Rowan's POV

Fear enveloped everyone in the room as we quickly hid by corners, holding onto anything that could serve as a weapon while we all trembled. My teeth gnashed loudly and shivers ran down my spine as I listened keenly.

“We know you have the child, so don't try to play heroes tonight,” the voice warned, echoing deeply and sending more chilling sensations all over my body.

Which child? Me?

But this wasn't the time to ask questions.

“What do you want?” Dad asked slowly.

“Just give us the Moonborn Omega, and no one would be hurt,” the voice replied, this time, somewhat calmer.

Moonborn Omega? That's the story I was reading about today and it's just fiction. What in God's name is he talking about?

However, tonight, everything I had known was a blur and I couldn't differentiate what was real from my imaginations anymore.

“Mei,” Dad called immediately, his voice low and deep with fear. “Take Rowan and run, I'll buy you some time,” he stated, his voice firm with determination. But I couldn't just run away from this epic battle and I couldn't just leave here blind without knowing what was going on and what I'll be running from the rest of my life, if I make it out here tonight.

I deserve to know the truth, at least some part of it.

“Come on, Rowan, we have to go,” Mom begged, but I just stood there, unwilling and confused. Among all the things I had ever wished for, this was never included, to be plunged into the world I read about.

“I'm not going anywhere, we can't just run away, we can't leave Dad here alone. What will they do to him?” Tear drops rolled down my eyes as I saw the sadness in their faces.

A deep sigh escaped Dad's lips and Mom nodded softly at him. He turned to me with guilt and a sour face and released the long awaited truth that struck me like a bomb.

“You are a Moonborn and we didn't tell you because we wanted you to live a normal life before all this, and all of what you've read in the books, the stories you believed were fiction, they're all true."

It blasted me without warning and I gasped for air, holding my chest immediately while the screams of men outside continued.

“What…what do you mean? No, you can't be serious!” I snapped, but he held my shoulder and patted me gently. The ground shook heavily and the cries of the men outside intensified.

“I'm sorry…but there is no time to explain, you have to go with your mom now.”

Before I could ask more questions, the estate trembled heavily with a loud vibration that destroyed the walls and barriers surrounding it.

The loud crash of everything shook the whole place and I saw the leader walk in calmly through the chaos and dust, his face covered and several cloaked warriors behind him followed attacking from all sides now. I had never read about them since all that I read was true.

I studied him carefully and he paused, observing and instead of attacking immediately, he stared right at the window of the study where we were hiding, like he knew or could sniff us out.

“Lord Damon,” he called and my eyes widened.

How did he know my father, they once knew themselves.

“It's been quite a while, old friend. And you knew all along that hiding the Moonborn for eighteen years was just delaying the inevitable. You knew we would still find you and come for the child,” the voice mocked.

Dad stood up slowly, staring down at him with disgust and clenched his jaw, his fist tightened.

“We would never hand him over,” he stated firmly, his voice full of determination and rage. “Our child will never become a tool for anyone!”

A soft rumble echoed through the whole place as the leader laughed loudly, sending shivers down my spine.

I hid beside my mom, and keenly listened.

“Eighteen years of hiding has definitely weakened you and all that's left of you is a washed off Moon priest that can't defeat me,” he mocked.

It was still quite unreal and funny that my whole life was built on a lie, but I still don't know why the Moonborn was so important. I didn't read much about it because there were just a few records of it.

“There's no need for bloodshed, Lord Damon. We're not here to kill Rowan,” he paused.

My eyes widened again. How…how did he know my name? My grip around my mom tightened and she caressed my hair gently as tears rolled down her eyes.

“We're just here to claim him.”

The dangerous reality of my world was growing worse each passing second. All these years, so there were powerful and dangerous forces that had been waiting for me to awaken.

“We won't give you our son!” Dad spat coldly.

He shrugged gently and raised his hand, signaling the attack and the cloaked warriors began to advance towards the estate.

“Have it your way then, old friend.”

I stood up at once and rushed to see his face, but Dad quickly pulled me back and mom grabbed me, cupping my face with trembling hands as tears rolled down her eyes.

“Listen to me son, no matter what happens, never let them take you."

Before I could ask what she meant, she quickly shoved me behind my father and a brilliant white blinding light erupted from her body, forcing everyone to shield their eyes.

Her screams filled the air as I watched in stunned silence as her form changed.

Snow white furs burst through her skin and her bones were ripped apart from their original positions as her body grew larger. Her muscles were covered with a deep burning aura until a magnificent white she wolf stood between us and the intruders at the door now.

They all froze, and the leader's confident smile faded for a brief second.

"A... White Alpha Wolf?" He said slowly and confused with his fingers crossed.

I trembled violently on the ground as the she wolf bared her fangs and released a loud and terrifying howl that shook the entire estate.

I stared at her in disbelief, my heart sank into my stomach, my mind racing with thoughts.

My mother...was a werewolf.

Rowan's POV My fingers shook in horror as I stared, my soul struck with fear that spread like wild fire and consumed me immediately. But it was strange, as if radiating a sort of energy towards me and never burned me. It felt surreal and unbelievable, but I knew this wasn't a dream, I just didn't understand what kind of madness or hallucinations my mind was making up.I tried to calm myself and reached out to the flames and like a magnet, it tried to coil around my hand, and I couldn't feel its heat, but I quickly yanked my hand away, my breath hitched in my throat, my soul heavy with terror. However, I didn't stop, this was too good to be true and impossible to leave. I tried again, this time with both hands and the fire recoiled again around the both of them like I was some fire god or something. • The Moonborn Omega   Chapter 1

Rowan's POV The warm air of the study filled the air, the soft flickering lamp illuminated the room as the soft flipping sound of papers disturbed the silence. My eyes scanned the scroll thoroughly, unable to really grasp what it meant.“A moon born Omega?” I raised an eyebrow. It said here about an old legend of the Moon born Omega, born once every thousand years, believed to be capable of a lot more than being just blessed by the mood goddess. This was new, and really interesting.Hmmm. I leaned back on the chair, reading further and my eyes stopped at a particular paragraph.“If the moon born was a male, he would be capable of child birth.” A soft, forced chuckle escaped my lips. What a load of crap! These stories were interesting, but this particular one was crazy. But it didn't stop me and I read further and it said that a thousand years ago, after the death of the last moon born Omega, every record of the Moonborn legacy vanished.Hmmm, well, that was more than enough reason
