Chapter 2: How Will This Day Go?
Alpha King Caspian's POV:
I was not exactly sure how this day was going to go but I knew we were going to be traveling to the Blue Moon Pack to check on things and see how things were progressing there. Every so often, I travel to the different packs that are under my command and make sure that they have everything that they need. These visits seemed to be a bit mundane and dull, but they were necessary for the well-being and security of everything around me and our nation. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, looking at it to check the time, when I heard a knock at my door as it opened slightly.
"Yes, what is it?" I asked without looking up to see who was coming through the door.
'Are you not even going to look up and see who is coming in?' (Cash asked me.)
"Are you ready to go?" Maxwell, my Beta, said as he came into the room after knocking and speaking up without waiting for me to look up at him. "Everyone is out front and awaiting your orders, Your Highness."
'Does that answer your question?' (I responded to Cash.)
"Alright then," I said as I placed my phone back in my pocket and rose from sitting at my desk with my hands resting on the front edge of the desk. Before I walked around the desk, I popped my hands on the edge as a statement to Cash and one he did not care for and then I smirked at his response.
'Hmph' (Cash responded sarcastically.)
I walked around my desk and out the door of my office first as Maxwell started to follow me, closing my door behind him. When we were out front, five vehicles were running and ready to go. All of my Warriors were standing beside the vehicles they were going to be traveling in. When I walked out of the main entrance of the castle, they all turned to face me and Maxwell. When I reached the top step, I stopped walking as I watched them all turn and stand at attention, as Maxwell walked up to me to stand on my right side and looked out over the stairs just as I did. Without saying anything, I proceeded down the stairs and headed for the front vehicle. Maxwell walked past me swiftly so that he could open up my door. I climbed in and he closed the door after me. He then went around to the other side and got in the same vehicle as I did, then we were headed on our way.
Before too long, we arrived just outside of the border of the pack we were visiting first. The vehicles were parked out of sight and we started traveling toward the border. When we got close enough to where we should be stopped, I noticed that there was no one to be seen. This was a bit odd, I thought to myself. Where were the Warriors who were supposed to watch the border? We all continued walking past the border and still did not run into anyone until we reached the main castle entrance. That was when I saw a landscaper trimming the hedge around the entrance of the castle. It was obvious that he was not even paying attention to a group walking up behind him. Maxwell was about to reach over to him when I noticed that he had buds in his ears.
'Are you going to scare this one?' (Cash asked.)
'Leave this one be,' (I said via Mind Link to Maxwell, then I said to the rest of them via a direct Mind Link.) 'He can not hear us anyway, he is listening to music or something else.'
'Damn, I was looking forward to a decent reaction this time. It's not that often I get a good laugh.' (Cash answered disappointedly.)
'We have to figure out why no one is doing their job first. This is serious, Cash. We can do that later.'
We all continued walking past him and up to the door. Maxwell reached the handle and it opened with no trouble, as if it was not even locked in the first place. Where was the door guard? What is going on here? I was truly confused as to where everyone was. Did no one know that I was coming to see their pack today? I knew that I had come a whole lot earlier in the day than I told them I was going to, but that is beside the point. They should still be ready to have a visitor at any time of day or night. That was one of the main sets of rules. So the fact that no one is at their post means that someone is seriously slacking around here and I am definitely going to be getting to the bottom of it. Once we all walked inside, there was nothing to be heard. Something surely didn't seem to be right.
'Does it seem a bit too quiet to you?' (Cash asked.)
'Be on guard, something is not right as no one is where they are supposed to be,' (I said via Mind Link.)
'Yes, Your Highness,' (I heard the group respond almost at the same time.)
'Do you smell that? It smells like cinnamon and brown sugar. Are they making dessert?' (Cash asked.)
'It's time for breakfast, Cash. It's way too early for dessert.'
'Then what is that faint yet ever so appetizing scent that is floating in the air?'
I was not sure what it was, but I was going to find out, as this scent was definitely coming from down the hall, in the same direction as the dining hall. I walked out of the foyer and down the corridor, heading toward the dining hall. When I reached the dining hall, I walked in and there was no one there either. Other scents were coming from the next room where the kitchen was located. I smelled eggs and bacon, biscuits, and freshly squeezed orange juice. So, at least I knew that someone was at least cooking, so one job was being done, but that did not explain why no one else was doing theirs. Just then, I heard someone coming down the hall, and then I turned around to look to see a woman entering the room from a separate hall for the staff.
