LOGINThe words of the man echoed in her mind but all Selena was really concerned about was her sister. She could still hear the cries of her mom in her mind, and also the sound of the machine that was in the hospital.
Selena didn’t care whether the man believed that she wanted to hurt the Alpha or not, she was mostly worried about her sister, if anything were to happen to the girl, she knew it would all be her fault. If she would have just closed her mouth and pretend to love Elijah, all this wouldn’t have happened. This was all her fault, all because she couldn’t be grateful for what she had and wanted more. She knew she would never be able to forgive herself…never. “Are you not hearing a word I’m saying?” The man spoke, standing to his feet. He was wearing a uniform almost as if he was a guard, but he looked more important. More regal. So he probably was a beta or General. Or maybe both. Selena sniffled dryly, her heart twisting as she remembered how blue her sister had gotten. Tears burned her eyes and she just sat there. “Please…I don’t care what you do to me, I just…I just want her to be okay. Please tell me if my sister is okay?” She begged, the tears falling from her eyes freely now. The man’s firm expression soon broke and he sighed. “Look, omega, I don’t know how your sister is doing. But I can call the hospital and find out. Does that sound okay?” She nodded. “Thank you,” she mouthed, wiping at her face with the back of her hand. She watched him walk out of the room and that was when she broke down. More tears escaped her eyes, she felt like a million knives were being stabbed in her chest. She didn’t just feel sad about her sister, she felt sad and disgusted by how she had treated Elijah. The man was perfect and only wanted to be loved, yet she couldn’t even do something as simple as that. She also felt horrible because she knew without the man, she would lose it all. The mansion, the luxury living, the respect. She was going to lose it all. And if she could just turn the clock and make things right, she would. Gosh, she hated herself so much right now. Selena hated how she had ruined it all. Her mother would have to work more now even though the woman was getting older and more tired with each passing year. The door made a sound and she lifted her head and saw that it was the man in the uniform. He had a phone in his hand, and he handed it to her when he reached the bed. “Hello? Lily?” She asked. The person scoffed faintly and she immediately knew who it was. It was Elijah. “It’s me, Selena. I heard you were in an accident.” He sounded worried. This made her hopeful, maybe she could still fix things between them. Maybe. “Yeah, but I’m fine now. How is…how is Lily?” She was afraid to ask. She wanted to know the answer, but at the same time, she was scared to the bone to know it. “She died two times, Selena. But she’s fine now. We had to put her in a medical induced coma though, but it’s for the best.” “A coma?” Her voice broke, and so did her heart. “My god.” “Yeah,” he replied in a small voice. “The bills are incredibly high, especially because you guys don’t have insurance.” “Elijah, I’m sorry about earlier. Can we please fix things?” Selena was straight up crying now. “I swear, I will do better. I will do whatever you want, but please don’t leave me.” She sniffled, not even wiping the tears off her face. “Can we not do this? We’re done, Selena. We should have done this sooner. You don’t love me, you never did.” “I am begging you, Elijah. I am literally begging you,” she sobbed. “Look, you don’t have to worry about your sister. I will cover her bills and everything pertaining to her. But only if you leave me the hell alone. You have hurt me way too much and I need to…I just need to get over you, Selena.” She released a shaky breath, knowing that this was all her fault. She had taken an unique opportunity for granted. She had brought shame to herself and her family. But at least the stress of her little sister’s medical bills and treatment would be taken care of. A few seconds fell between them before she broke the silence. “It was never supposed to be like this. It wasn’t. All I wanted was to love you, and…” “Selena, I don’t need to hear it. Like I said, stay away from me.” With that, the call dropped. The omega swallowed hard and then handed the phone back to the man. “Thank you,” she said, forcing a smile even though she was dying on the inside. He took the device and pocketed it. Then he stood there for a few seconds before speaking, “There’s an investigation that has been launched into what happened on the road last night.” “Do you honestly think I wanted to hurt the Alpha?” He shrugged. “Maybe not. But based on that call with the pack’s most respectful doctor, it’s pretty clear you were suicidal. And whether that was the case or not, you put the life of our leader in danger. You have to be punished.” Selena closed her eyes and cried to herself, “this seriously can not be my life right now.” Then she opened them and looked back at the man. “So what’s the punishment?” The man cleared his throat and then replied, “Death.” The omega doubled back in disbelief and shock. “Wait, are you serious? It was a mistake!!” Fear started to fill her heart. “I didn’t even see his car, I swear on my life!!” “Listen, dear. Whether you saw the Alpha’s car or not, you still put his life in danger. And therefore you must be punished.” “And the only punishment is death? What happened to jail time?” At this point, she would prefer that. “The rules are not going to be changed. Not certainly for an omega.”Selena was cold, she was shivering because she was wet and because the winds were chilly as if they were in Antarctica. She reached for the doorbell, ringing it a few times as they waited. Then she decided to check on the beta, because she knew that if she was cold, that would mean that Leon would be freezing. Considering that he was shirtless. But when she looked at him, he seemed okay. That was the thing, he seemed okay, it didn’t mean that he was. He was not shaking as much as she was, and he was paying attention to the door, waiting for it to open. She was about to ask him if he was okay but then the door made a sound as it was being opened, stealing back her attention. She looked over and watched it open, revealing an older gentleman standing there with a look on his face that was quite hard to decipher. “How may I help you?” The man asked in a monotone. “Can we at least come inside? It’s freezing,” Leon said. The man nodded, opening the door wider and allowing them to walk i
