Mag-log inThunder echoed in the background as Selena stood there, watching Elijah throw her things out of the house.
It wasn’t raining yet, but the gloomy, thick clouds in the night sky were enough to let her know that it was about to pour. “Elijah, babe, wait,” she said, her heart thumping in her chest. Her throat had a knot in it, and her body was shaking from fear and adrenaline. “Please…can you just wait?!” she shouted, the maids and other workers looking at them. He stopped. “Selena, as much as I love you, it’s pretty clear that you don’t.” “I do!” she cried. He scoffed, shaking his head. “Be honest with me, Selena. For once in your life, be honest with me. Do you love me?” She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. How could she lie to him? “Exactly,” he said, running a hand through his hair. “I’m done. Leave.” Tears freely fell from her eyes. “Don’t do this to me. Don’t do this to me, please.” Her voice broke at the end. She made no attempt to wipe the tears away, too focused on what was happening. “You know the state of my family. You know that I’m an omega. If you leave me, everyone will see me as a reject, and no man will ever touch me again. Not even with a ten-foot pole.” “Well, you should have thought about that sooner.” Those were the last words he said before walking away. Selena tried to follow him, but one of the guards stopped her. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but you need to leave. Right now.” He touched her arm gently. She yanked it from his grasp, breathing heavily. “Or what?!” she shouted. “Or I’ll have to throw you out.” His voice was firm. “You have a minute to leave the mansion.” He was serious; it was obvious. Tears streamed down her face, and she still couldn’t believe this was happening. Everything felt like it was moving too fast. Considering how cruel she usually was to Elijah, tonight had been nothing compared to that. If anything, she had been humble and had even apologized. She had begged, and that was something she hated to do. What was she going to tell her mom? Her mother was going to be furious. And Lily, how would they afford her treatment now? She could die. Her mom barely made enough money from the hospital where she worked. It wasn’t that healthcare didn’t pay well in their town, it did. It was only because her mom was an omega, and omegas were automatically paid less. And even if Selena got a job, she wouldn’t be able to help much either. Her father? She barely knew anything about him. Her mother had told her when she was old enough to ask that he had been killed in the war and that she was never to ask or talk about him again. Selena had listened. So yes, she had truly messed up. Six months ago, meeting Elijah had felt like a dream. Their bond, crafted by the Moon Goddess, seemed magical. He was everything and more, and he had been a huge help to her and her family. Life had become easy, but after a month or two together, she realized she didn’t love him. She had tried, tried to love him or at least to pretend, but after four months, bitterness had crept in. She had treated Elijah terribly and always believed the Moon Goddess had made a mistake in bringing them together. But that was something she could never say aloud. Anyone who spoke ill of the Moon Goddess risked being stoned to death. “Ma’am, your one minute is up. Leave.” The guard’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. Her heart hurt and her chest felt tight, but she didn’t fight or argue. She turned and walked out of the mansion, certain Elijah would change his mind soon. He would calm down by morning, she told herself. All she needed to do was wait. But she couldn’t wait on the property, she knew that. So she grabbed her things, dragged them to the bus stop across the street, and sat down. She wiped her tears with the back of her hand, breathing heavily. As much as she wanted to call her mother, she knew it would be the worst possible idea. Her mother would kill her. “It’s all my fault,” she whispered, trying not to break down completely. Then it began to rain, making things worse. The temperature dropped, and the night became unbearable. She kept staring at the front gate, expecting the guard to come and get her, but that never happened. She waited for almost three hours before sleep finally took her. When she woke up, someone was tapping her shoulder. Her eyes fluttered open, and she yawned and stretched before realizing what was happening. It was her mother. “Mom?” she asked, sitting up, confused. Why was the woman here? “You are such a disappointment, Selena.” Her mother’s eyes were teary. “Are you finally happy? You don’t listen. You never listen. Now you’ve ruined everything!” Her voice broke. “I…I don’t know what you’re…Mom…” “Oh, stop playing dumb. He called me. Elijah called me. He said he’s done with you and that he’s going to publicly reject the bond between the two of you.” “No.” Selena shook her head and stood up. “I can do something. I can change his mind.” “Well, you better, because your sister is starting to get sick again. And the Moon Goddess knows my paycheck can’t help her.”Pain shot through Malek’s back as he was lying on the floor, trying to recover from the hit. He had not expected to hit, and for the beta to be so strong. The guy was just a beta, so how was he this f*cking strong? He sniffled dryly and looked up to see the beta walking towards him with tears streaking down his face. He looked devastated, as if he had nothing to lose anymore. Malek quickly rushed off the floor, rolling to the other side as a way to give him a few seconds to get up on his feet and gain his composure. And it worked. As soon as he was on his feet, he did not even have time to process what he was going to do next, and Leon was already attacking him again. “Damn, man. Stop this!” Malek tried to get the guy off him, but it was so hard. He had already killed Cassie, and god, he felt awful about it. He did not want to use his full strength and power to hurt the beta. The least he could do for the blonde girl, who was now gone, would be to show some grace to Leon. But he wa
“No,” Leon said the word as his heart dropped to his stomach. He could not believe what he had just seen. His brain was still trying to register it, trying to decide whether it was a hallucination or if it was real. He felt sick to his stomach, and it felt like time had frozen for a few seconds. It felt like he had been shoved out of time itself, and his soul was just…it was just there. Floating in nothingness. He had never felt this way in his life before. He did not even know what to name the feeling. The beta did not even try to fight back as Malek did what he was doing. He allowed the guy to pull him back, his eyes still trained on the body of the blonde girl. He did not resist; he just allowed whatever was happening to happen. He felt numb to the bone. His thoughts were racing, and his body went limp. But all that faded away when reality came crashing in so hard. It was like a slap in the face. It was like he had been hit by a moving train. He could physically feel the pain.
