The words of the man echoed in her mind but all Selena was really concerned about was her sister. She could still hear the cries of her mom in her mind, and also the sound of the machine that was in the hospital.

Selena didn’t care whether the man believed that she wanted to hurt the Alpha or not, she was mostly worried about her sister, if anything were to happen to the girl, she knew it would all be her fault.

If she would have just closed her mouth and pretend to love Elijah, all this wouldn’t have happened. This was all her fault, all because she couldn’t be grateful for what she had and wanted more.

She knew she would never be able to forgive herself…never.

“Are you not hearing a word I’m saying?” The man spoke, standing to his feet. He was wearing a uniform almost as if he was a guard, but he looked more important. More regal. So he probably was a beta or General. Or maybe both.

Selena sniffled dryly, her heart twisting as she remembered how blue her sister had gotten. Tears burned her eyes and she just sat there. “Please…I don’t care what you do to me, I just…I just want her to be okay. Please tell me if my sister is okay?” She begged, the tears falling from her eyes freely now.

The man’s firm expression soon broke and he sighed. “Look, omega, I don’t know how your sister is doing. But I can call the hospital and find out. Does that sound okay?”

She nodded. “Thank you,” she mouthed, wiping at her face with the back of her hand. She watched him walk out of the room and that was when she broke down.

More tears escaped her eyes, she felt like a million knives were being stabbed in her chest. She didn’t just feel sad about her sister, she felt sad and disgusted by how she had treated Elijah.

The man was perfect and only wanted to be loved, yet she couldn’t even do something as simple as that.

She also felt horrible because she knew without the man, she would lose it all. The mansion, the luxury living, the respect. She was going to lose it all. And if she could just turn the clock and make things right, she would.

Gosh, she hated herself so much right now.

Selena hated how she had ruined it all. Her mother would have to work more now even though the woman was getting older and more tired with each passing year.

The door made a sound and she lifted her head and saw that it was the man in the uniform. He had a phone in his hand, and he handed it to her when he reached the bed.

“Hello? Lily?” She asked.

The person scoffed faintly and she immediately knew who it was. It was Elijah. “It’s me, Selena. I heard you were in an accident.” He sounded worried.

This made her hopeful, maybe she could still fix things between them. Maybe. “Yeah, but I’m fine now. How is…how is Lily?” She was afraid to ask. She wanted to know the answer, but at the same time, she was scared to the bone to know it.

“She died two times, Selena. But she’s fine now. We had to put her in a medical induced coma though, but it’s for the best.”

“A coma?” Her voice broke, and so did her heart. “My god.”

“Yeah,” he replied in a small voice. “The bills are incredibly high, especially because you guys don’t have insurance.”

“Elijah, I’m sorry about earlier. Can we please fix things?” Selena was straight up crying now. “I swear, I will do better. I will do whatever you want, but please don’t leave me.” She sniffled, not even wiping the tears off her face.

“Can we not do this? We’re done, Selena. We should have done this sooner. You don’t love me, you never did.”

“I am begging you, Elijah. I am literally begging you,” she sobbed.

“Look, you don’t have to worry about your sister. I will cover her bills and everything pertaining to her. But only if you leave me the hell alone. You have hurt me way too much and I need to…I just need to get over you, Selena.”

She released a shaky breath, knowing that this was all her fault. She had taken an unique opportunity for granted. She had brought shame to herself and her family. But at least the stress of her little sister’s medical bills and treatment would be taken care of.

A few seconds fell between them before she broke the silence. “It was never supposed to be like this. It wasn’t. All I wanted was to love you, and…”

“Selena, I don’t need to hear it. Like I said, stay away from me.” With that, the call dropped.

The omega swallowed hard and then handed the phone back to the man. “Thank you,” she said, forcing a smile even though she was dying on the inside.

He took the device and pocketed it. Then he stood there for a few seconds before speaking, “There’s an investigation that has been launched into what happened on the road last night.”

“Do you honestly think I wanted to hurt the Alpha?”

He shrugged. “Maybe not. But based on that call with the pack’s most respectful doctor, it’s pretty clear you were suicidal. And whether that was the case or not, you put the life of our leader in danger. You have to be punished.”

Selena closed her eyes and cried to herself, “this seriously can not be my life right now.” Then she opened them and looked back at the man. “So what’s the punishment?”

The man cleared his throat and then replied, “Death.”

The omega doubled back in disbelief and shock. “Wait, are you serious? It was a mistake!!” Fear started to fill her heart. “I didn’t even see his car, I swear on my life!!”

“Listen, dear. Whether you saw the Alpha’s car or not, you still put his life in danger. And therefore you must be punished.”

“And the only punishment is death? What happened to jail time?” At this point, she would prefer that.

“The rules are not going to be changed. Not certainly for an omega.”

