The next day dawned with a heavy sense of regret weighing on my shoulders. As I tried to approach Valerie, she quickly avoided me, slipping away before I could even say a word. Even at school, she managed to evade me, leaving me feeling like a complete idiot.

I couldn't shake the guilt that gnawed at me. My behavior had been completely uncalled for. Valerie had been there for me yesterday, worried about me, and instead of being grateful, I had pushed her away like some kind of jerk.

The next day was no different. I woke up early, hoping to catch Valerie before she left for school, but it seemed she had gone with her dad again, slipping through my fingers once more. Another missed opportunity to talk to her, to make things right.