It was quiet. The light from the almost full moon almost filled the entire room, lighting it up. Malek stood there, his heart thundering in his chest as he stared at what he had done. He felt sick to his stomach, and his throat had a knot in it. It was not like this was the first time that he had ended a life. He had done it so many times…more than he could count. But this time, for some reason, it felt different. Had he really been in love with the blonde girl? Had he really wanted a future with her? Or was all of this just in his head? Oh, god… he wished that it were. He wished that the ugly feeling of guilt and disgust would leave him. But it stayed, making him fear that it might do so forever. He stared at her on the floor. She was not breathing anymore. She was just limp. Her eyes were closed, and she looked like she was sleeping, but he knew that she was not. He kept staring at her, his mind going so many miles per second. He started to overthink…maybe he could have forgiven
Cassie had never been so scared in her life. Her heart was pounding in her chest, and she felt like she could throw up at any second. On her knees, she kept looking up at the enraged guy, begging for his mercy…because honestly, at this point, this was all she could beg for. She watched him as he paced the room in anger. Maybe he was going to let her go. Obviously, she would be punished, but maybe she was going to get out of this alive. And that was her goal. Gosh, why had she even come back here? She swore to herself that if she were to get out of this, she was never going to come back here until the guy was handled by the omega. Malek was trying so hard; he was trying so hard not to do something that he would regret. But the more he paced, the angrier he got. The blonde girl could have ruined everything that he had worked hard to do…something that he had been planning for years. She needed to pay for what she had done. Letting the omega go was a huge setback for him, and he hated
In that moment, Cassie was insanely nervous. She wished that she were not, then maybe it would be easier to try to convince the guy that nothing was going on. But she could not control her nerves. She took a few steps closer to the open door, her heart pounding hard in her chest as she plastered a fake smile on her face. “Hey, baby,” She said softly. “Is everything okay?” The guy scoffed, then he calmly turned off the water that was running in the sink. After that, he dried his hands on his pants and started heading towards her. He barely acknowledged her; he just brushed past her and headed to the bedroom door, proceeding to lock it. She gulped, and she could feel tears filling her eyes, but she tried her best to keep her composure. All she needed was to stick to whatever story she was going to make up. “Malek…?” She called out to him again. “I know that you hear me. Why are you behaving this way?” Malek leaned his back on the door and finally locked eyes with her. “Where were yo
They were all now in the car, and Cassie was the one driving. Her heart was thudding in her chest, and she was honestly so worried. She knew that Malek was not a dumb or stupid guy, and she knew that he would notice her being away. Maybe she should have found an excuse for her absence before she had left, but she had not done that. And there was no going back in time to do that. Her phone kept buzzing, and she just knew that it was him trying to get to her without her looking at the screen. She really needed an excuse, or she would risk being killed by the guy. And gosh, she did not want to die. No one wanted to die, did they? Even though they would be tired of life and depressed, they really did not want to die; they just wanted things to get better. They just wanted to be happy, just like everyone else. Wasn’t that what everyone wanted? Happiness?Sighing, she decided to distract herself. She did not turn on the radio or stare at the passing scenery. She started a conversation wi
Sweating and tired from the training session, Selena was making her way back to the car. Axiel was right behind her, following her as well. Despite the whole thing about the confession of his love for her, the training went really well. If anything, it went even better today. And that was enough t
Selena stood by the door, trying so hard to process what she had just heard. She must have heard wrong, because what the actual f*ck? “Excuse me?” She said in a small chuckle. “What are you talking about?” The blonde girl was on her feet now. She sniffled dryly. “Please…you can not tell anyone. No
Selena opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, worried out of her mind as to what she was going to do next. She had no clue at all. Then the door made a sound, and someone walked in. The familiar cologne was enough to let her know who it was. She looked over and saw that it was Elijah. He made
Cassie was sitting in the passenger’s seat of the G-wagon, right next to the new hot guy she had just met. She was mesmerized by him.He was not only hot, but he was smart as well.