  • The Moon Goddess’s Mistake    Chapter 141. Free-will

Selena did not know what to say in response. But she knew that the Moon goddess knew her mind and emotions, so there was no need to try to defend herself by lying. She did have anger and unforgiveness in her mind and heart. But could you blame her? How was she supposed to forgive a group of people who did not even apologize, a group of people who needed her to save them even though they did not deserve it? She did not want to save the pack, truthfully. Growing up as an omega in any pack was hard, but in this particular one, it felt like it was a curse. There were so many times when all she wanted to do was end it all. There were even times when she hated her mother, all because the woman brought her into this world as an omega. Not knowing her father at that time made it even worse. And one of the crazy things was that it was not like you could hide being an omega. Maybe if you could, that would have made things a bit easier. But you could not. Every werewolf had a scent, especial

  • The Moon Goddess’s Mistake    Chapter 140. Finding Sleep

The words of the alpha echoed in the omega’s ears over and over, and hearing them made her feel like she was levitating. She could not believe that he was saying them, and it made her panic a bit. She sniffled dryly as she took a step back. “I–”“You don’t have to say anything back,” He replied, his smile never leaving his lips. And gosh, the way he looked at her. It was clear that he meant the words he had said; that he really did love and care about her. She then watched him walk out of the room, leaving her alone once again. But the difference was that this time, she was hot for him. This time, she wanted his hands all over her body. Her love language was physical touch, so she could not stop playing in her head what had happened in the room just a few minutes ago. Gosh, she was so in love with him. Breathing out a shaky breath, she tried to get back into the real world. She needed sleep. She had a busy day ahead of her. And not just a busy one, but a very early one. Selena w

  • The Moon Goddess’s Mistake    Chapter 139. Shower As Therapy

Selena was in the back of the car with the alpha as Leon drove them back home. The alpha had already explained everything to them about Cassie’s case, and the omega could not help but feel so bad for her. But she had a feeling that what had happened went much deeper than what was being explained. Call it discernment, but that was just how she felt. And she was so tempted to listen to that feeling. They arrived back at the mansion, and the car came to a stop. She was told to get a good night's rest because she would be starting training tomorrow. Not just tomorrow, but at the very crack of dawn. The thought of waking up that early was annoying, and paired with the anxiety of it all, she just knew that she was not even going to have a good sleep tonight. She already knew that she was going to be staring at the ceiling for hours. But she had a plan, though. She would take a hot shower and then make some tea. That could help her sleep. Even if it was going to be just for four or three

  • The Moon Goddess’s Mistake    Chapter 138. Too Late

A conversation later, Cassie was left in the hospital room. She called Malek later to pick her up, and she was waiting for him. But she had already been discharged. What had she talked with the alpha about? Well, she had done this whole act, making sure that he bought into the lie that she had attempted, knowing very well that she would never do something like that. No matter how sh*tty her life would get, she knew that she was just not the kind of person to give up on living. She did not just have high pain tolerance when it came to physical pain, but also emotional and mental pain. But back to what she had talked about with the alpha, she had led him to believe that she was depressed and needed help. Not financial or anything, but help, as in she needed to stay close to them. She had told him about how she felt alone and that having a friend would help. I think we all know where this is going. She ended up telling him that since Selena was literally the only girl in the royal cir

  • The Moon Goddess’s Mistake    Chapter 137. Pain Tolerance

Cassie had never experienced a pain like this in her life, and this was saying much because she was the kind of girl who got really bad period cramps. As a teenager, she had been taken to the emergency room more than three times just because ot that. So yeah, she had become used to that kind of pain. But this time, the pain she was facing was beyond description. Yeah, she did not want to be a vampire, but that did not mean that she wanted to die. Maybe she should have never even gone over to Chad to drink that concoction that was obviously dangerous. Maybe she should have just accepted that she had been bitten and was going to turn into a vampire. But now, it was a bit too late for that. She was so scared. But she knew that she needed to get her phone and call the guy, or she was definitely going to die right here, next to a bathroom. Using all of her strength and everything she had, Cassie pushed herself up, hot tears running down her face. It was like her intestines were being t

  • The Moon Goddess’s Mistake    Chapter 136. Zero Empathy

As Selena walked away, her heart was racing, and tears burned her eyes. She was really triggered by all of this, and honestly, she wished she had not come. She knew that this was going to mess with her for a while. All she wanted from this guy was for him to be a better person, but no matter what, that just did not seem like it was going to happen any time soon. “Selena, wait!” He called after her as he chased her. When he reached her, he stepped in front of her, stopping her. “I know, I’m a piece of sh*t. I know that.” He sniffled, tears falling from his eyes freely. “I know that I have not treated you right, not at all. I know that what I did to your mother was insulting. And the truth is that I want to be sorry, but I’m not.” “Are you serious right now?” “No, hear me out,” He stopped her again when she tried to get away. “I’m not sorry, but I want to be sorry. I swear, I want to be.” He released a shaky breath. “I don’t think I have the ability to feel empathy, Selena. That’s j
