The words of the man echoed in her mind but all Selena was really concerned about was her sister. She could still hear the cries of her mom in her mind, and also the sound of the machine that was in the hospital.

Selena didn’t care whether the man believed that she wanted to hurt the Alpha or not, she was mostly worried about her sister, if anything were to happen to the girl, she knew it would all be her fault.

If she would have just closed her mouth and pretend to love Elijah, all this wouldn’t have happened. This was all her fault, all because she couldn’t be grateful for what she had and wanted more.

She knew she would never be able to forgive herself…never.

“Are you not hearing a word I’m saying?” The man spoke, standing to his feet. He was wearing a uniform almost as if he was a guard, but he looked more important. More regal. So he probably was a beta or General. Or maybe both.

Selena sniffled dryly, her heart twisting as she remembered how blue her sister had gotten. Tears burned her eyes and she just sat there. “Please…I don’t care what you do to me, I just…I just want her to be okay. Please tell me if my sister is okay?” She begged, the tears falling from her eyes freely now.

The man’s firm expression soon broke and he sighed. “Look, omega, I don’t know how your sister is doing. But I can call the hospital and find out. Does that sound okay?”

She nodded. “Thank you,” she mouthed, wiping at her face with the back of her hand. She watched him walk out of the room and that was when she broke down.

More tears escaped her eyes, she felt like a million knives were being stabbed in her chest. She didn’t just feel sad about her sister, she felt sad and disgusted by how she had treated Elijah.

The man was perfect and only wanted to be loved, yet she couldn’t even do something as simple as that.

She also felt horrible because she knew without the man, she would lose it all. The mansion, the luxury living, the respect. She was going to lose it all. And if she could just turn the clock and make things right, she would.

Gosh, she hated herself so much right now.

Selena hated how she had ruined it all. Her mother would have to work more now even though the woman was getting older and more tired with each passing year.

The door made a sound and she lifted her head and saw that it was the man in the uniform. He had a phone in his hand, and he handed it to her when he reached the bed.

“Hello? Lily?” She asked.

The person scoffed faintly and she immediately knew who it was. It was Elijah. “It’s me, Selena. I heard you were in an accident.” He sounded worried.

This made her hopeful, maybe she could still fix things between them. Maybe. “Yeah, but I’m fine now. How is…how is Lily?” She was afraid to ask. She wanted to know the answer, but at the same time, she was scared to the bone to know it.

“She died two times, Selena. But she’s fine now. We had to put her in a medical induced coma though, but it’s for the best.”

“A coma?” Her voice broke, and so did her heart. “My god.”

“Yeah,” he replied in a small voice. “The bills are incredibly high, especially because you guys don’t have insurance.”

“Elijah, I’m sorry about earlier. Can we please fix things?” Selena was straight up crying now. “I swear, I will do better. I will do whatever you want, but please don’t leave me.” She sniffled, not even wiping the tears off her face.

“Can we not do this? We’re done, Selena. We should have done this sooner. You don’t love me, you never did.”

“I am begging you, Elijah. I am literally begging you,” she sobbed.

“Look, you don’t have to worry about your sister. I will cover her bills and everything pertaining to her. But only if you leave me the hell alone. You have hurt me way too much and I need to…I just need to get over you, Selena.”

She released a shaky breath, knowing that this was all her fault. She had taken an unique opportunity for granted. She had brought shame to herself and her family. But at least the stress of her little sister’s medical bills and treatment would be taken care of.

A few seconds fell between them before she broke the silence. “It was never supposed to be like this. It wasn’t. All I wanted was to love you, and…”

“Selena, I don’t need to hear it. Like I said, stay away from me.” With that, the call dropped.

The omega swallowed hard and then handed the phone back to the man. “Thank you,” she said, forcing a smile even though she was dying on the inside.

He took the device and pocketed it. Then he stood there for a few seconds before speaking, “There’s an investigation that has been launched into what happened on the road last night.”

“Do you honestly think I wanted to hurt the Alpha?”

He shrugged. “Maybe not. But based on that call with the pack’s most respectful doctor, it’s pretty clear you were suicidal. And whether that was the case or not, you put the life of our leader in danger. You have to be punished.”

Selena closed her eyes and cried to herself, “this seriously can not be my life right now.” Then she opened them and looked back at the man. “So what’s the punishment?”

The man cleared his throat and then replied, “Death.”

The omega doubled back in disbelief and shock. “Wait, are you serious? It was a mistake!!” Fear started to fill her heart. “I didn’t even see his car, I swear on my life!!”

“Listen, dear. Whether you saw the Alpha’s car or not, you still put his life in danger. And therefore you must be punished.”

“And the only punishment is death? What happened to jail time?” At this point, she would prefer that.

“The rules are not going to be changed. Not certainly for an omega.”

