LOGINThe man walked out of the room, leaving Selena alone. He said that the investigation would take three business days, and that no matter what, death would be her punishment.
The only reason for the investigation was to decide what kind of way she would be killed. The council would decide whether it was going to be slow, torturous and gruesome, or whether it was going to be just quick and merciful. Selena was beyond scared, she knew she had messed up and all she wanted to do right now was to make it right. But she didn’t think there could be any way to do that, so all she knew she had to do was to run. So the girl stood up from the bed and walked over to the door, placing her ear on it to make sure that no one was near. When she was sure, she walked away from it and headed to the window. She brushed the curtains to the side and opened the window. Her heart was thumping in her chest and she felt like she was going to have a heart attack, but she knew that if she didn’t leave, she would never be able to leave this place and would be killed in three days for a stupid mistake she had made. Once the window was open, Selena poked her head out and looked around. There was no one around there so she climbed out the window and took a deep breath before jumping down. She fell and her ankle twisted, paired with the pain from the accident, she almost screamed out. But she held it back. “F*ck!” She cried in her hand that she had used to cover her mouth. She was behind a bush, tears falling from her face freely as she tried to swallow the pain she was feeling. Then after a few minutes, she stood up, she was a she-wolf so she had fast healing. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t still in pain, it was just much more bearable now. It was night and most of the guards were focused at the front of the mansion so she used that to her advantage and snuck out at the back of the fence, climbing over it and jumping down. Once out, she heard someone yell, “Hey!!” She didn’t even attempt to look back, she started to run like her life depended on it. And it did. Selena ran and ran until she couldn’t do it anymore. She finally stopped, her breathing deep and heavy. She leaned over, holding her knees as she tried to stop herself from fainting. She was really sweating and her body ached from pain. She looked back and no one was following her, thankfully. She then stood upright and ran her hand through her hair. She needed to get home. She needed to get home and explain it all to her mom. There was no way her very own pack was going to kill her all because of a stupid mistake, right? Still breathing heavily, she started to walk towards her house. The neighborhood she was in right now was a bit of a distance from where her mom stayed. This was more of a suburban neighborhood, while where her mom stayed was commonly called the hood. It was where most omegas stayed. Selena didn’t care much about walking, she was barely thinking about it. It was like she was on auto pilot while she worried about the fact that her life was complete sh*t right now. When she reached home, she was drenched in sweat and tired. It was maybe past midnight, the full moon was up so her skin was itching like it usually did every full moon. She had no idea why, but she had dealt with this itching thing since she could remember. She had been taken to the hospital a couple of times in the past and they said it was nothing, and maybe psychological. “Mom?” She said as she knocked on the front door of the house. She was worried and paranoid, she kept looking over her shoulder but no one was watching or following her. “Mom?” She knocked on the door again, this time ringing the doorbell too. She was about to knock again when the door opened, her mom standing there. “Selena…” “Mom,” she said, her voice breaking as tears ran down her face. She closed the distance between them and hugged the woman, but it was one-sided though. Her mom didn’t hug her back. She pulled away and furrowed her brows in confusion. That was when her eyes strayed away for a few seconds and landed on her things by the staircase. “I’m so sorry, my love, but you have to find somewhere else to stay. It can’t be here,” her mom said, avoiding looking her in the eyes. “This has to be a joke, right?” Selena chuckled without humor. “Are you seriously kicking me out?” “I don’t have a choice, Selena.” The omega scoffed. “What do you mean by you don’t have a choice? You’re throwing your daughter out of your house when she has nowhere to go!” “It’s either you go and Elijah won’t help out with Lily. It’s the deal he made with me. Your sister needs this, you know this, Selena. She’s in an induced coma. I can’t handle the bills and cost of everything. Please understand,” the woman explained, trying to touch Selena but the girl flinched away. “Does he hate me that much? It’s not my fault, mom! It’s not my fault that I couldn’t love him!!” She snapped, her voice breaking. “Don’t raise your voice at me. Don’t make it seem like I’m the bad guy. I did everything right to raise you, I did my best. I don't even know who you are anymore. The daughter I raised would have never disrespected Elijah like that. She would have never thrown a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity away all because she doesn’t feel butterflies in her damn stomach!!”Selena was cold, she was shivering because she was wet and because the winds were chilly as if they were in Antarctica. She reached for the doorbell, ringing it a few times as they waited. Then she decided to check on the beta, because she knew that if she was cold, that would mean that Leon would be freezing. Considering that he was shirtless. But when she looked at him, he seemed okay. That was the thing, he seemed okay, it didn’t mean that he was. He was not shaking as much as she was, and he was paying attention to the door, waiting for it to open. She was about to ask him if he was okay but then the door made a sound as it was being opened, stealing back her attention. She looked over and watched it open, revealing an older gentleman standing there with a look on his face that was quite hard to decipher. “How may I help you?” The man asked in a monotone. “Can we at least come inside? It’s freezing,” Leon said. The man nodded, opening the door wider and allowing them to walk i
