room which his father was in. Inside the room he saw his father laying on the bed with some tube-like stuff connected to some parts of his body and his mom sitting besides him on a chair her eyes were also red from all the crying she must have done earlier before he came.

He went besides his mom and asked if she was alright, after getting a positive answer from her, he went over to the other side of the bed and sat besides his Father.

"Father how're you feeling now" damien asked while touching his father's forehead trying to feel his temperature.

"Well, i don't really have a direct answer to that question of yours seeing as i am

not in a good condition at the moment, but you I'm definitely feeling better than i was few hours ago. Now let's forget about all this ill health talk and focus on the matter at hand. So how have you been and how's the company affairs going."

"I'm fine, well its been stressful handling everything all by myself but I'm slowly getting used to it."

"You should get used to it very fast son because you'll be taking over completely very soon and i won't be there to always oversee everything."

"No dad don't say that, you'll always be there because I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the matters of the company alone without you or any one's help."

"No Damien, you won't be needing my help anymore when you fully become yje CEO because you'll have your wife's help."

"Wife?! What do you mean by wife's help."

"Yes damien you have to get married first before you become the CEO so there will be someone to help you along. You know what condition I'm in and i don't have that long to live so i want to be assured that this company will have a future heir and i also want to witness your marriage ceremony and hopefully see my grandchildren before i dies."

"Yes dad hopefully I'll be getting married very soon to Mr felix daughter, you know we were betrothed to each other right? So if I'm to get married it definitely has to be her because she's the one that I love, father."

"Yes damien i know that, i know that you've always loved joan right from when she was born, so i spoke to her father and you guys are getting married in 10 days"

"10 days?! Dad isn't 10 days too soon for the marriage i hope we are not rushing her or her family."

"No damien they will definitely understand the reason for the rush of the marriage, and by the way you guys were already betrothed and meant to get married eventually so there shouldn't be any reason for delay since you're ready to get married."

"But dad what if she isn't ready for the marriage, I don't want to rush her into anything. Although i also want to get married to her now but if it's for her sake then I'll wait."

"Don't worry damien I'm sure she is just as ready a you are. On your wedding day after the ceremony is over you'll sign the papers needed and you'll officially become the head of our business/company and also the CEO."

" Well okay that's acceptable."

"Yes it is so start preparing for the wedding."

"Yes i will father. I have to get going now

I have some unfinished work at the office, I'll come see you later okay?."

"Okay dear I'm looking forward to the wedding"

"Yes dad" Damien said while smiling. He also bid his mom goodbye and left.