"When will the meal be served?" I asked as she did not expect to see me standing there and it was apparent that she did not know that I had already arrived. When she finally saw me, she stopped walking and froze in her tracks. I then continued asking as her shock was showing all over her face. "After we eat we can then discuss business."
"Promptly, Your... Your Highness," she said as she stuttered a bit as she bowed after my last statement.
"What is it that we are having for dessert?" I made sure to ask to amuse my wolf, who asked about dessert.
"My apologies, Your Highness," she said, then she paused a moment before continuing. "We have not started preparing dessert just yet. However, we are preparing cinnamon rolls, Your Highness. When we do prepare dessert, I will let you know what the selection is, unless you have a suggestion."
'That scent is not cinnamon rolls. If they're not making dessert, where is the scent coming from? Follow it!' (Cash insisted)
I turned toward her without saying anything else and walked right past her, right outside the door she had just come in a few moments before. I started walking down the hall following the scent that certainly led away from the kitchen. Where was this scent coming from and what could it mean? She swiftly walked out of the dining hall and into the hallway, trying to catch up with me. She walked up behind me and tried to gain my attention, but I was not going to stop and discuss anything with her.
'Maxwell, you need to get here now!' (I said via Mind Link.)
'Promptly, Your Highness.' (He responded.)
"Your Highness, is there something that I can help you find?" She finally asked me after following me for a moment.
'Ignore her, she is trying to hide something from you.'
'I know Cash. That is not all that hard to figure out.'
I continued walking down the corridor till I got to the end where there were two sets of stairs. She was right there with me, and to be honest, I did not care how close she was walking to me. This was not the first time someone followed me and was a bit too close to my comfort. When I reached the end of the corridor, I stopped walking as I noticed one set of stairs going up and then another set of stairs leading downward and around a corner. The scent was definitely coming from downstairs. She walked around me and stood on the next step that led to the upstairs area and then said something she would not easily forget it. However, the question is, what is she going to do after I walk away?
Chapter 3: A Strange Tantalizing SmellAlpha King Caspian's POV:"Your Highness, if you would kindly follow me," said the woman, trying once again to gain my attention away from the intended direction I had planned on traveling. "Our Alpha is in his study if you would follow me to go and speak with him. We can start the business conversation early until breakfast is ready."I looked over at her and slightly squinted my eyes a bit. Then, I suddenly moved toward the lower set of stairs. She did not seem all that pleased with the choice of my direction. Next thing, Maxwell finally reached the top of the stairs with four other Warriors, as he saw me start to walk down the stairs at a rather swift pace. She was right on my heels and closely followed by my Beta. I was not sure what I was looking for, but I knew I would know what it was when I found it. Once I got to the bottom level, there was a long and dark hall with minimal lighting. I do not recall it being like this the last time I was
Chapter 4: What's All The Commotion? Alpha Roland's POV: When I woke up this morning, I knew that it was going to be an extremely long day. However, what exactly it would entail would determine how this morning's meeting would go when the time came. I knew that His Highness Himself would be visiting and we would have a business meeting right after breakfast. Well, that was the plan, or so I thought it was made originally. At least I was assuming that He would show up for breakfast. He would usually set a time and then He would be extremely late due to an unseen circumstance that would happen in another sector of our vast Kingdom. There was more than one werewolf pack out here as I was the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack. However, despite not knowing all the particulars about the minuscule details, I got up quickly and prepared myself, and headed out of my room to check on the various things that I checked first thing in the morning. After that, I usually went to my study, but this parti
Chapter 5: Not What I ExpectedAlpha Roland's POV:This is not exactly what I expected on the day the Alpha King was supposed to show up. Here I am, trying to get ready for the business meeting that is going to take place later on. Now, I am having to investigate some random quarrel in the dungeon. Only when I got there, that is not what appeared to be going on at all. Someone's going to pay for this mistake, but who?'I am not exactly sure. They are noisy at times, but this is a bit extreme for random rough-housing.' (I mentioned.)So I decided to go to the door and open it to listen. I stayed still a moment and listened intently to see if I could tell if anything was out of place. I didn’t hear anything at first, so I continued to stand there listening intently for a few more moments. That’s when I heard something that I did not expect. I walked out into the hall and closed the door behind me and I headed toward the staircase that led down to the lower corridor. When I got to the bas
