Chapter Thirty

Beach:

The sand was warm and gritty feeling as her knees crashed into it. Danica dug her fingers in it as she leaned over bracing herself. She inhaled deeply, she was desperately trying to catch her breath. The water from the ocean dripped off of her and puddled into the sand. She watched it turn the sand a dark gray color as she calmed her burning lungs. She had jumped out of the row boat as they neared the shore and helped pull the rowboat in. She felt a strong arm slip under hers and help pull her up to her feet.

“You alright Captain?” Kaleb said to her his hands lingering on her.

“Aye.” Danica answered leaning back into him a little bit as she looked around.
