Chapter six
Luna POV Still pondering, I heard a knock at the door. "Come in," I said when the door opened and a maid came in."Good evening, ma'am. Dinner's ready," she said.
"Okay, I'll be there in a minute," I said, and then she left the room.
I climbed down from the bed and immediately left the room, walking downstairs to the dining area.
Moving toward the dining room, Liam was seated on a chair, and a huge figure of another man was seated with his back to me. I couldn't tell who it was, but with the body structure, I could tell it was Kieran. But the question was, what would Kieran be doing here?
I approached the dining area when he turned around, and to my wildest surprise, it was Kieran.
"Kieran," I called out to him softly.
"Hi," he greeted with a smile playing on his lips.
I pulled out a chair and sat down. The dining table was filled with a lot of delicacies, and fortunately, they were my favorite dishes. I picked up a fork and knife and was about to dig in when Liam asked, "So Luna, when will you want the wedding to take place?"
I almost choked on my food due to his comment. He wasn't supposed to bring this up, not because Kieran was here, but because I wasn't in the mood to discuss the wedding. "Maybe..." I hesitated.
Kieran's question cut in, "Are you getting married again?" He looked directly into my eyes.
"Yes," I said hesitantly.
"To who?" he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
"She's getting married to a cousin of mine," Liam replied.
Liam's casual mention of the wedding plans seems to have triggered something in Kieran due to the way he'd reacted.
Kieran nodded, "Okay."
Liam took a bite of the chicken and said, "So I'll tell him everything tonight."
Then Kieran got up from the dining table and was about to leave when Liam asked, "Ain't you gonna eat?"
"I've lost my appetite," he said with a smile and walked away. He was trying not to show signs of anger, but I could tell he was upset. Or isn't he okay with the marriage plans?
The rest of the dinner went in silence; I didn't say anything to Liam, and neither did he say anything else. Just as I was done eating, I walked back into the guest suite.
*Thirty five minutes later*
"Was that true?" Kieran asked me while coming into the guest suite.
"What's that?" I asked him skeptically.
He took a deep breath and said, "That you're getting married to Liam's cousin."
I sat down on the stool facing the mirror and took a red lipstick, applying it gently to my lips.
Of course, Kieran had listened to my conversation with Liam, even though he had walked out for a reason I didn't know; I knew he had heard a little of what we were talking about. I never expected him to come asking if it was true, as though it seemed like we were joking.
"Yes," I nodded.
"Are you being serious?" he asked, his voice laced with disappointment.
I dropped the lipstick and turned my face to him. "Do you have a problem with that?"
He walked back to the door, looked around as though he was trying to check if another person was listening to our conversation -- after a short while, he closed the door and moved closer to me.
"I have a problem with that," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
This was the least sentence I was expecting to hear. He had a problem with me marrying Liam's cousin. What's bad about that? Why wasn't he okay with it?
I raised confused brows, as it was obvious I had more than one question to ask about what his problem was.
He couldn't just be against this marriage thing if there was nothing he was burying inside his mind.
"And why aren't you okay with that?" I asked him, with worried lines showing on my forehead.
I knew Kieran had a reason for saying this, and whatever it was, I'd like him to explain it all to me.
"I'm listening," I told him. "I don't trust them," he said.
"Why don't you trust them?" I asked him. Of course, I have a lot to gain from this marriage, and this was actually the reason I'd accepted.
"I don't want you to accept Liam's proposal to marry his cousin," he paused and continued, "I don't trust them.
"You don't trust them because of what?" I asked him.
I really want him to be open to me about his fears.
"Because of everything, and I'm surprised you're even asking all these questions," he told me.
"You're surprised I'm asking all these questions? How am I supposed to know what you're talking about? If you don't trust them, you're supposed to give me a reason for that." I told him.
"I know there's a lot of secrets those two are hiding," he said.
There's a lot of secret they're hiding? Which secret?
"Which secret are you talking about?" I asked him.
"Luna I don't want to talk about that now, just please, listen to me__" he told him.
"You've been away for quite a long time now. Even if anything had happened, you ain't supposed to be aware of it." I told him.
"For the fact that I was away for a long time doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about." He told me.
"I don't think his proposal for the marriage is a bad idea, I'm also gonna gain from it." I told him.
"You don't know who his cousin is," he told me.
"Liam haven't tell me who he is either." I said.
"That's where the problem is," he said.
Who's he?
