MasukThe words of the man echoed in her mind but all Selena was really concerned about was her sister. She could still hear the cries of her mom in her mind, and also the sound of the machine that was in the hospital.
Selena didn’t care whether the man believed that she wanted to hurt the Alpha or not, she was mostly worried about her sister, if anything were to happen to the girl, she knew it would all be her fault. If she would have just closed her mouth and pretend to love Elijah, all this wouldn’t have happened. This was all her fault, all because she couldn’t be grateful for what she had and wanted more. She knew she would never be able to forgive herself…never. “Are you not hearing a word I’m saying?” The man spoke, standing to his feet. He was wearing a uniform almost as if he was a guard, but he looked more important. More regal. So he probably was a beta or General. Or maybe both. Selena sniffled dryly, her heart twisting as she remembered how blue her sister had gotten. Tears burned her eyes and she just sat there. “Please…I don’t care what you do to me, I just…I just want her to be okay. Please tell me if my sister is okay?” She begged, the tears falling from her eyes freely now. The man’s firm expression soon broke and he sighed. “Look, omega, I don’t know how your sister is doing. But I can call the hospital and find out. Does that sound okay?” She nodded. “Thank you,” she mouthed, wiping at her face with the back of her hand. She watched him walk out of the room and that was when she broke down. More tears escaped her eyes, she felt like a million knives were being stabbed in her chest. She didn’t just feel sad about her sister, she felt sad and disgusted by how she had treated Elijah. The man was perfect and only wanted to be loved, yet she couldn’t even do something as simple as that. She also felt horrible because she knew without the man, she would lose it all. The mansion, the luxury living, the respect. She was going to lose it all. And if she could just turn the clock and make things right, she would. Gosh, she hated herself so much right now. Selena hated how she had ruined it all. Her mother would have to work more now even though the woman was getting older and more tired with each passing year. The door made a sound and she lifted her head and saw that it was the man in the uniform. He had a phone in his hand, and he handed it to her when he reached the bed. “Hello? Lily?” She asked. The person scoffed faintly and she immediately knew who it was. It was Elijah. “It’s me, Selena. I heard you were in an accident.” He sounded worried. This made her hopeful, maybe she could still fix things between them. Maybe. “Yeah, but I’m fine now. How is…how is Lily?” She was afraid to ask. She wanted to know the answer, but at the same time, she was scared to the bone to know it. “She died two times, Selena. But she’s fine now. We had to put her in a medical induced coma though, but it’s for the best.” “A coma?” Her voice broke, and so did her heart. “My god.” “Yeah,” he replied in a small voice. “The bills are incredibly high, especially because you guys don’t have insurance.” “Elijah, I’m sorry about earlier. Can we please fix things?” Selena was straight up crying now. “I swear, I will do better. I will do whatever you want, but please don’t leave me.” She sniffled, not even wiping the tears off her face. “Can we not do this? We’re done, Selena. We should have done this sooner. You don’t love me, you never did.” “I am begging you, Elijah. I am literally begging you,” she sobbed. “Look, you don’t have to worry about your sister. I will cover her bills and everything pertaining to her. But only if you leave me the hell alone. You have hurt me way too much and I need to…I just need to get over you, Selena.” She released a shaky breath, knowing that this was all her fault. She had taken an unique opportunity for granted. She had brought shame to herself and her family. But at least the stress of her little sister’s medical bills and treatment would be taken care of. A few seconds fell between them before she broke the silence. “It was never supposed to be like this. It wasn’t. All I wanted was to love you, and…” “Selena, I don’t need to hear it. Like I said, stay away from me.” With that, the call dropped. The omega swallowed hard and then handed the phone back to the man. “Thank you,” she said, forcing a smile even though she was dying on the inside. He took the device and pocketed it. Then he stood there for a few seconds before speaking, “There’s an investigation that has been launched into what happened on the road last night.” “Do you honestly think I wanted to hurt the Alpha?” He shrugged. “Maybe not. But based on that call with the pack’s most respectful doctor, it’s pretty clear you were suicidal. And whether that was the case or not, you put the life of our leader in danger. You have to be punished.” Selena closed her eyes and cried to herself, “this seriously can not be my life right now.” Then she opened them and looked back at the man. “So what’s the punishment?” The man cleared his throat and then replied, “Death.” The omega doubled back in disbelief and shock. “Wait, are you serious? It was a mistake!!” Fear started to fill her heart. “I didn’t even see his car, I swear on my life!!” “Listen, dear. Whether you saw the Alpha’s car or not, you still put his life in danger. And therefore you must be punished.” “And the only punishment is death? What happened to jail time?” At this point, she would prefer that. “The rules are not going to be changed. Not certainly for an omega.”It was harder to get out of the woods than Selena had thought. She kept walking, following the path, but at the end, she would reach a dead end. It would either be a river, and at the end of the path, there would just be no hint of the main road. She had no idea how to get out of there, and it annoyed her. Especially knowing that she did not have all the time in the world. The thought of her mother considering even pulling the plug when it came to her sister made her sick to her stomach. And she was so afraid that the woman would actually let that happen. Which was even more reason for her to get the hell out of here. How had she even made it here? She had no recollection of coming here. All she remembered was running as fast as she could away from the hospital and then waking up in the spirit world. Selena took another path, walking in the darkness, but at this point, her eyes had already adjusted. She was breathing heavily and felt so dirty from sweat and being in the open. Her b
