Lian's POV

Eva and I left our building and started moving forward. Other students were behind us.

Everyone was divided into groups. They only talked with their group members and no one else. Eva and I were in one group, I guess.

“Are you nervous, Lian?”

I glanced at Eva. “Of course I am. I’m hella nervous right now. My whole body is trembling.”

Eva looked nervous too, more than me, I guess. She had been smiling this whole time, so now that her face was down, I could see how important this exam was for her as well.

I never asked her anything personal about herself. Because if I asked about her, she would ask about me too. And I don’t want to tell anyone where I am from.

I am basically a rogue now.

While talking, we all reached the end of the university building, that’s where our exam was being held.

My whole body was trembling in fear. I knew I was nervous.

But still, taking a deep breath, Eva and I entered the exam hall with everyone. As we entered, the hall was empty.

Our names were written on our seats. Mine was at the back row, and Eva’s name was in the middle row; we were a little far from each other. But I gave her a fighting sign, and she nodded while doing the same.

As we took out our pens, someone entered. He was a man wearing a cream-colored shirt with black pants. His hair was green, and his eyes were golden.

He was holding a bunch of pages. Wait a minute… he must be the one who’s going to stay here until our exam is done.

“Hey everyone, I will be your supervisor for today’s exam. My name is Jack.”

His eyes lingered on everyone sitting ahead and in the middle row. Since I was sitting at the back, I knew he couldn’t see me.

“So, I will distribute the exam papers now,” he said, and started handing them out. But as he reached the back row…

His eyes were on me as he placed the paper on my desk. I grabbed the paper, but he wasn’t letting go.

I pulled, but his fingers were gripping the corner tightly, and his eyes were still fixed on me. I was afraid the paper would tear, so I called out.

“Sir!”

He looked at me, then down at the paper, and finally let go.

I didn’t know why he had been staring at me so long, or why he didn’t want to let go of the paper.

I started to read the questions, they were all about GK, not about dance at all. It was something I knew because I had read many GK books. I was a topper in my high school.

But didn’t Eva tell me that the exam would be about whatever we were more interested in?

I looked up at Eva and saw her looking back at me, her face screaming, we are doomed. From her reaction, I could tell it was shocking for her too.

I couldn’t blame her,it was her first time taking an exam. Of course, she didn’t know much; she was just repeating what she had heard from others.

“Why are you looking back instead of doing your own paper?” Jack went to her. I quickly looked down and continued writing my answers.

After one hour, more than half my paper was done. Man, they had made the papers like an entire textbook! We are people, not machines. How did they expect us to write this much?

As I was writing, my fingers got stiff and hurt a little. I glanced back, creaking my fingers and massaging them while looking around at the other students.

“What happened to your fingers?”

I flinched, sudden voice right in my ears. I looked to my right; Jack was standing there. Man, he totally scared me.

“Nothing, sir. It’s just that my fingers are stiff from writing non-stop,” I replied, and grabbed the pen again to continue writing.

But just then, Jack grabbed my hand.

“Let me see how your hand is,” he said, rubbing my fingers with his hand.

I pulled my hand back. But seeing his golden eyes, I couldn’t help remembering Andrew, his eyes were golden too.

Then again… anyone’s eyes could be golden. I sighed, looked down, and continued writing.

In the meantime, my paper was done, and it was already time to collect everyone’s papers. So Jack started taking the papers back from everyone.

When he came to me, I handed over my paper and remained seated. After collecting papers from everyone, he went to the table in front of us.

“Thank you for your hard work. All your results will be announced tomorrow morning on the university billboard,” Jack said, and then he left, taking our papers with him.

As soon as he left, Eva jumped out of her desk and rushed to me. “I am doomed. I don’t know much general knowledge, but I still tried to write as much as I could,” she said.

I smiled and stood up, taking my things. “Yes, it was hard indeed, but not that much for me. I’ve read many GK books,” I replied.

I stepped out from my desk, and we both went to Eva’s desk. She grabbed her belongings, and then we both left from there.