Cassie was sitting in the passenger’s seat of the G-wagon, right next to the new hot guy she had just met. She was mesmerized by him.He was not only hot, but he was smart as well. His mannerisms were great and everything he did or say was just so attractive to her.“Malek,” she said his name. It felt good to roll it off her tongue, but for some reason, she felt like she had heard it before. She just couldn’t put her finger on where or when. “Yes, that’s my name.” He focused on the road, driving them further away from the hospital. “And yours is Cassandra, right?” The blonde girl was taken aback by this. “How—how do you know my name?” She asked, nervousness filling her. She glanced at the door and it was locked. The guy also started driving a bit faster now. He smirked when he felt her eyes on him. “Let’s just say that I have my ways.” He chuckled, keeping his eyes on the road. Cassie’s mind was racing, spinning and trying to calculate if she found a way to jump out of the moving c

It was dark, and it was cold. That was before Selena opened her eyes. When they were open, her vision started to clear up, her memory a bit fuzzy. It was no longer dark, but it was still cold. She looked around and soon found out that she was in a hospital room. Then her eyes fell on someone who was also in the room with her. She had thought she was alone. It was Elijah. “Look who’s awake,” he said, chuckling to himself. Her eyes fell on his bandaged hand and she looked back to his eyes. “Where am I? What happened?” Her memory was still here and there, nothing really solid. He walked over to her bed, a soft smile on his face. “You’re in the hospital, Selena. You were brought here by someone a few hours ago and you just underwent surgery.”“Surgery? What…?” Then it all started to come back to her. She started to remember everything. From the argument she had with the alpha to the blonde girl pretending to help her. “Cassie…” She said in a low tone while trying to sit up. When she w

  • The Moon Goddess’s Mistake    Chapter 89. Wolfbane

Wolfbane. The word had made Selena’s heart drop. She knew about this stuff, she learned about it in high school. It was illegal in most of the packs, including theirs. This was something that could kill a full grown werewolf in just a few minutes, sometimes even less, depending on the potency of the one used. And now the omega had just been told that Cassie had given her that to drink. “You’re trying to kill me?” The blonde girl swallowed hard before replying, “I was.” She sighed shakily. “But not anymore. That’s why I took the mug away from you.”“Cassie, I drank half of what was in the mug! And you watched me!”“I know, that’s why…” She walked past the omega and headed to the door, opening it. “That’s why we need to go to the hospital now. I want to save you.”“I…” “Can we please talk more when we’re actually at the hospital? Please? We don’t have much time.”Selena was hurt, but again, what did she expect from the blonde girl? She hated how she had been stupid enough to believe t

Cassie walked into the room and headed towards the bed, sitting on it. Then she watched the omega close the door before turning in her direction.“Why are you here?”“I uh, I heard you and Maddox arguing,” she began, still hugging the mug in her hand. “And considering what I did to you during training today, I felt bad. You’re going through a lot right now and I just…I feel like you need a friend.” She smiled. Sniffling and wiping her face with the back of her hand, the omega stared, a look of confusion in her eyes. “Um…okay, I guess. Thanks.”Cassie nodded weakly, handing the mug to the girl. “It’s chamomile tea, it helps with stress. I added a little extra something to help you sleep as well.”“A little extra something?” Suspicion laced her tone.“Honey.” The blonde girl stood to her feet. “Natural honey from our mountains. It’s quite expensive and hard to get.”Selena didn’t know what to think about this. Why was the girl suddenly being nice to her? It didn’t make any sense. Just

As Cassie opened the door before walking in, she could hear voices. It was like people were arguing. At first, she couldn’t figure out who the voices belonged to, but as she walked deeper into the house, she soon found out.It was the omega and the alpha. As for Selena, she had no clue that the blonde girl had returned. And frankly, she didn’t care. She was way too focused on the fact that the alpha was pissed at her because of the whole white-haired Luna thing.“I just don’t see the issue!” She shouted at him. “The issue is pretty clear, Selena. You’re the white-haired Luna and you didn’t tell me.” He was angry, but wasn’t shouting though. His tone was hard and mostly monotonous. It was like he was trying to hold himself back. “Are you serious? No, are you actually serious?”“I am!” He snapped. “I am! Gosh, Selena, I am!” He pulled on his hair in frustration before continuing. “You kept something that important a secret from me! This is something that could have helped us to be ab

Heart pounding, Cassie swallowed hard. “Are you sure? We haven’t heard from dad in a very long time.”“I’m f*cking sure, Cassandra.” The woman scoffed before taking a long sip of her wine and then turning away. She proceeded to walk, heading towards the living room. The blonde girl knew she had to follow, and that was what she did. She followed her mom into the living room and they sat down. “So what do we do?” She asked in a small voice as she played with her fingers nervously. “Do we…do we sell the house?”"God forbid, that’s never happening. What’s wrong with you?” Her mom seemed offended by the suggestion. The woman placed her wine glass on the coffee table before continuing, “If we sell this place, everyone will know. Everyone in this god-forsaken town will know we have fallen from our high horse. Our respect will be stripped from us.”Cassie nodded. That was true, and she didn’t want that either. “Okay.”“And don’t get me started on how we would have to move in a normal and poor
