DEXTERA

I straightened immediately, trailing after Freya as I forced myself to gather focus. Whatever had just passed between Deucalion and I, I shoved it aside. This wasn’t the place or time for it.

Freya walked fast ahead without awaiting a response from me and I had to pace after her to catch up.

The training ground stretched far wider than I initially noticed. What I thought was just an open sparring field revealed itself to be structured layers.

Intentionally structured ones.

THORThick silence lingered between Maddox and me before I finally spoke.“Has anything happened before this that I wasn't made aware of?” I questioned.Maddox held my gaze for a moment. Something changed in his expression, subtle enough that I might have missed it if I didn't know him as well as I did.“Actually, there is something else,” he admitted. He set his glass down carefully.“And it concerns me more than the revolt.”I studied him.“More than four Alphas potentially moving against the throne?”He nodded.“I've been handling it quietly. Or at least, I've been trying to.” He paused. “But I haven't been able to get anywhere with it.”That caught my attention. It was rare for Maddox to admit that he had reached a dead end. He was one of the strongest, most strategic people I knew, and he rarely allowed a problem to remain unsolved for long.“What exactly are you dealing with?”“Reports came from several packs about increased wolf disconnections.” He leaned back a bit. “At first,

  • The Omega's Promise    Chapter 88: The Lycan King's Call

THORMy business trip to the human-populated regions was seamless all through until I received the Lycan King's call.As soon as I picked up the call, I thought it was regarding preparations for the upcoming Alpha ball which was scheduled to take place in three weeks time. However, Maddox had made me understand it was far more than just preparation talks.Dressed in a simple white polo and navy blue trousers, I stepped out of the hotel that had been my home throughout the trip.“Good morning, Alpha.” My personal chauffeur greeted.I flashed him a small smile and nodded. “Morning, Steve. Are we set?”“Yes, Alpha.”The engine came alive with a smooth purr as I slid into the back seat. Within seconds, we were already gliding through the early morning streets, leaving behind the polished calm of the human district. The farther we drove, the more the atmosphere changed. The noise and distractions faded, replaced by a growing sense of alertness with every mile we covered.By the time we rea

DEXTERAI wasn't sure I heard him right. I replayed his voice several times in my mind, but I heard the same thing. I. Love. You. There was no way in hell I expected that when he said he wanted us to talk. His confession took me off guard completely. On impulse, I uttered the very first thing that came to my mind.“Wow. That must have taken a lot of courage.” “You bet.”I clucked my tongue and wrapped my arms around myself. “But I'm strongly repulsed by the idea.”Deucalion's brow furrowed in shock, but he wasn't one to back down. He further expressed his thoughts. “I meant what I said, Dextera.” He said. “And I would really appreciate if you take a moment to think about it before giving just any response.”I huffed and my shoulders shrugged in surrender. “There’s nothing for me to think about, Beta Deucalion. Honestly, I'm flattered, but I'm sorry to say...your emotions have been misguided all along.”I paused for a moment, allowing my words to sink in. “I have no idea when or h

DEXTERAFreya pushed my training harder with faster drills, sharper strikes, less room to breathe. My body burned and every muscle screamed in protest, but I didn’t dare slow down. Not with Deucalion watching. I wasn't ready to prove him right that I needed a break when Freya already saw me as nothing but a weakling. Deucalion's gaze would settle on me when I moved, when I stumbled, when I pushed through something he probably didn't expect me to.And every single time I caught his stare, he looked away instantly like he had been caught doing something he wasn’t supposed to.At first, I ignored it. Then it started to irritate me, and I ended up getting distracted once again. Along the line, I missed a step.Freya’s blow landed on my torso, sending me staggering sideways. She had instructed me to hurdle across obstacles to and fro, and I just missed a step. “Focus,” she snapped.“I am,” I shot back, though I knew that wasn’t entirely true. Her eyes slit with anger, following the brie

  • The Omega's Promise    Chapter 85: Handling It

DEXTERAWas that a threat? That was the first thought to cross my mind after her strong utterance. The words hit harder than any slap ever could.Absolutely, she was right. Someone as influential and powerful as Thor wouldn't want a weakling up close. Yet, something in me wouldn't just settle for the fact that she blurted such statement to me in that manner. The audacity! However, instead of snapping back, I swallowed it all. Every sting. Every insult. Every doubt she tried to force into my bones. After all, she had just handed me something more valuable than pride; a challenge aimed to shape me into a better, more powerful person.“Fine,” I said at last. “Let’s see if I’m really as weak as you think.”Freya’s brow arched, like she hadn’t expected compliance so soon. But the smirk returned almost instantly.“Good,” she muttered. “Because I don’t train liabilities.”She turned around and began walking, motioning for me to follow. We reached the physical conditioning area and she took a

What I thought was just an open sparring field revealed itself to be structured layers.Intentionally structured ones.Freya marched with purpose, her steps confident, as though she had memorized every inch of the place.“This,” she gestured, “is the primary combat ring.”The circular arena beneath our feet was marked with faint lines barely visible unless you looked closely. “Ranked matches happen here,” she continued. “Every fighter is assessed, documented, and placed accordingly. Strength without order is useless in Woodhound.”I blinked, glancing down again.Documented? Assessed? That alone was already different. In Bi

DEXTERA The room Sansa offered me wasn’t big—just a box-shaped space with the barest essentials a room could have. A bed, a tiny table, a worn-out stool. A small window.“This is where you’ll be staying,” Sansa said, her eyes raking over me one last time. “Rest for a while. Your first set of chore