The goddess helped Selena to her feet, and although she felt much better now. She still could feel as if the pain that was on her chest was still sitting there. But it was not actually there, it was just ghost pain.“We need to talk,” She said to the powerful entity. The Moon goddess could have taken any form, but she had chosen one that she felt would seem more pleasant in the eyes of the omega. She knew that her true form could kill the she-wolf. “Walk with me,” she said as she led the way.The more they walked, the more the environment changed. The scenery no longer belonged to a football stadium anymore, it was now a lovely field of wild flowers. The sky was perfect, and the sun was looking down at them while letting down a delicate kind of heat. It looked a day that any fairy tale book would describe. That’s how perfect it all was.But Selena knew that nothing really was. She knew that her life at the moment was beyond crappy. She knew that she was as depressed and wanted to give
Selena left the room with her heart feeling like it was being stabbed by a thousand knives at the same time. She felt nauseous; like throwing up but could not. She made her way back to her mom’s, in the room that she had left before she had gone over to her sister’s. When back, she saw that the woman was not alone. A nurse was there with her and she had some papers in her hand, and a pen.“Wait, what are you doing?” Selena asked, her heart clenching at the thought of what may have been happening. “Selena…” the woman looked up at her and they locked eyes. Tears made her eyes look glossy, and when she spoke, her voice was shaky. “They just told me that I could sign these, and Lily would be taken off the machines. She’s not there anymore, baby. She’s already gone.”“She’s right, ma’am. Your sister is long gone. It’s just a body that’s being kept alive by those machines,” the nurse joined the conversation. “She can be a help to people who need organs. She can be an organ donor.”“I swea
Selena was taken to the room her sister was in. She wished her mom would have come with her, but the woman explained that she couldn’t bear looking at the little girl at the moment; that maybe later, but just not right now.The omega understood, though. She could not imagine how hard this must have been for her mother. And she only wished she knew how to fix this. But the truth was that she didn’t.She walked into the room and closed the door once she was inside. Alone with the girl, the beeps of the machine connected to her was all that Selena could hear. She was used to hearing this machine, considering the little girl had spent most of her years in hospital rooms. It still did not make it right that Lily had to lose her life. She made her way towards the bed, her heart so heavy and breathing labored. She sat next to the girl, and it looked like Lily was only sleeping. It didn’t look like she was brain dead or anything. She looked just fine. Her skin was not pale or anything like t
Selena felt like her feet had been cemented to the floor of the lobby as she stood there. Everyone was staring in the direction of the woman crying, including her.At first, she could not see her mother. And even though she knew very well that it was the woman that was wailing, she wanted to believe otherwise. So she just waited, silently praying that another woman would walk from down the hallway. So yeah, she stood there…just waiting with bated breath as her heart raced in her chest. Then she finally saw what she was waiting for, she saw the woman being escorted in a comforting way by a nurse. And yes, it was definitely her mother. In that moment, she felt something warm slide down her face, and it was almost as if it was what was needed to free her feet from the floor. She rushed towards them and as soon as her mother saw her, the woman let go of the nurses and hugged her tightly, continuing to cry at the top of her lungs. The omega hugged her back, her heart still thumping in he
Back at home, Selena was alone in her room. The beta had tried to get her to get out so they could try to figure out what they were going to do next, but she was not having it.She just wanted to be alone. She just wanted to shut the world and everything out for a few hours. She just wanted to be able to wrap her head around everything that was happening. She has had heavy hearts before. In fact, there were more times than she could when her heart would be so heavy. But this time…it was much different. This time, she felt like the weight of everything in the entire universe was sitting right on her chest, stealing away her breath every few seconds. And she knew it would be just a matter of time until she would die.“He’s really dead,” she said to herself, sitting on the cold floor in the dark room. Her phone was not far from her, and it had been ringing for a while now. But she just could not bring herself to pick it up.She felt detached from reality. She felt alone. She felt defea
It felt like it was a dream, if he was being honest. Maddox stood there, looking at his mother. In that moment, all the anger and rage disappeared; locked away in his part of his mind to be used later. “Maddox,” The woman said, tears streaming down her face as she rushed towards him, pulling him i
Maddox still wanted to be pissed; he needed a place for those emotions to go. But truthfully, after hearing what his mom had explained, he sort understood why the woman never came back to the pack. “You could have at least had someone bring me to you.” His voice was soft and filled with sadness. H
Selena walked into the room, holding her breath. She did allow her mom to be the first to walk in, though. Her eyes soon fell on her sister, and her heart immediately sank. The girl looked so…so sick. She had lost so much weight, and her skin was pale as if she was a ghost. That was not how she h
Cassie stared at the guy, trying to wrap her head around what she had just heard him explain. “How is that even possible?”“I don’t f*cking know!” He snapped. “I don’t!” He let out a shaky breath before cursing under his breath. Then he started pacing the room as if he was losing his mind, and mayb