We didn’t bother to look at the other students we had already come to know them very well.

These students have more attitude than anyone else, so they don’t deserve to talk with us.

“That sir was strange, you know,” I mumbled.

“How?” Eva asked as we were going back to our quarter.

But I didn’t reply. I couldn’t tell Eva how Jack was weird, how he had held my hand and stared at me. She would think I was the strange one.

“Nothing. It’s just my first time meeting him, that’s why I thought that,” I replied.

“Oh, don’t worry about that. When you get passed, you’ll get used to seeing his face,” Eva said.

We reached the building, and lunch was already prepared for us. Before going to the exam, we had breakfast, and now that we were back, seeing lunch mattered more than anything.

Lian's POV We quickly sat down at the dining table, which was wooden. There wasn’t really a proper dining table for us, but even this was better than nothing. As we were eating, that same girl who had messed with us earlier came there. When she arrived, I thought she was here to eat.But she passed from behind me. I hadn’t noticed her at first, but from the corner of my left eye, I realized she was standing right behind me.I glanced back, and indeed she was there, standing with her arms folded near her chest. I really didn’t understand what this foolish girl wanted from me now.“What?” I asked her. When I asked, her eyes stayed on me, and she remained in the same position. I was about to say more, but before I could, Eva stood up from her chair and moved beside the girl.“What exactly is your problem? Are you, by any chance, jealous of us? Is that why you’re always looking for an opportunity to fight with us? I’ve endured enough of your bullshit, but neither I nor Lian are going to

Lian's POV Once the exams are over and the results are announced, students move into the real dorms with the others who aren’t part of the welfare program. Those who fail, however, go back home. That meant everything depended on this exam. My life depended on this exam. “What are you thinking about, Lian? Are you perhaps worried about the exam? Don’t worry, exams are mostly based on what we’re most interested in. Everyone will have different exam papers according to their interests,” Eva said as we walked toward the building. What? We’re all going to have different exam papers? And the exam will be based on our interests? Does that mean they’re going to ask me about dance in the exam? Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. As we reached the building, I saw a few students standing outside, chatting, while some were inside. I glanced at them, but they just ignored me, as if I didn’t exist.Seriously, Eva was right. Welfare program students behaved like this with each other, they

Lian's POV I was completely fine, so Ken discharged me from the hospital and personally dropped me in front of the academy.“That’s all I can help with, buddy. From here, you have to be on your own,” Ken said from inside the car.I stood outside the car, right in front of the Mian Academy entrance gate, and turned back at his words.“Thank you for helping me, Ken. Let’s meet again in the future, if it’s possible,” I said, waving my hand.Ken smiled and drove away. I turned back and looked ahead.I took a deep breath and went inside through the entrance gate. As I stepped in, I saw a long road where expensive cars and sports bikes were parked. Am I on the right path? I wondered as I kept moving forward.Just then, I saw the Mian Academy building. It was huge, almost like a castle. Just like the magic schools we see on TV, with tall towers and a grand, castle-like structure. This academy was the same.It looked incredibly royal. My steps stopped, and I stood there right in front of Mia

Lian's POV By the time I crossed the jungle, it was already night. I was so exhausted that I was dragging my feet. When I finally came out, I saw a proper road, cars passing by, buildings nearby, people moving around like normal. Some humans were there too, living alongside wolf shifters.I moved forward, about to cross the road, when suddenly my legs gave out. I collapsed in the middle of the road. A car was coming toward me at full speed. I tried to move, but I couldn’t. I clenched my eyes tightly, waiting for the pain. But it never came. After a moment, I opened my eyes and saw the car had stopped right in front of me. The door opened. I first saw black leather shoes, then black pants. When I looked up, I saw a man wearing a black suit over a white shirt. He had brown hair and golden eyes.“If you want to commit suicide, find another car. Don’t stop in front of mine,” he said.He was handsome, but his face slowly became blurrier and blurrier… and then everything went dark. Now,