Chapter thirty Author's POV "You've got me right? Are we good? Victor asked Kieran who's standing in front of him speechless on how to follow his instructions not to talk to Luna. It's obvious to him now that Luna's life is at stake and he's the only one who's supposed to save her life.Should he accept to stay away from her?"What did you say?" The caller asked him. With the voice, Kieran could tell it was Luna. She must have heard him. He'd wanted to say something so that Luna would get to hear his voice but Victor gestured with his hands that he keep quiet."Oh, sorry, I wasn't talking to you," Victor said. "Hold on," he added."it's a secret you have to keep and if you try to do otherwise, we're all gonna lose" he told him sternly and walked outside.Kieran stood perplexed as a thousand disturbing thoughts came into his mind. Should he be reluctant and watch something happen to Luna, the same person he'd been fighting hard to protect? What did Victor even mean by saying they wer
Chapter twenty nineLuna's POV Dylan had picked up the call, but he wouldn't tell me what Kieran had told him. I'm curious to know why Kieran had come to the boutique; with the way he was sounding, I could tell that he'd wanted to tell me something, unlike Victor, who came unannounced. I took out my phone to dial Kieran's number when the phone suddenly rang, and it turned out to be Victor. "Hello," I answered, placing the phone close to my ear. "Hey, what's up?" He asked me."I'm cool and you?" I asked."Cool, and where are you now?" he demanded. "In the hotel," I told him. "Alright," he said. I thought he was going to say something, but he didn't. Was he trying to know if I'm in the hotel or somewhere? What's everybody hiding from me? "Why were you asking?" I demanded. I've got this feeling that he has a reason for calling."Nothing, I was just calling to know if you're getting prepared," he told me. "Getting prepared for what?" I demanded. "Have you forgotten so soon?" he
CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT KIERAN POV I can't I believe this asshole just mentioned that I'm the one who's fit to take the blame. So he's deliberately blackmailing me? Then he should at least tell me how he managed to know this man. "I want you to explain to me how you managed to know him?" I demanded. "Wasn't he the one who gave you the pictures?" He asked me. Isn't he supposed to answer my question rather than asking another question? "Yes, he gave me the pictures," I admitted. "And he had been sending these pictures to people." He said, making me confused. The man never disclosed to me that he'd given anybody else the picture, so what's Victor talking about? "He has been sending these pictures like how?" I asked him. "Just as I left the boutique that same day you came, I got a call that my presence was needed. I headed straight and found these pictures," he said, throwing the pictures on the ground. "And..." "I investigated and then, I got to know that he was the one who sent
CHAPTER TWENTY SEVENKIERAN POV As our eyes locked, the air seemed to thicken, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Victor's gaze was unnerving, but I refused to back down. His broad shoulders filled the doorway, making him appear even more imposing. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. I wondered if he had been tracking me, and a chill ran down my spine as I thought about being watched. Victor's knowing smile hinted that he could read my thoughts, and I felt a surge of unease and curiosity."Surprised to see me?" He asked me with a smirk on his face."What are you doing here?" I asked, attempting to sound calm. Victor's expression remained unreadable, his eyes never leaving mine. The silence stretched out, and I felt like I was trapped in a vortex, unsure what would happen next. Suddenly, he spoke, his voice low."I should be the one asking you what you're doing here," he told me. "I wasn't expecting you, and I never thought you'd know this place. So, I guess it'
CHAPTER 26KIERAN'S POV "You mean Victor was the one who attacked the Luna?" She asked me in disbelieve."Yes he did, he went along with your son," I told her."Than why is he spreading rumours that you're the one who'd attacked her?" She asked me."I don't know why he's doing this, I guess he's trying to cover his tracts." I told her."So what are you going to do now?" She asked me.I'm confused. Going to attack him now might turn out to be terrible. Victor would be ready to fight me knowing that I will definitely expose him."You shouldn't remain quiet and allow that bastard keep spreading rumours against you. You've had enough already. Being accused and banished; you shouldn't hesitate this time else, it might cost you your life." She told me.She's right, I'm not supposed to keep silent and allow things get out of hand. Sooner, all the social media platforms would start spreading the news of Luna's attack and my name would be all over town.I'm trying to rebuild my life and I nee
Chapter twenty fiveKieran's POV I gave the man some money, although he'd initially rejected it. I insisted he take it, and eventually, he accepted. Afterward, I drove back to my apartment, preoccupied with thoughts of Luna. I desperately needed to speak with her, but I knew she wasn't ready to listen, given the rumors that had been spread about me. Victor was behind the rumors, claiming I was the one who tried to kill her in the woods. I wondered what his true intentions were, especially considering he'd proposed to her and then attacked her. Was he a psychopath, or was there more to it? Was Liam involved? Luna could be in grave danger if I didn't find a way to warn her.I dialed her number, and the phone rang several times before going to voicemail. I tried again, and again, until she finally picked up on the third attempt. Instead of Luna, Dylan answered. "Hello?" he said. "Kieran, what do you want from my sister?" I was taken aback. "Is Luna there?" I asked. "Kieran, tell me w