The rain did not stop, and it was beyond dangerous to be driving in such weather like that, but they were. Leon was behind the steering wheel, shirtless and focused on trying not to crash into a tree or another car. But again, who would be stupid enough to be driving under such conditions? Who but them?Selena was sitting right next to him, her eyes trained on the road. As much as she wanted them to find Cassie, she also did not want to die or get hurt trying to find the girl. She was tempted to tell the beta that they could just turn and go back, letting whatever that was supposed to happen happen. But she kept it to herself and just stayed glued to her seat, her seatbelt on, of course. A flash of lightning lit up the road for a quick second, and the omega flinched, knowing exactly what was coming next, so she covered her ears and waited for it to pass. After a few more seconds, she removed her hands from her ears and sighed. She turned and looked over at the beta and asked, “How
The rain was so heavy. Even though the windows were closed, the sound was still like a million tiny bullets were being shot at the house. Selena was asleep, but she had set up a series of alarms on her phone to make sure that she would be able to check up on the blonde girl. Each one was supposed to start blaring individually after every one hour and thirty minutes. She had no idea when the first one was going to start ringing since sleep had mercilessly stolen her after ten minutes of setting up those alarms. But it felt like only five minutes had passed when she woke up to one of them finally screaming in her ear from her phone. When her eyes opened, she groaned, immediately regretting why she had chosen to do this. She knew that she was going to be so f*cked up in the morning, but she was already in too deep. There was no turning back. Right…?Right…?She sat up and grabbed the phone, turning the sound off before looking over at the blonde girl. Despite how annoying and loud her
Cassie seemed to be happy to hear what the omega had said. “Who’s Cat, and how can she help us?” She was tempted to start pacing the room, but felt a bit grounded after hearing that she could actually get some help. “She’s my friend, we met at the Moon festival,” Selena replied. “She’s a hybrid of a witch and werewolf. And she sees visions. She was the first one who saw that I was going to be the savior of the pack; the white-haired Luna.” “Oh…” The blonde girl nodded, taking the words in. “Do you think she would be able to come over right now?” “Cassie, it’s late. And there’s a storm brewing. You can literally hear the thunderclaps.” “And so? We can send a car for her.” She shrugged. “It’s not…it’s not that simple. She lives with her parents, and they are really strict when it comes to her. They don’t even know yet that she had seen that vision about me becoming the white-haired Luna.”“But can’t we, like, talk to them or something? I really need to know what happened last night
It was quiet…when the words of the blonde girl came out about asking who she had killed, it went dead silent. Selena did not know what to say, while Cassie was stuck in her mind. She was trying her best not to lose her mind, which she was already losing. This went on for about a full minute before a sob broke the quiet. Cassie released a shaky breath and locked eyes with the omega. “What if it were someone’s mom? Or it could have been someone’s dad…or even brother.” She looked away, tears falling freely from her eyes. “Oh my god,” She said under her breath. “Cassie, you need to stop overthinking.”“But…” “Just stop.” Selena was much firmer now. She felt like she needed to get this under control, or this was going to not only ruin the blonde girl, but it was going to affect her mental health a lot as well. Selena was the type of person who could easily be affected mentally by things and people around her. And yeah, this was kind of normal for everyone, but the thing here was that h
It did not take long for Selena and Leon to get back to the mansion. When they did, it was already nightfall. The moon was nowhere to be found, and even the stars were a bit hidden. There were white thin clouds floating up, and it was a bit cold. It looked like it could rain at any time. The car came to a stop, and the engine was killed. The beta removed his seatbelt, and silence filled the space as he turned and looked over at the omega for a few long seconds before speaking. “Are you okay…?” His voice was soft. “I know you have gone through a lot since you entered our lives, things that you were not expecting to go through. And I am so sorry.” He flashed her a sad smile. “But I swear, it’s not always like this.” He chuckled a bit. Selena smiled, her heart filled with enough anxiety to kill a small animal. “It’s fine. My life was kind of sh*t, to begin with. Even before I came into y’all’s lives, things were sh*tty for me. If anything, things may be a bit bad now, but they used to
