The Wolf Beneath My Skin

Davina’s POV

My muscles screamed as I forced myself into another pushup, sweat dripping onto the packed dirt beneath me. The sun had barely risen, painting the training grounds in pale gold, but I’d been here for hours. Every breath burned. Every movement felt like dragging stones tied to my bones.

But I didn’t stop.

I couldn’t.

Eric leaned against the wooden post nearby, arms crossed, watching me with those sharp gray eyes. He hadn’t said a word since he found me here at dawn. Just stared. Like he was waiting for me to break.

Joke’s on him. I’d been broken before. This? This was nothing.

“You’re favoring your left side,” he finally said, voice rough.

I gritted my teeth and adjusted my weight, ignoring the twinge in my ribs. “Better?”

He smirked. “Now you’re just being stubborn.”

I collapsed onto my elbows, gasping. “You’re the one who said ‘pain is just weakness leaving the body.’”

“And you’re the one taking it literally.” He pushed off t

Eris POV “This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.” I hit my hand on the tree trunk. “It was an opportunity to have.” My voice echoed harshly against the quiet woods. I dragged a hand down my face and laughed under my breath, it sounded bitter and painful. Davina falls for it…just as I was making a move, stupid Malcolm came. How I hated him. I just can't wait to end his arrogant life. “Arhh!” I screamed. I paced slowly, thinking wildly. They couldn't go free. “There must be another way,” I muttered. “There is always another way.” I slowly stopped, halted as a thought slid into my mind. It didn't look like a perfect plan but it is something I can do. Malcolm and Davina were both here. Which meant…My lips parted and my eyes lit up. “The children,” I whispered. I laughed, the sound rolled out of my mouth before I could stop it. “Of course.” If Malcolm and Davina were in the Silver Blood pack, and their children were not with them. They would never bring their heirs into a brewin

The Scent That Shouldn’t Exist Davina POV “Eris,” I mumbled again, the name slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it. I stood in the middle of the clearing, the heat from the dying fire still covering the air, with ash floating down like dark snow. Warriors shouted orders in the distance. Buckets slammed against the ground. Someone cursed loudly as smoke clung stubbornly to the trees. “Put that side out!” Alpha Thomas’s voice rang through the chaos. “Check the western homes!” Malcolm barked. “No one separates. Move in pairs!” Their voices were strong, and loud. My chest felt tight and my breathing felt wrong. “Luna?” a female warrior called out. “Are you hurt? Why are you here all by yourself? Is everything okay?” “I’m fine,” I answered automatically, though my voice trembled. “I just… need air.” I stepped away before anyone could question me. Before Malcolm could turn around and really look at my face. Because my expression could tell that something was wrong. Someth

Smoke Without Fire Eris POV I did not light the fire to kill anyone. Although I wouldn't mind if it really kills them…burning them all. That would make my work easier. But I didn't want Thomas, Malcolm, or Davina to die easily. I lit it to remind them. That day was already restless when I moved. The wind carried the scent of dry wood and oil exactly the way I had wanted. I stayed low, wrapped myself in black, crushing my Alpha aura deep inside me until I felt almost hollow. It was uncomfortable, like choking on my own power, but necessary. No pain no gain right? I poured the oil to four houses close to the arena but it was not inside, but close enough to get them noticed and in disarray. They would feel my presence. “I had kept mute for too long and it wasn't in my nature to cower,” I murmured to myself. “I’ll create chaos.” The torch touched the ground and immediately fire erupted. At first, it started low, burning in line. Then the flames climbed greedily, licking the sides

We Are Here Davina pov It was finally morning, it felt heavier than it should have. I was still trying to process the disturbing nightmare I had. I couldn't tell Malcom because he wouldn't believe me. I turned but didn't see Malcolm. Just as I was about to search for him, I heard his voice. “Good morning sunshine. Finally awake? Get ready. We’ll leave soon.” It was as if he was watching me. I turned, “Where are you?” but he didn't answer me. I stretched and yawned then got out of bed. There was no way out. I stood beside the cradle, watching my twins sleep, their tiny chests rising and falling in perfect rhythm. I brushed my fingers gently over their hair, forcing myself to memorize the moment. His happiness and peace these little creatures have brought me. “You’ll be fine,” I whispered, more to myself than to them. The nanny stood quietly behind me, she's an older woman with calm eyes and a loving personality. Malcolm had chosen her himself… I needed someone I could trust, some

A Name That Won’t Die Davina’s POV Sleep refused to come. I lay on my back, staring at the ceiling as if it might break open and give me answers. The room was quiet but my heart was beating so fast. Malcolm’s breathing beside me was calm, deep, the kind of sleep that came from certainty. From believing the world still made sense. I envied him. I wish I could sleep like him. I turned on my side, pulling the covers closer, but the cold followed me anyway. It wasn’t the kind that came from the night air. It was under my skin. Eris… the thought of him alive was turning every organ of my body. I closed my eyes, but his name only rose louder in my head. No. I told myself firmly. He is dead. That was the truth everyone accepted. The truth we buried him with. A blade through his body. Blood soaking the arena floor. His body dragged into the woods like waste. Dead men don’t send assassins. And yet… I opened my eyes again, and my heart was beating faster than it should. My wolf stirr

  • The Omega’s Rise   Chapter 85

Malcolm Hears the Bell Malcolm Pov The wolf barely slowed as he shifted, I watched his boots scraped stone as he dropped to one knee in the center of the study. His chest rose and fell violently, as sweat gathered around his collar, and his eyes were sharp with urgency. I looked up from the documents spread across his desk, feeling irritated already. “You don’t run like that unless the world is ending,” he said coldly. “What is it? Speak!.” “My Alpha,” the messenger panted, lowering his head. “There has been an assassination attempt on Alpha Thomas of Silverblood Pack.” The room went silent. I stood so abruptly that my chair scraped backward with a harsh screech. “What did you just say?” The wolf swallowed. “An assassin was caught trying to kill Alpha Thomas. But he has everything under control. The assassin has been executed publicly, Alpha Thomas has tightened the security and the pack is on heavy lockdown.” For a heartbeat, I didn’t move. I was dumbfounded. How can this be?