The rain did not stop, and it was beyond dangerous to be driving in such weather like that, but they were. Leon was behind the steering wheel, shirtless and focused on trying not to crash into a tree or another car. But again, who would be stupid enough to be driving under such conditions? Who but them?Selena was sitting right next to him, her eyes trained on the road. As much as she wanted them to find Cassie, she also did not want to die or get hurt trying to find the girl. She was tempted to tell the beta that they could just turn and go back, letting whatever that was supposed to happen happen. But she kept it to herself and just stayed glued to her seat, her seatbelt on, of course. A flash of lightning lit up the road for a quick second, and the omega flinched, knowing exactly what was coming next, so she covered her ears and waited for it to pass. After a few more seconds, she removed her hands from her ears and sighed. She turned and looked over at the beta and asked, “How
The rain was so heavy. Even though the windows were closed, the sound was still like a million tiny bullets were being shot at the house. Selena was asleep, but she had set up a series of alarms on her phone to make sure that she would be able to check up on the blonde girl. Each one was supposed to start blaring individually after every one hour and thirty minutes. She had no idea when the first one was going to start ringing since sleep had mercilessly stolen her after ten minutes of setting up those alarms. But it felt like only five minutes had passed when she woke up to one of them finally screaming in her ear from her phone. When her eyes opened, she groaned, immediately regretting why she had chosen to do this. She knew that she was going to be so f*cked up in the morning, but she was already in too deep. There was no turning back. Right…?Right…?She sat up and grabbed the phone, turning the sound off before looking over at the blonde girl. Despite how annoying and loud her
Cassie seemed to be happy to hear what the omega had said. “Who’s Cat, and how can she help us?” She was tempted to start pacing the room, but felt a bit grounded after hearing that she could actually get some help. “She’s my friend, we met at the Moon festival,” Selena replied. “She’s a hybrid of a witch and werewolf. And she sees visions. She was the first one who saw that I was going to be the savior of the pack; the white-haired Luna.” “Oh…” The blonde girl nodded, taking the words in. “Do you think she would be able to come over right now?” “Cassie, it’s late. And there’s a storm brewing. You can literally hear the thunderclaps.” “And so? We can send a car for her.” She shrugged. “It’s not…it’s not that simple. She lives with her parents, and they are really strict when it comes to her. They don’t even know yet that she had seen that vision about me becoming the white-haired Luna.”“But can’t we, like, talk to them or something? I really need to know what happened last night
It was quiet…when the words of the blonde girl came out about asking who she had killed, it went dead silent. Selena did not know what to say, while Cassie was stuck in her mind. She was trying her best not to lose her mind, which she was already losing. This went on for about a full minute before a sob broke the quiet. Cassie released a shaky breath and locked eyes with the omega. “What if it were someone’s mom? Or it could have been someone’s dad…or even brother.” She looked away, tears falling freely from her eyes. “Oh my god,” She said under her breath. “Cassie, you need to stop overthinking.”“But…” “Just stop.” Selena was much firmer now. She felt like she needed to get this under control, or this was going to not only ruin the blonde girl, but it was going to affect her mental health a lot as well. Selena was the type of person who could easily be affected mentally by things and people around her. And yeah, this was kind of normal for everyone, but the thing here was that h
It did not take long for Selena and Leon to get back to the mansion. When they did, it was already nightfall. The moon was nowhere to be found, and even the stars were a bit hidden. There were white thin clouds floating up, and it was a bit cold. It looked like it could rain at any time. The car came to a stop, and the engine was killed. The beta removed his seatbelt, and silence filled the space as he turned and looked over at the omega for a few long seconds before speaking. “Are you okay…?” His voice was soft. “I know you have gone through a lot since you entered our lives, things that you were not expecting to go through. And I am so sorry.” He flashed her a sad smile. “But I swear, it’s not always like this.” He chuckled a bit. Selena smiled, her heart filled with enough anxiety to kill a small animal. “It’s fine. My life was kind of sh*t, to begin with. Even before I came into y’all’s lives, things were sh*tty for me. If anything, things may be a bit bad now, but they used to