Chapter 6: Will She Ever Wake Up? Alpha King Caspian's POV: If I had to say so to myself, I had a whole lot going through my mind as we were driving swiftly toward the Imperial Clinic. On the one hand, I was highly pissed off about the condition I had found my new Mate to be in. I wanted to make sure the ones responsible for this would certainly pay for going overboard on the punishment. The fact that they deemed that much force necessary according to the crime she committed by disrespecting the other members of the house?! That made absolutely no sense to me to receive that much force, as the one pack member described to me prior to me releasing her from her bound position. Then, on the other hand, I did not want to lose her due to not knowing about her situation sooner than I had learned about it today. I knew I have previously taught my packs to punish those who were guilty, but I also ensured in those teachings to make sure the punishments fit the crime in those instances. From
Chapter 7: How Much Longer?Alpha King Caspian's POV:"I will be swift in my examination yet thorough," she stated as she was standing there in front of me beside the bed. "I will call you back in when I am finished."I could not shake the feeling that my mind was spinning. I did not know how to react to what was going on right now. Without another word, I turned and headed toward the door. I could not help the growl that was emitting from my throat as I walked out and closed the door behind me. I wasn't sure as to the extent of her injuries but I knew that they were not good, as to how I originally found her earlier that morning. I didn't know what to think next, so I started to pace back and forth in the hallway. It did not seem to be all that busy that morning, so there were not a lot of people walking in the hallway other than the other Aides who were working that morning. As I continued to pace up and down the hall, I would look over at my Beta who was standing guard at the entran
Chapter 8: What Trick Is This?! Maisie's POV: I was not exactly sure what to think about all of this that was going on currently. I know I deserve to be punished for failing to do my duty, but this was the first time they went this far and to such an extreme. I must have really upset my mother to make her have Master do what he did. Well, I guess in the end, I did deserve it. I always deserve what they give me in the form of punishment. I know that even sometimes when I do what they tell me, I still get punished if it is not done fast enough and to their liking. I do know if I said anything about it, I would certainly get taken care of more severely after the fact. As I thought about my punishment, it made me wonder if they even had someone else come to finish the job. Was that who came into the room before I completely lost sight of everything about what was going on? The absolute last thing I remember was how big He was, as there was no mistake in my mind that He was a very big ma
Chapter 9: He Really Scares Me! Maisie's POV: I once again tried to focus on the wires as I followed the wires with my eyes. They were connected to several different strange boxes that were hanging in the air with a metal pole that went through them. Was this what I was going to be punished with next? Was this the next kind of punishment I was about to get? I wake up in a room I have never been in before only to get punished by lightly colored boxes connected to wires?! What were these different strange boxes with wires anyway? Was this some kind of a trick I was being forced to endure on top of my punishment earlier? Or was my mother having the Master do this as a different form of punishment? Or could this somehow be the doing of whoever that big scary man was and had brought into the room? He really made me feel in my place. However, I remember when I tried to look at Him earlier in the presence of Master and my mother. When I looked at Him, He walked toward me. After that moment
Chapter 10: What Could The Reason Be?Alpha Roland's POV:As I entered the room in the dungeon, I noticed the door was broken and splintered. It was lying there on the floor in several large pieces. What happened in here?! Who in their right mind would destroy pack property and break the door off its hinges in such a manner?! The more I surveyed the damage, the more frustrated I became. As I continued to look around, frustration turned to fury. I added the fact that there were 3 other pack members, servants of all members, here, in this very room, trying to clean up the mess left behind. I was beyond furious about that part, but that was not the thing that was my concern most of all. I wanted answers about what happened previously. However, they were not even paying attention to the fact that I had even entered the room in the first place. How could they not notice their Alpha's presence? Were they not even afraid of my initial appearance? Or was there someone else they were expecting
