“Step forward, omega,” One of the councilmen said, his eyes trained on her.

Selena felt her heart pounding against her rib cage, and she hated that Leon was not in the room with her anymore. She felt almost alone, but then when she looked towards the alpha, a peace she couldn’t explain filled her heart.

He flashed her a small smile, and that was all she needed. She turned her attention back to the councilmen and stood before them.

She remembered that she was told to not speak unless spoken to, so she took that advice and just stood there.
