Four months later…….
Kit was lying in the hospital bed tired with beads of perspiration still running down her forehead as Mitsuhide refused to leave her side for even a second. He looked at her, and then he craned his neck to the two small creatures that were taking up most of the attention in the room.
“Let’s get you finished up here, and then you can see them both.” The doctor said as Mitsuhide began wiping her forehead again.
“You did
The day was long, and it seemed like nothing was going to go right for Doctor Kit Jones. When it was finally over, she drove home, enjoying the peace in the car. Though she was still frustrated from the day and the fact that it seemed that no one around her could do the simplest of things she was trying to unwind during the traffic jam as she drove home. It was not the place she normally would unwind, but it was the only place she could at the moment. As the music was turned up, Kit waited somewhat impatiently for the whatever the obstacle was to be cleared as she drove about two miles an hour tra
She had to sit back for a second and think about what he just said. It was a shock, and she now understood why he was so completely and utterly lost in his mind. He hadn’t even thought of this because he had not properly grieved for his sister yet either. Though they were good friends, some might even say best friends, she had never known about his sister. She didn’t even know he had a twin at all. That was for another time.“Okay, let’s start again at the beginning.” She said as she tried to clear out her mind. “When did you receive this call?”
Inside, the building was pandemonium as they walked in together. The staff was off to one side, and the police and investigators were asking questions. As soon as they were spotted, they were rushed into a small room. She had Mitsuhide’s hand in hers as he watched them want to get him alone. He was not having any of that as he kept her close to him. Holding her hand even tighter at times that should have hurt, but it never did. he was not letting go of his lifeline at any costs.“Mr. Akechi. I have to ask you a few questions.” One of the detectives said as he looked over the two.“Okay,” Mitsuhide replied.
She was watching as a pair of young doctors were going over the woman. It seemed that they were shocked and puzzled at what they were finding. The nurses were hovering and trying to interject their thoughts on everything the doctors were finding. As if this was a routine event, and nothing was really wrong. Kit looked around the room to the small monitors and everything else that was in the room. Kit had to wonder why this place was supposed to be one of the best care centers in the country with what she was seeing. There was a vase of fresh flowers by June’s bed, and Kit knew those were from Mitsuhide. It looked like he had brought in some of her things over the years he had watched over her
Mitsuhide snapped out his mental fog as he looked at Kit and then June. He had been lost in his fog as he thought of only his sister since he got the call, but it seemed he wasn't processing all the words he had heard. It wasn't until Kit said it like that did he realize there was another human involved as well. The baby, his sister, was carrying. The same baby that just kicked him as he touched his sister and it. “Kit, there is a baby.” He said as he realized how dumb he sounded. Of course, she knew that already. It seemed she was much better at this than he was. Though he had to think he was still in shock. He had no idea what to do. What was going to go on with the baby? What the baby was? This was never a place he thought he wou
Kit had to take a second to herself as Simon packed up his things and started to give Mitsuhide all his contact info. Simon was more than willing to take on the case and work for Mitsuhide as a private physician for June. This was a challenge all its own, and the other doctor liked those. As far as Simon was concerned, this could be the one that made his career. Kit continued to look out the window without thinking or really listening to the two men in the room as they had a conversation behind her.“I will write up a detailed report and have it sent over to the police and to you,” Simon said as he reached out his hand to Mitsuhide. “Thank you f
After about an hour, more of them going back and forth with the three people Kit and Mitsuhide exhausted with the other people. Finally, they were allowed to leave. As they did, they knew this was going to be a fight. Every paper they wanted Mitsuhide to sign had some other clause written into it that would basically sign over his sister’s care to the facility and the same was for the babies as well. He was fuming as he made a stack of papers in front of him. The lawyer went to remove the papers in front of him, but Mitsuhide was faster in picking them up. Kit could see another standoff was about to happen. She moved to stand between them. “If you have any other questions or papers to sign, please have them directed to Kyle Mitchel,
“I don’t want to think of the what-ifs.” He said softly as he tried to focus on something out the window as she drove.“Well, you do have to think about them regardless of you wanting too or not.” Kit said equally as softly. “Mitsu, no one wants to think about those, but you have to know them.”“I think I already do.” He replied.“Oh well, some of them for sure. However, you have choices you need to make, and the only way you can make those that are right for you and for June is if you actually hear them.” Kit said as
