I keep holding it in as best as I can, but the second we're outside and the door is closed, I turn to her.

"You have A FUCKING KID?! MY kid?!" I demand, finally letting it out, "What the fuck, Ivy?"

She doesn't look guilty at all. She's not confirming it out loud, but her silence and the way she crosses her arms is an answer. Not to mention, the kid looks exactly like me, so it’s not like there’s a need for a paternity test.

“How old is he, six?" I continue.

"Obviously," Ivy scoffs, "I left your house freshly pregnant. I didn't know it at the time, of course, I found out about a month later. That's when I decided to leave this shit pack for good and never come back… until recent developments, clearly."

The words hit like a bullet. Blunt. Brutal. Breaking.

Six years.

She carried my child, alone—while I was here playing politics beside a woman I don’t love. Six years of silence, of missing birthdays, of not knowing I had a son.

A son.

  • The Omega Who Walked Away   Opening Scene

When I reach the office, I take a good breath and open the door without knocking. I mean, he already invited me in earlier, why would I make this even more awkward by knocking like a stranger? My shoulders drop in disappointment when I see the office is empty, but then I hear movement to my left and I see Remington walking out of the bathroom, his jacket is gone and he's getting rid of his silver cravat. "You're a little earlier than I expected," he says, dropping his hands and looking lost for a second. I don’t think he actually expected me to come at all. Even I’m surprised I’m here, "Thanks for coming, I wasn’t sure you would." I'm immediately shaken up because I can tell that's his real voice, not the forced serious one he's been using this whole time. He’s not playing the Alpha Remington role right now. "I couldn't miss the chance to see you like this, like the guy I first met," I admit, looking at him up and down, "Although, he lived in athletic wear back then, not th

  • The Omega Who Walked Away   About To Change

I come back to the ball with my mind completely elsewhere and I walk without a specific place in mind. I just want to see Ivy again, even if it's just from far away. And Ashton. My son. Ashton Silvan, I like the name she chose. Ashton Doreen Silvan sounds even better, it encompasses that he belongs to both of us. What would've happen if we had been still together when Ivy realized she was pregnant? She wouldn't have been able to keep the secret at all, she would've told me immediately. I can only imagine the joy, the way I would grab her and kiss all over her, so excited. This time, Ivy is not talking to Felix anymore. She's sitting on a different table, looking at the wall with arms crossed. Everyone is steering clear of that table, knowing she's not to be messed with. I want to be with her, even if she'll only continue fighting me. But I want to drop my walls off and tell her the truth. Tell her I've regretted my decisions a million times, over and over. And how I w

  • The Omega Who Walked Away   The Moment

I had been putting it off for weeks, but the plan was already in motion. My Grandmother had set up a marriage for me, with the daughter of the best family in our neighboring pack. Sierra Garrison, someone I knew since birth. Marrying her would mean a stronger alliance in case Ivy actually brought chaos and death into our pack. Because everyone was sure she was the Fireborn Omega in that prophecy and, at that point, I really believed it too. I was about to take the position of Alpha so I had to think about my pack first. And Ivy was a threat to it. Even if it pained me to agree, it was impossible not to. She was terrible in social situations, she didn't know how to behave and the last time I took her to an event, she almost starts a fight between Alpha Winston and my father. She was dangerous while she was still a teenager, but she would only get worse with age. That's why the Council offered me the solution: get another wife publicly, for politics. And keep Ivy at home

  • The Omega Who Walked Away   Best of Luck

I walk behind the kid but there's no way I'm catching up to him now, I wasted too much time freaking out and he was running too fast. I have no other choice but to return to the table with Ivy, calling security on my phone as I walk, to make sure they won’t let the kid in a blue dress walk out. Ivy is still fucking talking to Felix. Felix, who she dated right after me. But Felix has dark skin and brown hair, those are strong genes. His kids would turn out like that. Just like Silvan hair is a strong gene. So my kid turned out like that. "Ivy," I say and grab her arm, pulling her up not giving a fuck about being polite right now. She's stunned, so she just looks at me with a confused expression, "Ashley ran away. She left running." "What?" She barks, turning around immediately. Cassie stops talking to the guy next to her to turn as well and both women realize at the same time, the kid is gone, "What the fuck?! Where is he?!” He. "There's security. I already told them not to

  • The Omega Who Walked Away   Revelations All Around

{ Remington } I usually can handle public events with a lot more ease than today. I have no issue playing my part entertaining guests, but it’s been exhausting today. I’m worried about Ivy being out of the house, I’m worried about this being a bad idea and I hate the way people are clearly talking about our past. About how I rejected Ivy to marry Sierra, I just fucking hate to be reminded of that moment. So when most people have arrived and it’s time for the presentation, I feel relieved. I grab my Luna’s hand and we walk to the stage on the right corner with the musicians. They move aside for us. I start as I always do, thanking everyone in general and mentioning my allied Alphas by name. Everything is the same, except the girl walking to the stage, knowing damn well everyone is holding their breaths in expectation, asking themselves why is she here again, after so many years… they must be thinking they’re about to witness another public rejection. They couldn’t be more wrong.
