Chapter 30. A Family Trouble

It was in the middle of the night when I smell the scent getting stronger. I sniff the air and wonder who could it be since my father has not said anything about a guest staying in the Palace. Xander and his mother have already retired for the night, having to wake up early in the morning to watch the warrior's training.
"Vincent, we have an urgent matter to discuss."
The voice of my father stops my hand from grabbing another glass of whiskey on the counter. I looked behind me and meet his gaze then I move my eyes to see Carmela standing close to her. My mind was somewhere else.
"Yes father, what is it? We can discuss it here."
I smirk and took the glass promptly, emptying it before placing it back. My father ran his eyes around, people are dancing to the loud music in the hall. This is a small party to welcome our guests who already left to rest.

* Ashley *I am not sure what woke me up but I just suddenly rise from the bed and look around me. At first, the surroundings are silent. But after a few minutes have passed I can smell the scent of something so intoxicating. Musky vanilla with wood sage, it goes deep into my nostrils and inside my lungs through the veins of my body. I can tell that it is almost dawn and the wolves in the Palace will wake up soon. The smell becomes stronger as I sniff the air to follow where it comes from.

* Ashley *The warm water falling from the shower feels soothing on my flawless cream color skin. After the hunt, we return to the Palace and he let me go back into my room. I feel much better after having that meal, although it is a puzzle when I look at myself in the mirror and see how flat my stomach is after having a big meal.
